Dear Friends,

As we were working on our third edition of Journey Beyond Aspen and approaching what
was to be our strongest and most diverse collection of luxury destinations yet, the world
came to a screeching halt.

Uncer tainty, fear, and confusion settled into both our homes and our hear ts.

Travel seemed the fur thest from anyone’s minds as we all hunkered down in the safest of
environments: home. But, as time ticked by, many of us began to realize that what had been
“normal” could continue to be within reach, with some modif ications. Social networking
quickly connected us…young and old. Vir tual gatherings and get-aways presented a new
way to see each other and the world from the conf ines of our couches.

The “Safer at Home” idea had cer tainly ex tended into our yearning to journey, safely.
Having sur vived Spring at home, it seemed we were all ‘itching’ to embark on some type of
summer excursion. Since many international borders continued to remain closed, and f lying
wasn’t recommended, the easiest (and safest) choice was to embrace what WAS available…
destinations in our backyard. Domestic excursions, namely road trips, seemed to be the
most favored travel.

We are travelers. We are wanderers. We are explorers. To curb that desire is to ex tinguish
an innate drive and passion for life!

But, softly curb…we must continue to do.

Embrace what we have available to us NOW. Continue to dream, and plan, the nex t
international get-away! With that in mind, Journey Beyond Aspen will continue to drive that
inspiration for your nex t adventure, whether a week away, a month away, or a year away.

Wishing everyone a healthy and peaceful summer, and looking for ward to our travel dreams
becoming a reality once again.

Haig Point

Daufuskie Island, South Carolina

One of the many charms of Haig Point, located on the nor thern tip of Daufuskie Island, is that
it is accessible only by boat. Arrive from Hilton Head Island, SC by a scenic ferry ride from the
