Personal History Introduction Joe Mauer is one of the better known catchers for the Minnesota Twins, and he was also one of the best players for them at the time. He was popular as both a batter and a player in the field. He has won many awards in both positions, making him even more notable. Early life and Family Joe Mauer was born on April 19, 1983, in Saint Paul, Minnesota. He was born to Jake Sr. and Teresa Mauer. He has two older brothers, Jake Jr. and Billy. He and his brothers would all go on to be on the Twins whether as players or workers in the locker room. Later in his life, he married Maddie Bisanz on December 1, 2012, in Saint Paul. They have twin daughters and a son. Education Joe Mauer first began playing sports at a high level in high school. He went to Cretin-Derham Hall High School from 1997 to 2000. He played football, baseball, and basketball there, and did quite well in all three sports. However, he found a special attachment to baseball. His coach Jim O’Neill taught him the finer points of baseball and helped him develop in his playing. This eventually led to him having been drafted into the MLB. Career Joe Mauer began playing in the MLB in 2006. He was drafted by the Minnesota Twins, and spent his whole baseball career playing for them. He played as a catcher and first baseman, and helped the Twins in many ways. He played for twelve years until he retired in 2018, and received high respect from teammates and fans alike. Conclusion Joe Mauer is one of the most accomplished baseball players in recent times. It is clear that he played at a high caliber, but his achievements and skill set him apart from the rest. He is a role model and inspiration for players both today and in the future.
