GPYNEF’s Scholarship Program supported local high
school students by awarding 12 college scholarships in 2017.
The scholarship program is designed to encourage young men
and women to actively participate in sailing beyond high
school and into college. The GPYNEF Scholarship recipients
often join college sailing teams. While most choose to give
back to their sport by becoming instructors for junior sailing

GPYNEF’s financial support extended into the city of
Detroit with its partnership with the Challenge the Wind
program located in Kean’s harbor. The Foundation provided
funding, equipment and volunteer assistance which
contributed to this year’s rapid growth. Community sailing
will continue to be part of its mission to provide inner-

GROSSE POINTE YACHT
CLUB FUND-RAISERS
There are two annual Grosse Pointe Yacht Club traditions
that mark the arrival of a new boating season; the annual
Summer Breeze party and the area’s premier in-the-water
boat show, the Great Lakes Boating Festival.
These two great traditions are also essential components
of the Grosse Pointe Youth Educational Foundation’s annual
fund-raising efforts.
Join the fun. Help raise the funds needed to keep
the Foundation growing as fast as interest in Junior sailing
is growing.
TH E G R E AT L A KES BOATI N G FESTIVA L
Beginning Friday, May 18 and continuing through
Sunday May 20, the Great Lakes Boating Festival will fill
the Grosse Pointe Yacht Club harbor with state-of-the-
art boats, that range from center consoles to luxurious
motor yachts.
While the harbor is full of the latest in boats, the GPYC’s
east lawn is host to a variety of nautical-related exhibits…
not to mention delicious food.
With fund-raising raffles for boats, cars and Rolex
watches going on all weekend, the Festival is a great way to
see your friends, get aboard the latest in boats and support
the GPYNEF.
THE SUMMER BREEZE
Mark your calendar for Friday evening, May 18, 2018.
That is the date of the Yacht Club’s Summer
Breeze party celebrating the opening of the boating season
and the Great Lakes Boating Festival.
Enjoy great food and fun while bidding on
fabulous items in a live auction and dance the night away.
There isn’t a more enjoyable way to support the work
of the Foundation than to be part of the action at the
Summer Breeze.

SPONSOR SUPPORT
The two annual fund-raising events
held at the GPYC provide important
financial support to the Grosse Pointe
Youth Nautical Education Foundation.
A key to the events’ fundraising suc-
cess can be linked directly to the generos-
ity of sponsors who donate time, money
and products to make the exhibits,
raffles and auctions so successful.
Their dedication to the Foundation’s
goal should be acknowledged by all.
