Hello Sweet 13
A colony was a chunk of land owned by a king or a queen. Inhabited by settlers
Jamestown was the first to be founded and pronounced the first colony in 1607.. Then the
others were founded. 12 colonies later there were the 13 colonies. They were ruled by king
george the III.
People came to the 13 colonies for many reasons some thought life would be better, others for
profit, others for land claiming, and some for the religion they practiced because it wasn't
allowed in Europe. The 13 colonies were split into
3 groups the middle southern and new england colonies. The middle colonies soil was very
fertile the southern colony was known for its temperature for good farming and for money the
new england colony was very well known for fishing.

Choices, choices, choices * Lucky *
HI im Lucky a colonial kid and this is my story..
Dad walked into the room and said. “Son today is the day you become an
apprentice .“ I was very excited I always wanted to have a job. Then dad started to
list all the jobs.
“ You can be a blacksmith. A blacksmith works with many things meatal, iron, and
tin they made tools out of that and repaired tools. You can be a brickmaker they
make bricks and sometimes kids and slaves would aide them.
You could also be a cooper they had to be strong to
carry all the wood and smart to bend the wood the right way. Also a milliner a
milliner worked with fabric and repaired gown’s. And handled jewelry or a printer
and a binder they printed newspapers and other things of that sort. Shoe makers
made shoes for people silversmith`s were like blacksmiths except they made silverware
and only used silver and a surveyor made maps of suitable land to settle”
Dinner, dinner, IN THE MOUTH
Colonial food was very different back then. They either killed there food on there own
or bought it as we do now except we don't hunt our own food. Farming was another
thing we still do it today but less than they had to they do it every day.
Some recipes they often made are chunky apple pie, golden apricot glazed turkey
breast, cider wassail punch, and molasses cookie mix and many more and some recipes
we have now are grand ailoail, charred chicken with sweet potatoes and carrots, and
many more.
Fun fact when colonists were traveling they only ate hardtack a type of hard cracker

Home horrid home
Homes were bad for the colonies in the beginning. And not at all like the nice and cozy home we have
today they were bette-nope they were way worse.
Back then they tied poles and branches together when you have walls big and sturdy.
They had straw floors and you have carpet or hardwood. Some were like caves with dirt walls where
animals could burrow there way in and eat your food whilst you have your home on a hill or in a
meadow or a city and have a refrigerator.
Also there was only one room for eating and sleeping and it smelled BAD. You have multiple rooms and
can put an air freshener in them they cooked over a fire instead of your stove. They could only heat up
there home by fire instead of air conditioning and they made holes in the ground instead of a toilet

Meds without beds * Lucky * * Luckas *
“DAD!” I shouted “no need to yell “ dad told me quietly “ but lukas has the smallpox!” “ And how do
you know this ?” “ Well lukas has a fever, is discomforted, has a headache, he`s fatigued, has back
pain, and he's throwing up “ “ WE NEED TO GET HIM TO THE APOTHECARY STAT “ Me and
my dad took my brother lukas to the apothecary we told the doctor what was wrong and they put him
into quarantine. 3 Months later we received news that my brother died.
Fun Fact : smallpox where the most common disease in the colonial times and had no cure you were put
into quarantine and nothing was done. Also early settlers often succumb to malira some things they used
were wine, spices, and herbs to try and get rid of it.
Fun fact : they sometimes cut you to release bad blood or if you were unlucky they would use leeches

Just clowning around
The colonial times and things they did are VERY DIFFERENT. You may play
minecraft or kirby but the colonials didn't have any of that. They made up games
blind man’s bluff, kinda like marko polo but on land someone would wear a
blindfold and get spun around as others shouted blind man! They also played jump
rope tennis scotch-hopper a.k.a hopscotch. Leapfrog tag and relay races they also
played nine pins witch is like bowling. And nine men’s morris here's how you play the
players take turns placing one piece on an empty dot during this the other player tries
to prevent them from making a mill if good enough you can make 2 mills.
Fun fact : even the adults sometimes played with the kids

Road to the Revolt
The colony’s had had enough. They were tired of taxation without
representation meaning they didn't like rules they didn't want king george the
III made laws were the colonists had to pay absurd taxes for paper, tea, sugar,
molasses, and had to pay for the soldiers to live in there house. Paying for
there whole stay including water, food, and attending there EVERY need.
But they revolted by tarring and feathering soldiers throwing tea into the ocean
making their own stuff and clothing and not buying ANYTHING.
