The de Gournay
scenic wallpaper was
inspired by the origi-
nal mid-century mural
that adorned The Col-
ony lobby when the
hotel first opened in
1947. “I discovered an
old postcard image of
the mural titled ‘The
Early Days in Palm
Beach,” says Weten-
hall. “We worked
hand in hand with de
Gournay to create this
unique ‘love letter’ to
The Colony and Palm
Beach. It was our
mission to embody
the whimsy and hu-
mour of our beloved
hotel, brought to life
through the metic-
ulous artistry of de
Gournay.”

Installed within the newly renovated lobby of the Colony Hotel, de Gournay’s
hand painted interpretation of a fantasy Florida – created in collaboration
with The Colony owner, Sarah Wetenhall - honours the distinct, decorative
elegance of Palm Beach in this interior by the inimitable @kemble_interiors.

When I lack inspiration I always have a few key inspirational sources, one of
them is to imagine places in the world. Often places I never been to, since
that makes the thought run more freely.

I very often think in beautiful color combinations I have seen or in patterns
when I want to express a fantasy. I love to imagine and fantasize that cities
and places have their own color palette.
Due to the current situation in the world, I dream about new places and na-
ture more than ever which made me decide that I should collect some of my
sketches to take the world a bit closer.
This collection will be updated with new prints frequently.
