Past simple

ใช้เพื่อบอกให้ทราบถึงสิ่งที่เกิดและเสร็จสิ้นไปแล้วในช่วงเวลา
ก่อนหน้านี้ ในภาษาอังกฤษ Simple past tense เป็นรูปพื้นฐาน
ของ tense ที่ใช้บอกอดีต (past tense) โดยเวลาของสิ่งที่ถูกพูด
ถึงเกิดขึ้นนั้นอาจจะพึ่งเกิดและเสร็จสิ้นไปเมื่อเร็ว ๆ นี้ หรือเกิดและ
เสร็จสิ้นไปนานแล้วก็ได้ และ จะใช้ simple past tense เมื่อบอกว่า
สิ่งนั้นเกิดขึ้นเมื่อใด ดังนั้น จึงจำเป็นต้องใช้คำที่บอกเวลาแน่นอน

ด้วยเสมอ




Past continuous

ใช้พูดถึงเหตุการณ์ที่กำลังเกิดขึ้นในอดีต เน้นย้ำความต่อเนื่องของ
เหตุการณ์ และมักใช้คู่ Past Simple เมื่อมีอีกเหตุการณ์เกิดแทรก

การนำไปใช้
Past simple

ปกติมักใช้ past simple tense ในการบอกเล่าเหตุการณ์ที่เกิดขึ้นและจบลงไป
แล้วในอดีต แต่ในบางกรณีก็มีการใช้ past simple tense โดยไม่เกี่ยวกับเวลา
ในอดีตได้ ยังมีการใช้ past simple ในสถานการณ์อื่นๆ อีกหลายแบบ อย่าง

เช่นใช้พูดคุยกันซึ่งหน้าในปัจจุบันเพื่อให้ฟังดูสุภาพมากขึ้น, ใช้พูดถึง
สถานการณ์ในอนาคตที่เราไม่ค่อยมั่นใจนัก, เป็นต้น

S + V2

Simple past tense ในภาษาอังกฤษอาจจะดูเหมือนรูปประโยค
การบอกสิ่งที่เกิดขึ้นในอดีตในภาษาไทย แต่โปรดระวังเพราะจะ

มีความหมายแตกต่างกันก็ได้

Past continuous

ใช้พูดถึงเรื่องที่กำลังเกิดขึ้นและดำเนินอยู่ในปัจจุบัน ตามชื่อของมัน
Present (ปัจจุบัน) + Continuous/Progressive (อย่างต่อเนื่อง)
-โครงสร้างของ Present Continuous
S+ is/am/are + v. ing
1) ใช้กับเหตุการณ์ที่กำลังเกิดขึ้น สามารถมี Adverb of Time

หรือคำกำกับเวลาใน ประโยค เช่น Now ตอนนี้ Right now ตอนนี้
At the moment ในตอนนี้ Still ยังคง Currently ตอนนี้
2)ใช้พูดถึงเหตุการณ์ที่เกิดขึ้นเป็นประจำมาอย่างยาวนาน

หรือเกิดขึ้นบ่อยจนเกินไป (รู้สึกในทางลบ) มักจะใช้กับคำเหล่านี้
Constantly อย่างต่อเนื่อง Always ตลอด This week สัปดาห์นี้

This month เดือนนี้ This year ปีนี้
3)ใช้กับเหตุการณ์ที่จะเกิดขึ้นแน่นอนในอนาคตอันใกล้ มักมีคำกำกับเวลา
Tomorrow พรุ่งนี้ Tonight คืนนี้ Next week สัปดาห์หน้า Next month

เดือนหน้า Next year ปีหน้า Now ตอนนี้

Past Continuous Tense :
โครงสร้างประโยค Subject + was, were + Verb 1 + ing
ใช้บรรยายเหตุการณ์ที่กำลังเกิดขึ้นในอดีต

Past Simple Tense :
โครงสร้างประโยค Subject + Verb 2 ใช้บรรยายเหตุการณ์
