PRESENT PERFECT SIMPLE

● We use Present Perfect Simple when we talk about something that happened in the past
and has a result that affects the present.

● We also use the Present Perfect Simple when we don’t know or we don’t say when
something happened in the past.

● It is also used to say how many times something happened.

SPELLING:

● Walk-->walked,dance-->danced,travel-->travelled,tidy-->tidied,play-->played

● EXAMPLES:
● The Scientist has studied global warming since 2001.
● Biologist have found new marine species.
● The museum has just closed for the day.

ANOTHER EXAMPLE:

PRESENT PERFECT CONTINUOUS

● We use Present Perfect Continuous for actions that started in the past and are still in
progress now or have happened repeatedly until now.

● We also you use the Present Perfect Continuous for actions that happened repeatedly
in the past and have finished recently,but that have results that affect the present.

● It is also used to emphasise how long actions have been in progress for.

SPELLING:

● make-->making,swim-->swimming,study-->studying,cook-->cooking

● EXAMPLES:
● The team of biologist has been searching for new species in the Amazon.
● My eyes hurt because I have been working on the computer for hours.
● Her brother has been researching global warming for a decade.

Icebergs

The word ‘icebergs’ probably comes from the Norwegian word ‘isberg’ ,which means ‘ice mountain’ . Every year about
10,000-15,000 icebergs form around the world.Although modern ships know where icebergs are now,in the past
icebergs (1) has been (be) one of the biggest dangers in the sea.The famous Titanic (2) have been sinking (sink) when it
hit an iceberg in 1912 and many people (3) has died (die).Because of this accident,thirteen countries (4) (form) the

since.
