HOW OUR INNER WHEEL PRAYER ORIGINATED

A little background to how our Inner Wheel Prayer Originated - Way back in 1970, Silla
Ardeshir a young member from India attended one of the meetings of a local Club in Australia.
At the beginning of the meeting she heard the members recite a Collect. She was impressed
with that and felt why not one for her home Club Inner Wheel Club of Bombay. She brought
back the Collect with her and India being a diverse country, she made the changes to suit
the Country and presented it to her Club. Soon the other Clubs too adopted this and thus
the Inner Wheel Prayer was born to suit our Country.

WHAT INNER WHEEL LOGO MEANS ?

The official emblem consists of two gear wheels, one inside the other, with six spokes radiating
outward from the centre hub. There are twenty four teeth or cogs on both inner and outer
wheels. The words INNER appears at the top and the word WHEEL at the bottom of the rim.
The colors of the emblem are blue and gold with the emblem in gold, the rims of the Inner and
outer Wheels in royal blue and the words INNER and WHEEL in gold lettering.

“The LOGO is obviously a gear wheel. The teeth on the outside represents the Clubs
around the world. If one of these teeth breaks off, the gear may slip a bit, but it still works,
the 6 spokes represent the Officers and service Committees and even if one of these fails
the movement will continue. The teeth of the inside GEAR WHEEL represent the links with
other organization, charities and the work we do. If one of these teeth gets broken off, the
rest will continue to benefit. The Dot in the middle is the Individual Member, Without us,
THE INDIVIDUAL MEMBERS, THE HUB WILL FAIL AND NOTHING WILL WORK”
(Mrs. Jean Parkin-PDC Dist.4).

So don’t forget to oil the HUB, which helps to make the GEAR run smoothly. The colour is
also important which is ROYAL BLUE for the clubs.
