Brighouse pensioner launches
debut novel

A Brighouse pensioner is the proud author of a
novel which is proving popular locally.

Madeleine Wilson has always had a love of writing
and following encouragement from her family – is
delighted to share the recent publication of her first
novel.

“My family encouraged me to continue writing
my stories and, as a result, of being housebound
following an operation on my toe – I took advantage
of that time to pick up my pen and write my first

relishing English at school.”

Published by Austin Macauley Publishers, the book is taken under the wing of Hobo, a local character

so slightly, but it won’t make you a better driver it
won’t reduce your fuel bill. What’s more, statistics
show it probably will make you more likely to be
pulled over by police!

Be versatile
There are so many numbers that can mimic
letters – 0 for the letter O, for instance, 7 for T,
8 for B and so on. If you commit enough time to
it, you’ll be able to spell out a name, a place, a
hobby, an interest, or even a rude word, if you’re
that way inclined!

Age is important
Remember you cannot let your vehicle appear
younger than it actually is. In other words, if your
car was made in 2012, you won’t be able to bolt
onto it a number plate that begins AS13.

Similarly, in reverse, some number plates may
look great on the shelf, but for the sake of spelling
out a name it could inadvertently negatively
date your car if displaying a year that actually
precedes that of when your car was made.

Our waterways are full of fish, about 30 species,

not talking about little minnows here, fish
like bream, carp and pike can be huge.

If you’re new to fishing you’re most likely to catch:
Roach: very common, they have a silver body with
grey-brown to orangey-red fins and like to swim in
shoals

Gudgeon: one of the nation’s favourite fish, these

Bream: nearly every canal will have bream.
The bigger ones are dark brown or greyish
with flattened sides. Young ones are known as
‘skimmers’ and are silvery. Again, they’re usually
found in large shoals.
