When a call is received the Minitor V will either alert or vibrate.

(depending on the position of the function switch)

Different alert sounds are programmable for different tone sets.

(short beeps, long beeps, continuous tone, etc.)

The pager will immediately begin to monitor the F1 dispatch
frequency.

To silence the pager and place it back in to Alert mode press the
reset button.

Alert mode

The switch position for monitor mode and the channels being
monitored is dependent on individual pager programming.
Always on “C”, and most pagers on “B” also.

During priority scan of F1 & F2 channels the F1 dispatch channel
always takes priority. If you are listening to a transmission on
the F2 radio rebroadcast and a page is transmitted on the F1
channel, the pager will revert to the F1 channel. This is to
ensure that the pager never misses an alert.

The F2 channel rebroadcasts the 800MHz working radio channel
for your region.

159.600MHZ has “East Fire” and “Central Fire”
159.735MHz has “West Fire”

Monitor mode

Chester County
Default Minitor V programming

“A” and “C” position is the same in all pagers.
“B” and “D” vary by individual programming.

All Pagers basic programming

A. Alert (standby).
B. _____________________
C. Monitor, both F1 and F2 in priority scan mode.

• 160.185MHz - F1 dispatch
• 159.600MHz or 159.735MHz – F2 800 fire rebroadcast
D. _____________________

Chester County
Default Minitor V programming

Standard pagers with only tones for a single
department. This is the vast majority of pagers in
Chester County

Standard single department pagers

A. Alert (standby)
B. Monitor F1 dispatch frequency only.
C. Monitor, both F1 and F2 in priority scan mode.

• 160.185MHz - F1 dispatch
• 159.600MHz or 159.735MHz – F2 800 fire rebroadcast
D. Vibrate alert, same as “A” but no audible alert tone.

Chester County
Default Minitor V programming

Multi-Agency pagers with more than one tone for
multiple departments. This configuration is used if
you have a selectable “duty” tone.

Pagers with secondary “duty” tones

A. Alert (standby) all programmed tones.
B. Alert (standby) with “duty” tone off.
C. Monitor, both F1 and F2 in priority scan mode.

• 160.185MHz - F1 dispatch
• 159.600MHz or 159.735MHz – F2 800 fire rebroadcast
D. Vibrate alert, same as “A” but no audible alert tone.

Pagers programmed this way do not have the ability to monitor only the F1 dispatch
channel.

Motorola Minitor V
New Features

• Voice Storage Feature
• 3.6V NiMH battery pack

Stored voice playback feature

Press the small button in the center of the function switch to
initiate playback of stored audio.

• The most recent message will
play first.

• Old stored messages will be
played at the end of new ones,
if the old voice message was
never cleared.

• To clear the stored messages
cycle the power off and on for
a moment.

• When there is a new unread
message the red LED indicator
turns on.

Stored voice playback feature

Chester County pagers are programmed for “dynamic” voice
storage. This prevents missing the end of a long dispatch.
Minitor V voice storage can be configured to store:
 30 seconds
 60 seconds
 120 seconds
 Dynamic

The Minitor V can store up to eight minutes of audio.

3.6VDC NiMH battery pack

The battery lock is on the rear next to the belt clip. The lock can be
very stiff and difficult to move.

The battery must be locked or it will not stay securely attached to
the pager.

General charging and usage

• A fully charged battery will run the pager for several days
under normal conditions.

• The NiMH rechargeable battery is rated for 500 charge
cycles. Based on a full discharge and recharge.

• There is a battery level indicator on the top of the pager
between the knobs. Press the reset button to display the
current battery level.

• To achieve the longest possible
battery life, do not charge the battery
every evening. With a healthy battery,
charging every other day is sufficient.
It may be possible to go several days
between charges under light usage.

• Motorola product literature actually
lists a 10 day battery life.

DES Policy change

Chester County Department of Emergency Services
is now allowing agencies to make programming
changes to pagers owned by the county.

The Minitor V programming software is available free of charge from
Motorola’s Web site.

If an agency desires to make programming changes to its pagers, it
is their responsibility to acquire the programming dock and cable.

Should changes in programming made by a department cause the
pager to not function properly and require DES to reprogram the
unit, service charges may apply.

Chester County
Minitor V Programming

If your agency previously had CCDES program your
departments pagers in a custom configuration, the newly
issued Minitor V pagers you receive will mirror that same
configuration.

I.e. - Some departments wanted vibrate on “B”.

If your agency made programming changes that CCDES was
not aware of, the new pagers will not have those programming
options.

Responders that have multiple station affiliations will need to
have additional tones added to their pager from the primary
agency. One responder should only have one pager, regardless
of how many stations they respond with.

Minitor V Programming Options

The new Motorola Minitor V pagers have more options for
programming than previous models.

Complete programming details can be found in the help menu of
the Motorola software.

Some of the programming options are.

• The function switch can be set to provide any mode in any position.
• Programmable to both wideband and narrowband operations.
• Up to twelve tone sets.
• Reset options: Manual reset, Time-Out Auto Reset, revert reset
• Storage voice length: 30s, 60s, 120s, dynamic
• Voice memo
• Scan options: Priority scan, Non priority scan, Silent scan
• Fixed alert volume
• Alert duration and multiple alert tones including “musical alerts”.
