The beautiful and unique McColl Pond Environmental Learning and Event Center (ELC)
is the natural choice for your next event. Set among 10 acres of native prairies, butterfly
gardens and mature trees, the McColl Pond ELC is the perfect indoor/outdoor venue
for an anniversary or birthday party, graduation celebration, sports banquet or intimate
wedding. The Aspen Room seats approximately 100 people and offers picturesque
seasonal views from the two full walls of windows overlooking a natural area that
includes McColl Pond. The outdoor covered patio is nestled among the landscape
and gardens and provides seating for an additional 60-75 guests.

The McColl Pond story

The McColl Pond Environmental Learning Center (ELC) is a unique community
resource built in partnership with the Jeffers Foundation in 2009. The ELC is a LEED
Gold certified facility that serves as a model for sustainable design and includes
many environmentally-friendly features. The ELC has become a mainstay in the
environmental education programs for area schools. Several times a week during the
school year, classes come to the ELC to explore the pond and prairie, and sometimes
even the building itself. Designed with a naturally resourceful approach, parts of the
building are made with recycled wheat and wood. It limits runoff with rain gardens,
concrete that lets water flow back into the soil, and thousands of rooftop plants to
capture the rain. Today, the ELC is not only popular with school classes, but is also
growing in demand for weddings, graduations and other events. Reservations can be
made one year in advance.
