DATIN SRI HAJAH NOR ZAMANI BINTI ABDOL HAMID

DIRECTOR GENERAL OF EDUCATION, MINISTRY OF EDUCATION, MALAYSIA

Bismillahirrahmanirrahim.
Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh dan Selamat Sejahtera.

Heartiest congratulations and my great appreciation goes to Sekolah Seri Puteri (SSP) Cyberjaya on their
success in organizing the Fully Residential Schools International Symposium (FRSIS) 2021. This is the 9th
symposium helmed by the Fully Residential Schools Management Division and SSP. This, in the face of
adversity - the pandemic that has challenged all of us in unimaginable ways. Notwithstanding, we have
risen above this adversity and come together to make this year’s FRSIS a reality. This year’s theme -
COVID-19 PANDEMIC: GAINS AND LOSSES is very apt indeed.

The main goal of this symposium is to groom world-class leaders. As such, this programme creates the
platform and opportunity for students to exchange ideas, experiences and knowledge. It inculcates,
trains and applies leadership skills through effective communication, management, and creative
thinking driven by social ethics and moral values. It is hoped that this symposium will continue the
tradition of bringing together educators, students, researchers and observers from all Fully Residential
Schools in Malaysia as well as abroad to share their research findings at theoretical and practical levels.
This year's theme - COVID 19 PANDEMIC: GAINS AND LOSSES aims to provide a platform for intellectual
exchange of ideas towards generating knowledgeable and informed youths about the challenges of a
worldwide crisis and its dire effects.

Let me specially salute our staff members who, with courage and determination, have put the events
together. I wish to sincerely appreciate and commend their efforts and commitment towards the
sustenance of the academics, and moral culture of Fully Residential Schools. FRSIS would not be a
success without dedication and hard work of the committee members. Congratulations to all presenters
and teachers who have contributed ideas and explored various aspects of the pandemic as well as
sharing their research findings. To PUTERI and members of PTA, thank you for your cooperation,
commitment and for going the extra-mile to ensure that the Fully Residential schools continue to move
from glory to glory.

Finally, it is my greatest hope that this 9th online international symposium with the theme - COVID 19
Pandemic: Gains and Losses will achieve its objective in bringing together participants from all the Fully
Residential Schools in the country and their counterparts abroad in a scholarly discourse, making it a
rewarding and meaningful experience for all.
I wish you all good luck and much success.
Thank you.

FARIDAH BINTI YANG RAZALI

DIRECTOR OF FULLY RESIDENTIAL SCHOOLS MANAGEMENT DIVISION

Congratulations and our highest appreciation to Sekolah Seri Puteri Cyberjaya on their success in
organizing the 9th Online Fully Residential Schools International Symposium (FRSIS) 2021. It is my
greatest hope that this international symposium with the theme - COVID 19 Pandemic: Gains and
Losses will achieve its objective in bringing together participants from all Fully Residential Schools
in the country and their counterparts abroad in a scholarly discourse. This event will hopefully be
a rewarding and meaningful experience for all despite the hardship brought about by the
pandemic we are currently experiencing. It also gives me immense pleasure to extend a very
warm welcome to all students and teachers attending this virtual symposium.
The main goal of this symposium is to groom world-class leaders, besides promoting and
nurturing the culture of research amongst the youths. As such, this event has created the space
and opportunities for students to exchange ideas, share experiences and knowledge as well as
prepare themselves as future leaders by applying the skills of effective communication, public
speaking, problem-solving, innovative and creative thinking as well as leadership when preparing
and executing their research and presentation. It is hoped that this event will continue to serve as
a platform to foster intellectual sharing towards generating a knowledgeable and informed
society about the challenges of a global crisis and how it affects us in the current situation.
FRSIS would not be a success without wholehearted commitment, unwavering dedication and
hard work by all the committee members. Therefore, I would like to express my deepest
appreciation to all parties involved. Congratulations to all the student-presenters and teacher-
guides, local and abroad, who have contributed ideas and explored various aspects of the
pandemic as well as sharing their research findings. I hope that all participants are not only able
to adapt with this global challenge, but will also contribute towards building a world which will be
a better place for mankind.
Stay safe and stay connected!

FOREWORD

NORSHAM BINTI NOORDIN A.A.P

EXCELLENT PRINCIPAL OF SEKOLAH SERI PUTERI

Bismillahirrahmanirrahim.
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious and the Most Merciful.
Greetings to all.
It’s finally here, everyone! The 9th Online Fully Residential Schools International Symposium 2021,
one of the most awaited events of this year has successfully been organised by Sekolah Seri Puteri,
Cyberjaya even though initially it was planned to be executed last year in the year 2020. Despite its
postponement due to the outbreak of Covid 19 pandemic, the Fully Residential Schools
Management Division, Ministry of Education has never lost its faith in making the event a reality.
What makes the 9th FRSIS 2021 different this year is, unlike the previous FRSIS events which were
organised face-to-face, the Parallel sessions are presented online and all participants are gathered
virtually. Understandably, preparing for the symposium and competing online may have instigated
numerous challenges; definitely, the journey is not smooth-sailing. In spite of all odds, all
participants have made it through. Well done and congratulations!
Nothing is more appropriate than the theme “Covid-19 Pandemic: Gains and Losses” for this year’s
event. With its relevance to the current situation, this theme is chosen with the purpose to enable
the youngsters to nurture their thinking and soft skills as they work collaboratively with their
teammates to address the issues at hand and eventually, find the solutions that work best. As they
experience the ‘journey’, it is hoped that this has shaped them into individuals who not only mature
in thinking but also with hearts of gold as they would learn a thing or two that they could and
would emulate as they travel through their lives in the future.
With this opportunity, I would like to extend my appreciation to the Division of Management for
Fully Residential Schools, Ministry of Education for entrusting us, Sekolah Seri Puteri, the honour as
the host school to organise this great event. I also hope that all participants have gained and
enjoyed invaluable experience throughout this event.
Thank you.

INTRODUCTION

HISTORY OF FRSIS

The Fully Residential Schools International Symposium (FRSIS)
was initiated in 2011 and was organised by the Ministry of
Education Malaysia under the Fully Residential Schools
Management Division in partnership with the National

the Fully Residential School of creating “World Class Leaders” for
the 70 FRS schools in Malaysia.

The involvement of Fully Residential School students in this
international programme has enabled them to interact and think
globally whilst applying the knowledge gained in accordance to
the norms of the host country.

This programme will also bring about positive impacts in honing
leadership qualities among students to organize programme at
