GENERAL MANAGER'S MESSAGE NOTHING BUT WORLD CLASS I would like to wish all our esteemed Members, guests and visitors a Happy 66th Malaysia Independence Day. As we approach this momentous milestone in history, let’s all celebrate the spirit of our nation’s journey and achievements with the utmost pride and unwavering unity. As we are all aware, the LPGA Maybank Championship in October is drawing near and the anticipation grows. I’m pleased to share that our dedicated golf course team is meticulously preparing to ensure that every fairway and green remains at its pristine best so that we will be proud to showcase our course’s excellence when the world’s eyes turn to us. With that being said, I’d like to reassure that we remain committed to providing you with exceptional facilities on the grounds. Renewals are already underway and refurbishments have commenced, starting with the toilets at the West Lobby and Gymnasium. We are aware that this may be an inconvenience so your understanding and patience is immensely valued as we work towards creating a more refined experience for you, your guests and our visitors. As we continue to prioritize a secure and welcoming environment, I’d like to emphasize the importance of mutual respect. Our club thrives as a community when every member shows consideration towards one another, our dedicated staff, and our hardworking caddies. This camaraderie extends to our beautiful golf course and facilities—let’s ensure we care for them as an extension of our shared home. By upholding these values, we reinforce the sense of unity and togetherness that defines KLGCC. It is with great pleasure that I announce good news from the Golfers’ Terrace! After the unfortunate incident, our kitchen is now back in full swing serving delectable creations that’s sure to warm your hearts and bellies. Do explore our exciting new promotions which feature well-loved local delicacies like Pulut Kuning with Rendang Ayam or our Mountain ABC. For seafood enthusiasts, our resident seafood restaurant, Victoria Harbour, has tasty new promotions on the menu. Whether it’s the bounty of the ocean or delights of the land, a top-notch feast is guaranteed when you walk through their doors. Lastly, on behalf of the Management team, I’d like to thank you once again for your unwavering support and feedback. As we embrace Merdeka, prepare for LPGA brilliance, endeavour to upgrade facilities, and bring culinary delights to our dining spots, let’s take pride in our shared journey here at KLGCC. “Selamat Hari Merdeka & Selamat Hari Malaysia” Steven Tan General Manager KLGCC

TRANSFORM YOUR LIFE WITH YOGA As a yoga practitioner for more than 20 years I can vouch that yoga is good for your health both physically and mentally What is yoga? Yoga is a group of physical, mental and spiritual practices or disciplines which originated in ancient India and aims to control and still the mind. Knowing its benefits traditional and modern yoga is practiced all around the world by people of all ages The term “yoga’ in the Western world often denotes a modern form of Hatha yoga and a posture based physical fitness, stress relief and relaxation technique, consisting largely of asanas (poses) Why yoga? I practice yoga because I believe yoga can improve your strength, balance and flexibility The slow movements and deep breathing increase blood flow and warm up muscles, while holding a pose can build strength much like resistance training. Resistance training is good for women to strengthen their muscles Yoga relaxes you and help you sleep better. This is so true because every time I do yoga in the day, at night I will be asleep like a baby because I feel so calm and relaxed throughout the day. It can eliminate stress and we all know stress is not good for your health Scientific evidence shows that yoga supports stress management, mental health, mindfulness, healthy eating and quality sleep. All these contribute to our well being I find that yoga also helps with lower back pain. In yoga we do a lot of stretching which eases the chronic pain. In fact The American College of Physicians recommends yoga as a first line treatment for chronic low back pain As someone who is diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis I also find that gentle yoga helps to ease the discomfort of tender, swollen joints for people with arthritis, which is in accordance with John Hopkins review of 11 recent studies My yoga teacher Anna always emphasize the crucial part of the practise which is the spinal twist. According to yoga philosophy, it’s the flexibility of spine, not the number of years that determine your age. You are only as old as your spine is flexible. Therefore to stay young, we have to stay flexible Since yoga improves your flexibility, naturally yoga is good for golfers. Yoga for golfers will require another chapter on its own. Basically it improves your mobility and stability needed in a golf swing How does yoga contribute to your heart health? If we practice yoga regularly it can reduce our stress level and inflammation which contributes to a healthier heart When you practice yoga regularly you may notice an increased level of mental and physical energy, you will become more alert and enthusiastic in your daily activities. You will have less negative feelings towards others and surroundings. This is true for me too. Yoga is a way of calming the mind and create awareness Yoga incorporates breathing movement, which is breathing in and out both through the nose. When you focus for a long period of time on the breath coordinated with the movement, you come into the present moment fully, becoming connected to everything and everyone Which comes to the next benefit of yoga that is connecting us with a supportive community. By participating in a yoga class we can ease our loneliness where it provides a perfect environment for group healing and support For me yoga is more than just a fad. In a nutshell it’s a form of self love and self care which we totally deserve. Every asana (pose) has it’s own benefits which I would love to share in my next write up Datin Dr Norazlin Mokhtar G&A Fitness
