GENERAL MANAGER’S MESSAGE

“BUILDING A SOLID FOUNDATION”

A good institution is strong and effective, and we are always striving to build a solid structure
to carry the good name of the KLGCC through generations. That said, the Management
Team congratulates the following Liaison Committee Members who were elected at the
KLGCC AGM on 25 August 2022: Dato’ Razain bin Abdul Razab, Anthony Tong Fook Hin,
Dato’ Shamsudin bin Ismail, Paul Ong Teng Kek and Dr Roseman bin Hassan. We look
forward to working closely with them in the year ahead.

We are also excited to announce the appointment of Mr Mathew Sangilos as our Operations
Manager to oversee our ever-expanding range of activities and outlets, in addition ensuring
that the team provides the highest quality of personalised services at every level. Mathew
had served at the Sheraton in Brunei as well as the Mimpi Resort in the Perhentian Islands
and comes with 18 years of experience in the hospitality industry. He will be responsible
for the F&B, Member Relations, Banquet Operations, Sports And Recreation as well as the
General Operations of your Club. We wish him well and I know that he looks forward to
receiving your observations and meeting you all in person soon.

The variety of available culinary delights continues to be expanded at the Club, with the
Golfers’ Terrace recently introducing the Nasi Lemak Malaysia for you to enjoy in the
reconditioned surroundings. Enjoy the Sunset view while having a drink before or after a
round of golf, and don’t forget to try the Special Weekend Roast, with succulent grain fed
beef available from 11am to 3pm every Saturday and Sunday.

Meanwhile, Niji and Qureshi continue to provide their very best selections for discerning
customers every lunchtime and evening for Members to bring their families and entertain
their guests away from the city centre. Do try the special set Lunch at Le Conti from Monday
to Friday, and enjoy the Live Music on the evenings of Thursday and Friday each week.

Our international cuisine portfolio expands with the exciting new addition of Victoria
Harbour that will cater to lovers of seafood cuisine, Hong Kong style. Don’t miss out on the
opening in October, and more news on this will come your way.

We at KLGCC are excited celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Sime Darby Property with
our first Family Festival Day tentatively scheduled for Saturday 24 September 2020. Look
out for a day of fun games, delectable food and exciting activities for you to bring your
family and friends. More details will soon be announced on our social media platforms, via
WhatsApp and website.

On a separate note, to better facilitate your monthly payments, I am pleased to share
that the Management has introduced a new auto debit system which is combined with
an increase in credit facilities as well as complimentary Green Fee vouchers. Call +603

Finally, a gentle reminder to all Active Members that the complimentary vouchers issued in
April will expire at the end of this month. Full clarification can be obtained by ringing the

CLUB CAPTAIN’S MESSAGE

Dear Members,

Please join me in congratulating our Annual Club Championship winners and
kudos to all for an amazing display of showmanship. Let us not forget to extend
our heartiest gratitude to the sponsors, and to them we would like to say a big
thank you for making the event memorable and meaningful for all participants.

For Members who missed out on the Annual Club Championship fret not as there
still is the September Monthly Medal event to look forward to! Be sure to sign up
before 21 September 2022 to save a spot.

We are happy to announce that the Club has introduced a new auto debit promotion
that entitles an increase in Members’ credit along with two complimentary Green

special room dedicated for assistants and minders while in waiting. The room will
be located next to the golf bag drop off area, so Members, please kindly let your
private personnel (e.g.: drivers, bodyguards) know of this new room.

As a closing note, I would like to share my best wishes to my fellow countrymen
with a very Happy Malaysia Day. Let us stay united and live in harmony now and

Durian Meet and Greet with UOB

Nothing brings people together like enjoying some quality Musang King or D24 durians. Guests were greeted with
the wonderful scent of the Asian favourite as the entered the Tournament Room and Swimming Pool area at KL-
GCC. The pouring rain surely didn’t put a damper on the guests’ excitement as they enjoyed the delicious spread
during the meet up organised by UOB. A truly unique meet and greet session, the king of fruits was surely the star

of the event and possibly the main topic of conversations on that day.

Ernst and Young Intern networking dinner!

The interns were definitely out to play at a special Ernst & Young networking dinner held at our KLGCC Banquet
Hall. Organised on 17 August 2022, the hall was filled with graduates socialising and making new connections
with leaders and seniors from the service lines. During the casual dinner, the guests indulged in a variety of games

and interactions that surely amped up the energy and enthusiasm. Good luck to the interns and their future
undertakings!

AMSC takes over SDCC

The Aesthetic Medicine and Surgery Conference (AMSC) was held at the SDCC on 20 and 21 August 2022, where
a large number of attendees were introduced to renowned companies showcasing their latest products, technolo-
gies and trends in the field. SDCC is undoubtedly a great venue for large scale events, exhibitions and expos with

a wide variety of facilities and services available.

In the Mood for Food with Tatler Malaysia

The fun and exciting event featured a line-up of local talents and restaurants tasked to reimagine our beloved
Malaysian street food. Their interpretations were presented during the three-day food galore held at the KLGCC
Piano lounge. Guests dressed to impress, befitting the classic 60’s Hong Kong love-theme. But let’s not forget the
awesome food which include a re-imagined rojak, chicken rice, pisang and cempedak goreng that were absolute

winners among our satisfied guests.

Victoria Harbour Sailing to KLGCC

Great news for seafood lovers! The Victoria Harbour Seafood Restaurant will be open for business in October
2022. Its wide selection of Hong Kong-style fine seafood dishes, ranging from lobsters and king prawns to

Australian abalone and exotic geoducks, will be available to satisfy the most discerning customers. Freshness of
product, combined with quality ingredients and the culinary skills of our highly experienced chefs, guarantees

delectable dishes for an unforgettable taste experience.

The restaurant provides a peaceful and tranquil environment to enjoy meals, away from the hustle and bustle of
the city. Apart from the main dining hall, six well-appointed dining rooms are also available for customers’ priva-

THE MOONCAKE EDITION!

In conjunction with the Mid-Autumn Festival, our KLGCC kitchen team has introduced an exclusive snow skin mooncake
that are perfect for the celebration with family and friends.
Sold by pieces as well as in our exclusive tiffin set, this treat comes in three flavours:

Lotus – This classic mooncake flavour is incredibly delicious with the subtle sweet and rich filling paired perfectly with our
homemade snow skin. Each slice will bring you delight, so make sure to get more than one.
Red bean – The smooth and silky filling is made from Azuki beans that are used in many Chinese desserts. This is
undoubtedly one of the more popular mooncake flavours and do bite into one just to find out why.
Pandan – A nod to our local favourite flavour, this pandan mooncake represents the multi-faceted cultures in Malaysia.
You will surely enjoy the fragrant offering with the mochi-like texture of the snow skin.
The KLGCC team is organising a lantern walk on 10 September 2022. Starting at 7:30pm participants can gather at the
West lobby before making the walk to the main lobby. Free lanterns and a small gift (while stocks last) will be given out,
so be sure to bring along your family and friends!

Weeding and trimming are crucial aspects of golf course maintenance. Our greenkeepers can be seen
working tirelessly to ensure that the overall landscape is in impeccable condition.

Pistia stratiotes is a free-floating, fast growing, obligate aquatic that can form vast, dense floating mats on
our ponds. Removal of pistia is necessary to ensure that our aquatic plants get adequate sunlight and cause

minimal disruption to the ecosystem.

The eradication of weeds to ensure a smooth play on our greens, fairway and tees.

Baya Weaver
A widely present weaver that is known for its long hanging
nest with a bulbous chamber and a narrow tubular entrance. 
Breeding males have yellow foreheads and crowns, with
dark-hued throats that contrast the yellow underparts.  They
are seen in flocks, particularly during the breeding seasons.

Black-thighed Falconet
Dwarfed by shrikes and thrushes, these tiny raptors look
parakeet-like as they perch on exposed branches. With a
distinct black upper body, white chest, rusty-orange belly,
and black forehead “muffs”, these birds are unique among
the region’s raptors.  Inhabiting lowland and foothill
forests, which is uncommon for raptors, these rather
social Black-thighed Falconets are often seen preening
and feeding together in small flocks.
