Steven Tan The Holy Month of Ramadan is a time for reflection.

Sime Darby Property It is when we take note of our past and lessons learned to improve ourselves moving
forward.

Thirty years ago, the Club’s founders envisioned a sanctuary for golf with a host of
other sports and services that would transform the Golf and Country Club into a
world-class destination and a second home for its Members and Guests.

To some extent, I would say that the vision has become a reality, but there is always
room for improvement.

I am excited for the journey ahead in transforming and uplifting the Club's refreshed
identity. There is much to prepare but backed by a strong management team and
well-qualified staff, I am confident we can provide Members and Guests with
improved quality services and wholesome family-friendly activities. Look out for the
activities lined up starting in June to celebrate the Club’s anniversary.

While providing the best service and an array of activities are essential, your health
and well-being take precedence. The Club had issued notices of positive COVID-19
cases, and I would once again like to remind all Members and Guests to stay vigilant
and strictly follow all Standard Operating Procedures.

As we progress on our journey to improvement, I look forward to meeting all
Members and welcome you to share your concerns or feedback on any matter as
your voice could guide the team on our transformational journey.

CAPTAIN'S MESSAGE

Datuk Syed Tamim Ansari Dear Members,
Syed Mohamed
Club Captain We are seeing a rise in the numbers of COVID-19 cases, particularly in Selangor, and
I hope that all Members and their Guests will continue to stay vigilant against the
pandemic.

It is our shared responsibility to ensure each other’s safety and well-being, so let
us continue to diligently adhere to the Standard Operating Procedures. Remember
to wear your masks in public places and do practice good hygiene by washing your
hands often.

I visited the Club three times this Ramadan and I must share that it is nice to see
a lively atmosphere with happy golfers and Guests around. Hats off to the Golfer’s
Terrace chefs as this year’s bubur lambuk is simply delicious. I personally believe that
it beats the legendary Kampung Baru bubur lambuk – a staple well known to the KL-
ites. Members, do give it a try while it is still available!

On 31 March, the Club held its Annual General Meeting during which we welcomed
a new Liaison Committee with two retaining incumbents. Congratulations to the
committee members. The meeting raised some pertinent matters which I believe
must be addressed in due time.

Lastly, I wish to pay respect to our late Starter Hashim bin Aziz who passed away on
18 April. He leaves behind his wife and two children. My condolences to his family
and loved ones. Al-Fatihah.

Hosni Sofian,Golf Manager atTPC Kuala Lumpur.

Meet Hosni Sofian, the new face of #tpckl Golf
Operations. This golf enthusiast graduated in Golf
Management from the Professional Golfers Career
College, California. Coming from a Golf events
management background, he previously works with
Delta Trend Golf and his vast experience includes
being on the organising committee for the WAGC
World Final 2018 in which 46 countries participated.
He turned professional at the age of 24 and played
on the local PGAM tour and other national tours
around the region for 3 years. He also won the Sime
Darby Kuala Lumpur Open in 2003 at Kuala Lumpur
Golf and Country Club.

Prior to joining TPC Kuala Lumpur, he served at
the ELS Club Malaysia in 2015 as Sales Manager
overseeing. The ELS Club Teluk Datai and The ELS
Club Desaru Coast. He is also a Council Member
of The Professional Golfers Association in Malaysia
(PGAM). He is a family man with four children
who enjoys outdoor activities especially hiking and
mountain climbing and has previously conquered Mount Kinabalu.

What is your vision for Golf Operations in TPC Kuala Lumpur?
I wish to continue takingTPC Kuala Lumpur to be among the top golf clubs in the region by providing
a world class golfing experience to the Members.

What is it that makes you passionate with this line of sports? Any particular role model?
I was encouraged to play golf at the age of ten and then enjoyed the game managing to experience
winning during my early years. Justin Rose is the person who inspired me to be in this sport as I
was intrigued by the way he managed to stay on his course and kept believing in himself even after
21 consecutive missed cuts after turning professional. He went from a potential “One Hit Wonder”
to the World No.1.

What’s next in your future plan?
To gain knowledge and experience in aspiring to lead a prestigious golf club such as TPC Kuala
Lumpur.
Whilst still learning myself, I want to use my knowledge and proven experience to successfully
manage the golf operations at the prestigious TPC Kuala Lumpur for the benefit of all the Members.

HealthTalk:Enjoy your food and lose weight at the same time

On Sunday, 11 April between 3pm and 5pm, there was lots of delighted laughter coming from “The Gallery”,
one of TPC Kuala Lumpur’s function rooms, as about 20 people spent their Sunday afternoon listening to a
talk entitled “Enjoy your food and lose weight at the same time”. The speaker was a beautiful lady, Ms Apple
Lim, a celebrity dietician who has given more than 100 health talks in Malaysia and Singapore as well as
being invited several times to speak by Singapore TV, Mediacorp, and Starhub. In addition, she has published
articles in various health magazines. Apple is well qualified to talk on the subject and gave a very engaging
presentation. The audience, half of whom were TPC Kuala Lumpur’s Members, felt very connected with her,
which made the session on Question and Answers very interactive as well as being fun.
The event was jointly organised by TPC Kuala Lumpur and Izzy Health Solutions with several objectives
including raising awareness of the nutritional value of food as well as providing exposure to the danger of
eating the wrong kinds of food which can in turn lead to obesity; indeed, to create an awareness and to
briefly mention ways to reduce and overcome obesity.
Among other things, the audience learnt about how to read and follow nutrition labels so as to ensure a healthy
diet, as well as the problems created by diet myths, in addition to being given dietary recommendations for
Ramadhan.
Other than the talk itself, there were also other activities that the attendees were able to participate in, which
included a body composition analysis, a bioPhotonic antioxidant scanning and even a free consultation on
weight management by Mr Sia Chee Chai, a health and weight consultant who was kept very busy.

An activity that also got the attendees really excited was a live demonstration of the preparation of overnight
oats. We not only got to see how it’s done but also to taste the pre-prepared overnight oats, by helping
ourselves to fresh strawberries, fresh blueberries, a mixture of nuts with dried gojee berries as toppings for
the oats. The expression on everyone’s face when they tasted the ready oats was something to treasure.
The icing on the cake was yet to come as each attendee received a door gift of the ingredients to prepare
the oats themselves together with the recipe and a portion of the dried toppings! All of these ideas were
the brainchild of Puan Fadzilah Yasin, who is a Member of TPC Kuala Lumpur.
The plan is that this event was the first of a series of health-related activities to be jointly organised by
TPC Kuala Lumpur together with Izzy Health Solutions. Judging from the response of the audience, there
will certainly be another talk on food-related issues, a cooking demonstration of healthy foods, as well as
effective exercises for a healthy living. So watch this space! The whole idea of these health-related events
stems from the belief that we all need to keep ourselves healthy so as to enjoy a better quality of life.
I take this opportunity, on behalf of Izzy Health Solutions, to thank TPC Kuala Lumpur for this collaboration
which provides us the chance to share with Members and non-Members alike, issues that are closest to
our hearts. We believe for example that obesity is the root cause of many avoidable chronic conditions such
as diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol. The message from the talk is to encourage people to
eat smart, be healthy and maintain a healthy body weight. A good time was had by all and the participants
greatly benefitted from what was clearly a most enjoyable session.
