GENERAL MANAGER MESSAGE YOUR HOME AWAY FROM HOME Dear Members, I am pleased to advise that our plans for the upgrading of the golf courses and other facilities are still on track and the Management Team continues to strive to improve the service in all departments so as to provide you and your family, as well as guests and friends, with the best possible service that you so correctly expect and deserve. With the uncertain weather pattern that we have all been experiencing recently we are determined to ensure that KLGCC is truly a home away from home where, come rain or shine, you can still relax and enjoy all the activities and variety of food outlets at your disposal, without having to worry about traffic or other distractions. Ramadan is just round the corner and preparations are in full swing from our Banquet team, the promotion of the KLGCC’s Ramadan and Raya banquet packages are available. Whether for yourself or corporate entertainment these special packages and delights are for all to enjoy whilst breaking Fast in our unique surroundings. The Golfers’ Terrace will be having their all-time favourite break-fast menu with the Sundown set special available from 23rd March to 20th April 2023, be sure to place your booking one day earlier to avoid disappointment. Not to forget our famous Dapur Buffet which will be held at Sime Darby Convention Centre, and will feature mouth-watering fresh seafood served on ice, kids menu buffet, Popiah basah and not to forget the Lemang and Rendang. They have also set up a dedicated area adjacent to the hall for children to play whilst you relax and enjoy the buffet. So as to meet the wishes of all our members, we continue to expand the facilities available at KLGCC and I am pleased to advise that the well-known Spa Ceylon will soon be opening their premises to pamper to the needs of those who wish to relax before or after a round of golf or simply to recover from a tough day at the office. In order to simplify your communication with the Club and just in case you have misplaced the number, may I advise that all these activities and other events can now be booked or cancelled on our mobile App : +6019 2636548. Finally, please remember that I and the Management Team are always at your disposal and we welcome your observations whether about the overall service or facilities that you would like to be improved in order to make the KLGCC truly your “Home from Home”. Warmest regards Steven Tan General Manager KLGCC

KLGCC CAPTAIN’S MARCH MESSAGE Dear Members, With the almost daily heavy afternoon rains’ it’s certainly been a difficult and challenging time for those who prefer to play after work as well as for those who maintain our magnificent golf courses. Inspite of this however, extensive work continues to be done to ensure a smooth playing experience for everyone with particular emphasis on the putting surfaces where tinting and hollow tining are being continuously carried out to produce firm and smooth greens. The inclement weather has however been of benefit to our beautiful environment which is the envy of many in the Klang Valley. Following the problem of time delays, it has been decided that Jumbo flights will only be permitted on Wednesdays, when special Terms and Conditions will be enforced so as to ensure a smooth flow of traffic. At the same time Members and their guests will be pleased to know that flight bookings and cancellations can now be made on the KLGCC mobile App. This is 019 2636548 and the use of which should greatly reduce existing frustrations and queues. For those who missed another successful monthly medal in February, be sure to head early to the Golf Registration Counter this month so as to avoid disappointment from participating in this highly popular event. It is also encouraging to note the regular use of the two tiered Driving Range by all age groups as well as the MST Golf Academy where the adjacent F&B facilities provide a perfect spot to relax before and after playing. With the approach of Ramadan, it is good to note that the F&B and Banquet Team are preparing exciting promotions in all outlets with particular emphasis on the famous KLGCC Dapur Buffet at the Golfers’ Terrace where special Early Bird vouchers are already on sale. There is surely no better place to break fast with family and guests as well as have traditional corporate entertainment. As we build on our role as the focal point of the local community may I sincerely thank Members who continue to contribute to the recycling efforts by donating clothing and un used white goods that will be collected, sorted and distributed on your behalf to those in need. We are indeed a family Club and may I encourage Members to maximise the use of our wide range of unique world class outlets and facilities in the middle of the Klang Valley. There is surely no better place to enhance family ties and for all ages to make new contacts and friends. Wishing you all good wishes and “Happy Clubbing” Love thy Club Datuk Syed Tamim Captain KLGCC

Gallery KLGCC bowling alley was bursting with energy from the friendly bowling tournament between Sime Darby Property and Tatler Malaysia. This friendly match was organized by the Tatler team and hosted by KLGCC. The event was a great success, with employees from both companies enjoying the chance to let their hair down and engage in some friendly competition. It just goes to show that even in business, it’s important to remember the human element and foster positive relationships with those around us. An all-white solemnization took place at Sime Darby Convention Centre, on 11 February 2023. (NAME) white wedding was a stunning affair that left guests in awe. Genevieve Ling Meet Our Ambassador Tell us about yourself My name is Genevieve Ling, I’m 28 years old this year and I’m a professional golfer. This will be my 5th year competing on tour and I’ve played on multiple tours around the world including the China LPGA, Taiwan LPGA, Korean LPGA and am currently competing on the Ladies European Tour. How did you start with golf? I started golf at the age of 12 and picked it up with both my dad and my sister. My dad was picking up the game and decided to bring his kids along and from there, my love for the sport grew and I couldn’t be more grateful to have been given the chance to not only play this game, but to pursue it as a career. What inspired you to be a professional golfer? Once I picked up the sport, I don’t remember exactly when, but I knew that I loved it and wanted to continue playing this sport. Prior to playing golf, I played many other sports but never really had a passion for them. I always loved being outdoors, being active and playing sports; but golf was the only sport that ignited a passion in me to want to pursue it further. When I was picking up the game, Tiger Woods was at his peak and it was amazing to not only see him play golf, but to see that he was doing what I loved as his career and that he was able to inspire and unite so many people around the world playing this game. I think from there, I just knew that given the opportunity, I would want to do the same. Who is your biggest inspiration? In this sport, I’ve got to say Tiger Woods. I admire his work ethic and his game. People may say that he got to where he is because he is talented but talent can only take you so far so I think that the hours spent behind the curtains that we saw on television through his game, is amazing and inspiring to every single golfer out there. Seeing that you’ve travelled across the world, which course is your most favorite? I think that every single golf course is so different and unique, which is what makes golf so fun and exciting. It’s hard to pick one.. I think that my favourite competition course would have to be Dinah Shore in Mission Hills and the most unique course that I have played would be Aland Golfklubb, which is in Finland. I played there last year and we had to take a ferry to the island, and its quite a quaint island but the golf course is beautiful and you definitely get some spectacular views! What achievement are you most proud of? I think that winning the PGM in Saujana multiple years in a row would still be the highlight (so far) but in terms of most recently, I am proud of myself for being able to advance my career in spite of the covid pandemic. I think the pandemic was a stressful time for most (if not all) of us but I felt very burdened by it as I was not able to practice or “do my job” for over a year and I felt like it would deter my progress; especially since the precautions in Malaysia were a lot steeper than they were in many other countries, and I felt like I was falling behind. Therefore, I think that being able to get status on the LET after the pandemic and then compete and get some top 30 finishes was something that I should be proud of.

What is a normal weekend for a professional golfer? The weekends are when I try to take some time off because I usually practice 5-6 days in a week (off tournament weeks). For me, this is when I take time to relax, spend some time with my family, and recuperate for the upcoming week! What are your future plans in golf? I think that in terms of what I want to achieve in my golfing career, I am still far from done. I would like to compete as long as I am able to and to constantly take my game to the next level and of course, win! What is your favorite dish at Golfers Terrace? My favourite dish, if I had to choose one, would have to be the roti canai. A classic Malaysian favourite and honestly, KLGCC has one of the best ones because its always crispy and fresh! If you haven’t tried it yet, you’re definitely missing out! What is the best piece of advice you could give to future golfers? I think my best piece of advice would be to keep playing golf! Whether you want to pursue it as a career or not, golf is an amazing sport that you can not only play until you’re old and grey, but it is also a sport that can teach you lessons that you cannot learn elsewhere. Golf is a sport that will most definitely in some way help you in your life; whether it be through maturing you as a human being, whether it be through the people that you might meet on the golf course or whether it be through the experiences that you will garner through playing this sport. I’ve met a lot of people through golf and even those who stopped pursuing it as a career, never regretted it because of the lessons that they have learned through it so I think that it is a gem of a sport that not many get the chance to play so if you are one of the lucky ones, you should most definitely treasure this experience!

MESSAGE FROM GENERAL MANAGER ON GOLF COURSE CONDITION March 2023 Dear Members, I am writing to acknowledge the feedback given by members in the decline golf course conditions in recent times. And I would like to update the club members on the situation and the actions being taken to improve the condition. The root causes behind the decline in condition are due to the impact of labour shortage, inadequate working machineries, and unfavourable weather conditions. 1. To address the impact of labour shortage, we have hired 40 new golf course maintenance staff members and training is also being conducted to ensure the right skills. Alongside, supervisors will also undergo training in greenkeeping in May 2023 as part of the continuous improvement of staff capabilities. 2. We also plan to hire an additional eight new machine operators by May 2023 and are renting and acquiring additional machineries with immediate effect to improve capacity, while progressively replace maintenance machinery to increase efficiency. Rough mower, fairway mower, skid-loader and tractors are part of the machineries that are in the plans. 3. Given the unfavourable weather conditions, we have implemented agricultural preventative and corrective actions. These practices include increasing the height of mowing, minimising rolling of the greens to reduce stress on the turfgrass and applying fungicides/insecticides/nematicides. 4. In addition, the grass in the affected tee box (East Course Hole 12) was severely damaged as it was not marked properly (also shown in a video by our member) is now designated as ground-under-repair (GUR) and it was replanted with Zoysia grass which is more shade-tolerant. As a proactive action, all other tee boxes will also be replanted with Zoysia grass. This will be done progressively (two holes per week) with target completion by August 2023. 5. We are also progressively replacing bunker sand as per USGA specifications (one bunker per week) with target completion by August 2023 for the West course and August 2024 for the East course. 6. And we have temporary implemented buggy on track to facilitate the above activities Your well-being and golfing experience is of utmost importance, and I would like to assure you that that impact on your gameplay will be minimised while the initiatives above, in addition to regular maintenance activities, are carried out. I am also committed to update you in relation to the golf course maintenance progress as well as on the oncoming steps on a weekly basis. You are encouraged to sign up KLGCC WhatsApp Circular at +6019 263 6548. Thank you for your patience as we work through these issues and improvements and strive to maintain the highest standards of our award-winning golf course at Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club. Steven Tan
