GENERAL MANAGER’S MESSAGE “TIME AND TIDE WAITS FOR NO MAN” Dear Members, It’s hard to believe that we are already into the month of February but, although slightly belated may I take this opportunity to again wish you all “Gong Xi Fa Cai” and I trust that the year of the Water Rabbit will bring good health, happiness, prosperity and peace to us all. I have had good feedback from Members, Guests and friends who were amazed at the breath-taking skills of the acrobatic lion dancers who performed at the club as part of the traditional celebrations. I am pleased to advise that the Management Team has already drawn up a list of upgrades to the club facilities to continuously improve the facilities for members. Once designs are completed, it will be made known to the members. The renovations have started at the new Korean Restaurant located at the East Lobby to compliment the wide range of culinary outlets already in existence. Please be on the lookout for the Early Bird Vouchers for the Dapur Ramadan buffet at Sime Darby Convention Center and the sunset buka puasa menu at KLGCC for our Members and guest as we have new items on the menu to unveil. For those keen to get back into shape after the recent festive season, Kiara Physiotherapy as well as our own personal trainers at the Gymnasium will help you on your road to better health. CLUB CAPTAIN’S MESSAGE “TIME MARCHES ON” My sincere greetings to Members, Families and Friends as we “Hop” into the Year of the Rabbit and I trust that you all enjoyed suitable celebrations at this traditionally busy time of the year which also included Thaipusam. It’s hard to believe that 2022 is now part of history. I know that your Committee and the General Manager and his Team have an exciting programme of Events and Activities planned for the year ahead and it is particularly gratifying to know that there will be a special focus on the Family and Community aspects of our Vision, as the KLGCC continues to play our part as one of the leading Clubs in the Far East and indeed the World. I am proud to be a part of this initiative and most grateful for the generous support of you all. It was pleasing to see the good turnout for the initial Monthly Medal on the East Course last weekend and my congratulations to all the participants who inspite of the recent inclement weather had a great day of camaraderie and fun as they challenged each other for the wide range of prizes. I also thank them for their patience with the returfed areas of the 2nd and 13th Fairways which obliged them to use a drop zone, albeit without penalty. It certainly augers well for the year ahead and may I encourage everyone to register early for the February Event that takes place later this month. This is especially important if you need a caddie. A shortage of manpower is prevalent everywhere in the Service industry but please be assured that the matter is being addressed as a matter of urgency and whether on the Golf Course or at the Golfers’ Terrace we thank you for your tolerance at this challenging time. It is exciting to know that our range of culinary outlets will soon be expanded to include a Korean Restaurant which will mean that we are now able to cater for all diets and choices of food, in the very centre of the Klang Valley and only a stone’s throw from the City Centre. Whether on the golf course, at the swimming pool, on the tennis court or in one of the various food outlets may I wish you all a very joyous year ahead. Held in the Banquet Hall and themed “transformers battleground”, the hall was decorated with balloons and transformers themed décor, not just that, Bumblebee and Optimus Prime made a special appearance to the party as well! Great food was served with all sorts of desserts were available all day. Congratulations to the happy couple! Friends and families of Sarah and Haris Lim gathered for their marriage solemnisation ceremony that was filled with joy and laughter. Held at the Sime Darby Convention Centre’s Grand Ballroom on 14 January 2023, the ceremony oozed an ethereal vibe. The décor was with lush florals and wistful tones. gallery Toyota Tour Landed in KLGCC! Ushering the year of the rabbit Toyota (Malaysia) drove its way to KLGCC to reveal its Professional Golfers of Malaysia’s 2023 tour calendar. Being the title sponsor of the tour named “Toyota Tour”, the reveal was at the Banquet Hall KLGCC, media and golfers alike gather to witness the unveiling of the tour’s schedule. Hosted by the beautiful Jenny Woon, the crowds was wowed with the conference as well the amazing food that was served. Interesting facts about the tour is that each tournament for the Toyota tour will be named after a Toyota vehicle model. The 2023 Toyota Tour certainly sets the stage for an exciting year for professional golf in Malaysia. The sound of exciting drums and cymbals filled the air as Club members and their families, young and old alike gather at KLGCC on Saturday 28 January 2023 to watch the spectacular Lion Dance by the award-winning Khuan Loke Lion Dance association. The event began with a blessing ceremony for the clubhouse. Two lions walked around the clubhouse from the East lobby Building to the West Lobby, where they put on a thrilling acrobatic show! Mandarin oranges were given to the crowds as they gather around the stilts. It was truly a special moment for everyone to witness again such incredible performances live at the Club. We look forward to hosting more family- friendly events at KLGCC and wishes everyone a joyful and prosperous year!
