GENERAL MANAGER MESSAGE TIME MARCHES ON Greetings from the Management Team, With nearly half a year already behind us and the month of Ramadan filled with fun and laughter at various reunions with family and friends, there are still many activities to look forward to in the months ahead. I would like to thank the team for all the hard work they continue to put in to ensure that there is a wide range of activities to cater to all members of the family at KLGCC. One thing over which we have no control has been the extraordinary weather conditions, which have ranged from torrential rain and severe electrical storms to almost unbearable heat. All of these have presented specific problems, particularly leading to the postponement of the eagerly awaited East Course Family Fun Day until September. Make sure to drink plenty of water and take adequate protection against heatstroke when going outside, whether to play golf, swim, or simply relax in the open air. Despite these challenges, the ground staff have been able to maintain the upkeep of the two courses to international standards. Specific congratulations are due to them for the recent nomination by HAPA for the KLGCC West Course to be one of Malaysia’s best Tourism Destinations. The courses provide members with one of the best golfing experiences anywhere in the country. In addition to the special Golf Afternoon for members and their families, which will be held this month, global attention is being turned to the LPGA’s Maybank Championship, which we are proud to be hosting in October. Excitement is already being heard in the locker rooms of the high-quality field, who are looking forward to once again experiencing truly Malaysian hospitality for which KLGCC is so well-known. We are currently planning an exciting range of promotions, activities, and events as we lead up to the event itself. Please watch this space for details, which will be announced as soon as they become available. Details of all the activities available at KLGCC are available on our website and WhatsApp. If you have not already done so, may I urge you to register on +6019 2636548 to stay up to date on all activities. Alternatively, you can call +603 20119187/189 or +603 20119210. Meanwhile, keep well and stay safe. with warmest regards Steven Tan General Manager
KLGCC CAPTAIN’S MARCH MESSAGE It was so good to see many members with family and friends at the KLGCC Aidilfitri Open House on May 21st, and my particular thanks go to the excellent organisation of the whole management team. As we all know, the entire country has been experiencing extraordinary weather conditions in recent weeks, with violent electrical storms, torrential rain, and unparalleled heat. I would like to congratulate the Agronomy Team and Ground Staff for their efforts in maintaining our two courses in excellent condition despite these challenges. At the same time, I would like to caution members to follow the guidelines for beating the heat by staying hydrated and carrying water with them while playing. These guidelines are highlighted on our WhatsApp channel at 019 2636548. If you have any doubts, please feel free to call our team for guidance at +60320119188/151. Make sure to register for the Monthly Medal taking place on Saturday, June 24th. For those who need additional preparation, don’t forget about the classes available at our golf academy. Also, keep an eye out for details of the Afternoon Golf Promo, which will be launched by the Golf Department later this month. As a truly international sporting and family club, I would also like to draw your attention to the wide range of classes available under the supervision of qualified coaches. Whether it be for golf, tennis, swimming, badminton, squash, or various martial arts, we have something for everyone. And let’s not forget those who prefer to exercise by walking in our unique environment in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. For those who may overexert themselves, the services of Kiara Physiotherapy are available for a swift recovery. You can reach them via WhatsApp at +6012 275 5227. For the more adventurous golfers, I am pleased to announce the recent reciprocal arrangements KLGCC has established with Tanah Merah Country Club in Singapore and our affiliation with Montgomerie Links Golf Club in Vietnam. Both clubs will provide our members with a very warm welcome combined with a truly enjoyable golfing experience. Full details of the arrangements and activities being made in conjunction with the Maybank LPGA Championship, which we are proud to be hosting in October, will soon be available. I encourage everyone to mark their calendars now to experience this exciting event, which the players themselves are eagerly looking forward to. Until then, my best wishes to you all, and please do not hesitate to let me know personally if you have any observations or feedback regarding the activities, facilities, or services of KLGCC, your very special club. Happy Clubbing. Love thy club Datuk Syed Tamim Captain KLGCC

ROAD TO LPGA : The Historic Moments The history of the LPGA is filled with remarkable moments that have etched themselves into the annals of women’s golf. From iconic shots to spectacular finishes, these unforgettable moments have captivated fans and showcased the extraordinary talent of the players. One such moment that will forever be etched in LPGA history is Annika Sörenstam’s 59 at the 2001 Standard Register PING tournament. Sörenstam’s flawless round of golf, which included 13 birdies, was a testament to her skill and determination. It remains one of the lowest rounds ever recorded in professional golf, male or female. In 2007, Lorena Ochoa produced an extraordinary finish at the Kraft Nabisco Championship. Trailing by five strokes with five holes to play, Ochoa mounted a remarkable comeback, carding five consecutive birdies to secure the victory. Her display of unwavering focus and clutch play in the face of adversity left an indelible mark on the tournament’s history. The 2019 AIG Women’s British Open witnessed a thrilling playoff between Hinako Shibuno and Lizette Salas. Shibuno, a relative unknown on the global stage, sank a nerve-wracking 18-foot birdie putt on the final hole to claim the championship. Her exuberant celebration and raw emotion endeared her to fans around the world, making it one of the most memorable finishes in recent years. These iconic shots and spectacular finishes epitomize the magic and drama of the LPGA. They showcase the unwavering determination, skill, and competitive spirit of the players who have graced the tour. As fans, we are privileged to witness these extraordinary moments and celebrate the rich history of women’s golf. One upcoming event that promises to add another chapter to the rich history of the LPGA is the tournament scheduled to be held at the Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club. As fans, we have the unique opportunity to witness history in the making as the world’s best female golfers converge on this prestigious course. Let us come together to celebrate the legacy of the LPGA and be part of the magic and excitement that unfolds at KLGCC, where history will be written by the remarkable athletes who grace the fairways.
