Rapid Response to
RID 3232 in COVID19
Pandemic Relief Work

T he Rotary Dist 3232 through the Rotary Foundation’s Global Grant Projects and Disaster Response
Grant having been rendering yeoman service to community by fighting this Pandemic COVID-19.
The various Rotary Clubs of our District, are providing Rs 4.5 crores worth equipment to Govt General
Hospitals. These include donation of Ventilators, ICU Care equipment, PPE, Collection Booths, Patient Cots,
Disinfectant Sprayers, Hand sanitizers and Face Masks. This is raised by the following Global Grant Projects
that has been approved in record time of, within 3 days, from the date of submission, so far from our District.

A sum of Rs 18.75 lakhs ( US$ 25,000 ) as Disaster Response Grant was awarded to our District 3232 from
TRF’s Disaster Response Fund in a record time of within few hours. Based on the need, mentioned by the
Hon’ble Health Minister of TN Govt, 100 nos Patients Cots and Mattresses were donated to the Coimbatore
ESI Hospital. We had 1 lakh masks distributed to the needy through the various Rotary Clubs.

We have distributed Rs 36 lakhs worth of Essential Food Provision Kit for Migrant Workers and Needy
Families. We received Rs 17 lakhs from various Rotary Club & Donors, 12 lakhs as a CSR Funding and Rs 7
lakhs as crowdfunding initiative of Fueladream website portal.

A Pole Star is the brightest star in the constellation
nearest to the celestial pole at any particular time.
They are nearly aligned to the axis.Thus the Pole
star is the ideal star to look for direction.Such being
the characteristics of the Rotary Club of Madras, the
Awards Committee 2019 - 2020, the District Governor
2019 - 2020 and the District Administration deemed it
a honour to confer the first ROTARY POLE STAR Award
of RI District 3232 at the awards ceremony for the
Rotary year 2019 - 2020.held on the 18 th July 2019.

True to traditions, the projects of the year included
a state of the art high school at Perumbakkam at an
outlay of INR 7 Crores completed in a record time
of fifteen months, two Lake restoration project,Her
Place- a sanitation project on the swanky Pondy Bazar
exclusively for women managed by professionals,
Dialysis for the disadvantaged, Old Age Home and
medical supplies worth USD 300,000 during Covid
19 to the Government Hospitals ensured a total
project spend of Ten crores.

RC of Madras were the highest contributors to

position in Rotary Year 2019 - 2020.Being the
District Governors Club they had added responsibility
and commitment in their service projects.

Undoubtedly they had a wonderful year in service,

President Rtn K K Ramesh, the board and the North
Westerners , the Awards Committee believed it only
right to exclude the Governor’s Club from the Category
wise Awards List. With their kind understanding,RC of

and dedication in Rotary Service during the year,

Charaka Award

Acharya Charaka, born in 300BC, was the first physician
to present the concept of digestion, metabolism and
immunity. He considered the heart to be the body’s
controlling centre and he authored the Charaka Samhita,
which till today has a very high standing in the field of
medicine.

It’s thus apt to have chosen this name by RCG, for the
award dedicated to Outstanding Medical Service.

This year (7th edition), the Charaka award is being
presented to Dr. Pichai Suryanarayana on the 17th by
Rtn PDG. ISAK Nazar to the awardee for his years of
yeoman service in the field of medicine.

Donation of Motorized Wheelchair

Rotary Club of Adambakkam affirmed its commitment
with the support of Ms Gowri Kamakshi , CEO- SUT
Academy of Medical Science, Trivandrum , Kerala
assisted the underprivileged of the society to lead a
better life by donating a motorizedWheelchair worth
Rs. 65,000/- on 1st February 2020, to a physically
challenged person, Mr.BalaKrishnan , resident of
Adambakkam ,needed support for mobility in a
manual wheelchair. The motorized wheelchair has
now empowered him to be independent to move
around without anybody’s assistance.

Rising Stars – Season 1 – A Fundraiser initiative of Rotary Club of Adambakkam

Stars - Season 1 - a competition to test children in Arts & Culture Team, Rotary District 3232 and Rtn.

of this event with photos. The proceeds collected
from this event would be used by Rotary Club of
Adambakkam to build a Vegetable garden at a
Government Aided School.

WinS session at RCA’s Interact Schools

Commemorating the occasion of the Centennial
Celebrations of Rotary in India, Rotary Club of
Adambakkam conducted a simultaneous WinS
awareness session to the students of its Interact
School AJS Nidhi Higher Secondary School, Alandur
andThanthai Periyar Govt Higher Secondary School,
Puzhithivakkam. More than 100 students attended
this session from AJS Nidhi School which was
conducted by Rtn. Varadharajan and 50 students
attended this session at Thanthai Periyar School which
was conducted by Charter President Rtn Dr. G. Malathi.
Posters circulated by theWinS team of Rotary District
3232 were handed over to the school authorities
to be put up in prominent places where students
would be able to see and get educated on the good
effects of following this practice. Washing kits were
distributed to the school to be kept separately for
girls and boys in each school

Laptop Distribution to Schools Puzhithivakkam, 3 laptops were handed over to
Rotary Club of Adambakkam utilized the JANS Matriculation School, Chitlapakkam and 1
opportunity window that was made available laptop was handed over to the Municipal School,
through the Rotary Ford Digital Literacy Initiative Nanganallur. The objective of handing over this

RCME is proud to announce Feed my Chennai.
23000 meals a day in 15 zones consisting of
96 shelters .
Feed the Need is a humanitarian initiative by
Rotary Club of Madras East, RI District 3232 to
provide food assistance for families affected by
COVID-19 lock down. We are closely supporting
the Greater Chennai Corporation through this
initiative. We will be supporting 23000 + Daily
Wagers and Migrant Workers across 15 Zones of
GCC which has 96 Shelters. We will support them
with 10000+ Meals per day for next 12 days.
The Food includes both cooked food and dry
Ration. We have shortlisted Top 3 Kitchens from
6 Kitchens and are as follows:
1. Eco Kitchen, Ijambakkam
2. Goldline Catering, T Nagar
3. A N Cuisines
All the kitchens are approved by Greater Chennai
Corporation. Greater Chennai and they are
extremely happy with our Timely Support.

Dear Friends in Rotary, Corona Virus
Lockdown, has left many, in need of
food. Rotary and Rotarians being People
of Action, have stepped into serve the
community in these Challenging times.
We at Rotary International District 3232,
had organised a community kitchen to
prepare food, to distribute to the needy.
About 4000 packets were distributed
in 2 days of 25th and 26th Mar. As the
Govt has stopped NGOs preparing the
food, we plan to distribute only Essential
Food Provision Items such as Rice, Dhal,
Cooking Oil, Sugar, Tamarind, Soap, Mask,
Sanitizer to daily wage-earning families,
to sustain 21 days of lockdown. Thanks
to our Connecting Presidents and Rotary
Clubs we have raised so far Rs 7.5 lakhs
that will reach our Target of Rs 10 lakhs.
Fueladream, a crowd funding portal, have
come forward to support our initiative by
helping to raise money of upto Rs 15 lakhs
from general public, other than Rotarians.
