PREFACE

Praise the authors, pray for the presence of Allah SWT for the completion of 2D
and 3D animation vocabulary booklets for skills competency for multimedia
vocational schools. This book explains 2D and 3D animation vocabulary in
accordance with the basic competencies of the 2013 curriculum which teaches
students to be able to create animated works in accordance with the needs of the
world of work. in terms of presentation, this book is very different from other
books. The difference can be seen in the content which prioritizes understanding
vocabulary with the intention of adding students' knowledge and skills. This book
is also equipped with pictures so that students will find it easier understand the
icon on the feature.
Thus, I hope that this book will create reliable young Indonesian animators who
are able to show their creativity in the international arena. In addition, I hope that
what has been learned will be a blessing for all of us.

The Definition of Animation
Animation comes from the English word "animation" which means to move. In
principle, animation is a moving image, which is arranged in a pre-determined
storyline and within a certain time duration. These images are a collection of
various objects, such as images of people, animals, plants, text, vehicles and
buildings, the use of animation has been known since 2,000 years ago in Egypt
with the discovery of murals on tombs showing caterpillars in various positions
and movements. This drawing habit was also practiced by other nations, namely
the Greeks and Romans. This is known to be the forerunner of animation. In 1941,
Winsor MacCay who was given the nickname "Father of World Animation" made
the first animation entitled (Gertie is Dinosaurs)

What is Animation ?

Animation is a moving image arranged in a predetermined plot and in a certain
duration. Aanimation is divided into 2 :
1. 2D animation is a type of animation in two dimensions, meaning that 2D

animators create images and characters in a two-dimensional format and
animate them with movement
2. 3D animation is the creation of moving images in 3-dimensional digital space.
