Adverbs 6 Topic N6 An adverb is a part of speech that describes or modifies a verb, an adjective, a clause or a sentence. Examples What are Adverbs of Manner? • they end in –ly • they tell us in what way or how something happens A few adverbs do not end in –ly: well; fast; hard; straight. NOTE Remember: The words friendly, lonely and daily are NOT adverbs of manner. 4 Zero Article There are times when an article is not needed, as shown below. This is sometimes known as zero article.
