What Is It?

Romance scams happen when
people online make fake profiles on
social media or even dating apps. They
will try to manipulate people into giving
them money, getting sexual pictures,
and some even kidnap them. On dating
apps 38% of people are perpertrated
as catfishers. Additionally, 25% of
rapist go on dating sites to find people.
This is a very serious topic because
people are going missing and they are
being tricked thinking they found their
soulmates.

How to Aviod being Scammed And What to do if
You Were Scammed

-Go search their picture in google and look If you do that you can ask questions based on the real
for social media accounts person’s social media and if they answer wrong they you are
being catfished.

-Never give them money or your If you did give them money or personal information, contact
information your bank and go to FBI’s Internet Complaint Center.

- Ask questions, like a lot of them. It’s ok to be suspicious, asking questions could make that

they ask for it, most likely that’s all they want from you, don’t be
