Nurses that have four years of education are called Bachelor of Science nurse. Also, the
companies who hire these nurses prefer them to have at least two years’ experience in that
department they are perusing a job in. These nurses are very common to find around any
hospital or doctors’ offices. These nurses usually make sure that the patients are care of.
Depending on the setting the nurses are the ones who assess the patient first and the
collect the information from the patients about their issues. Once the nurse has assessed
the patient they talk to the Doctor about the patient before the Doctor sees the patient.
The nurse helps the patient understand their treatment plan, if the nurse works in a

have a very caring personality when it comes to taking care of people. My personality is a
natural care taker. The DWYA results weren’t very true to me so I do not take what it says
into consideration. Because it says I’d be interested in the assistance part of the medical
field like a tool preparation technician. I do not that would suit me at all. I would be
miserable doing something like that.
b. Why is this career significant to you? Why did you choose to go into this career? What

myself as being a nurse. Nothing really inspired me it’s just been something I have always

Resume
What I have learned is the presentation of your resume is what matters. When you create
a resume, you want to be very conscious about what you put because the first 6 seconds is what
sells to the recruiter. It does not matter on your level of experience it is all about how you present
yourself, this article and video did teach me how to do so. It is important to not make the resume
so fluffy looking it will make it look like you are trying way too hard to impress. It is important
to keep your resume relevant and not put things from high school it is important to make sure
you are doing things actively now. Even though it can be hard to maintain a group to take part in
you can always make your own and put it down. The verbiage you use is something that is very
important like not using pronouns. I would never have figured that out I would have assumed to
use MLA style of writing. Don’t always go with the typical reference portion also. It was good to
read this because it did help give me some insight on how to do this.

Career Portfolio
I decided on this career because, I find it the most interesting job. I want to make sure I
am working a job I like. My parents always told me I would be a good nurse so that’s why I
chose to be a nurse. And I do have a weird talent to diagnose people with a proper illness I’ve
done it multiple times with family members. My Do What You are does not really accurately
represent me I feel it was not even close to what I am really like. It says I am quiet and that’s far
from the truth especially when you know me I can talk a lot. It does reflect me very well in the
fact that when you first get to know I’m like that. I take a while to warm up to people. When it
comes to decision making I can be indecisive. If I take a day to think about something I will
make a final decision. When it comes to shopping I will buy something out of impulse but when
I get home I rationalize why I don’t need whatever I bought. So, I try to stay away from buying
things.
My previous knowledge of this was very broad I have spent a lot of time looking this
career over in high school and I did a lot of projects with nursing. So, you could say I am an
expert. I think this helped fire my passion because I know what I’m getting myself into and I
always make sure I know what I am getting into. I won’t waste my time if I don’t know every
fact or detail about something. So, that’s why I think this job will fit my personality because it is
the same steps over and over and nothing is really changing. Yes, the medical advancements are
evolving but that’s normal to adapt to. This job is straight forward but yet it will always remain

Dexter 2

fun because you will always see new faces and you do not have to worry about getting fired
because there will always need big need for nurses. I would love to learn more about other
people and I think this is a perfect fit for me because I know I will be able to do that. I would
love to learn other things about the medical field that I don’t know now. I have always found that
stuff interesting and I look forward to constantly learning on the job.

The needed education and certification, you will need to attend college for four years. In
the first two years, you work on your basics which is your Associates of Science then you will
work on your Bachelor’s which is the training portion of your degree. During your bachelor’s
you will be required to do hands on training and you will need to complete all the hours before
you take your boards and state boards. Once you have completed all of those steps you can go
ahead and apply to a job anywhere you wish to work. Some of the offices/hospitals may require
extra certification.

Depending on the shift/office your hours will vary. If you work a hospital shift you
typically work 9am-9pm vice versa for the other shift. Personally, I would rather work at an
office because then it will be an 8am-5pm job and that is way more manageable for me. An
office job is way more structured you are aware of everything at all times and nothing really
changes. There are all a couple of different nursing positions. You can be a manager, or even be
on the business side of a hospital you can help run the hospital. Any nurse can typically work
different places if you’re in a hospital you can work labor and delivery one day or recovery and
post op the next day. I know I will like this job because it is very structured and I love things
with structure. My dislikes may be the hours if I decide to work in a hospital. I like my schedule
to stay the same pretty much all the time.

Dexter 3

The big employers of this job in Houston are Methodists they have expanded their
hospital’s all over Houston and they are constantly looking for nurses and they are supposed to
be the best company to work for as a nurse. Also, another big one for pediatrics is Texas
Children’s the are always hiring and they are supposed to me the best in Texas for pediatric care.

In the end, I believe this is the best fit for me and I know I will be able to enjoy this job.
It is a field that always has a demand for jobs the pay is decent and there are many options you
can explore. You don’t have to work in the same company there are options to hop around and
explore something different if you wish to do so.
