What is patriotism? Is the display of our love for the country Editorial Board
limited to a game of cricket? In recent times we have witnessed
numerous instances where we were provided with opportunities Chief Editor

apologizing when your country has been wrong, and learning Shubh Mahajan (XIC)
from mistakes of the past to make a stronger future. While we Reporters
celebrate our country's every achievement, we must refrain from Aashvi (IXB)
belittling other nations. In modern India patriotism plays an Parv Choudhary (IXG)

FESTIVE FERVOUR
Ram Navami, celebrated to commemorate Aavya Pandey(IVB) as Kulguru Mitali Gusain(IVF) and Pihu Makan(IVB)
the birth of Lord Rama, is a spring Hindu Kaikeyi and Dashrath
festival which marks the birth of Lord Rama,
the seventh avatar of Lord Vishnu on the Kanupriya Sharma(IIIA) and Ahana Malhotra(IIIA)
ninth day of Chaitra Navratri. According to as Dhartimata and Manthra
legend, Lord Rama is considered the seventh
incarnation of Lord Vishnu as he was born to
King Dashratha and Queen Kaushalya in
Ayodhya in the Tretha Yug. According to the
Hindu calendar, this festival falls in the Shukla
Paksha of the Chaitra month. The festival was
celebrated virtually by the students of classes
3 and 4 . They performed the show with a lot
of enthusiasm and enjoyment.

Ganesh Chaturthi, the festival to mark the birth of Lord
Ganesha, was celebrated online on 11 September 2021. It
commenced with the singing of devotional songs in praise of
‘Vighnaharta,’ the one who removes all the obstacles and
sufferings from our lives. Then, the birth of Lord Ganpati was
depicted through a skit presented by the students of classes 2
and 3. A few students came to school with their parents to
celebrate the festival and performed dances invoking the
Lord and seeking his blessings. Our Principal, Ms. A. Aggarwal
blessed everyone with her warm wishes and pearls of
wisdom. After the puja, prasad was distributed to all the
students, teachers and parents present for the celebration.
Ganesh Chaturthi Celebrations
Eid Al - Adha
Eid Al – Adha, a sacred Muslim
festival, was celebrated in a
unique way. Students of class II
performed a skit exhibiting their
talent and also imparted us with
the details of this festival through
their song. They participated
enthusiastically and it proved to
be an enriching experience for
them.
Students of classes 4 and 5 celebrated Onam by showing
a documentary on the story of the appearance of the
Vamana avatar of Lord Vishnu and the subsequent
homecoming of the legendary King Mahabali. The
children talked about various activities which take place
during the festival. A student also took us on a virtual
journey of his house where we saw the family members
celebrating the festival and enjoying a great feast.
Onam Celebrations
Janmashtami Celebrations
Every year Janmashtami is celebrated with great enthusiasm
on a grand scale by the students of our school. This year too
the students of Classes Nursery, KG and Class 1 celebrated the
birth of Lord Krishna virtually. The online Janmashtami
function was witnessed by the parents and students with
great zeal and fervour. Students of classes II, III and IV
celebrated this auspicious festival by enthusiastically
participating in various activities. They decorated crowns,
made posters, engaged in beautiful craft activities like Diya
decoration and jhula craft and some even sang songs in praise
of Lord Krishna. Some of them also narrated interesting tales
about young Shri Krishna and enacted the characters of
Krishna, Radha, Balram and Sudama.
Offline Celebrations – Celebrating the birth of Lord Krishna
Independence Day
We celebrated our 75th Independence Day through online celebrations and fun filled activities. The flag
hoisting ceremony took place in school in the presence of our Chairman, Mr. T.P. Aggarwal, Principal, Ms. A.
Aggarwal and Vice Principals, Ms. R. Anand and Ms. A. Gupta. Online celebrations included a dance
performance on ‘Des Rangeela’, followed by the National Anthem and the school song. Our principal gave
her good wishes and reminded everyone that freedom is precious and it is necessary to preserve it. Students
of class VII and VIII , gave a beautiful dance performance on ‘Eradication of Child Labour. This was followed
by Character Dramatization on the various unsung heroes of the freedom struggle like Khudiram Bose,
Pingali Venkayya, Kamala Devi Chattopadhyay , etc. The students also sang a medley of Patriotic songs. Pre
primary and primary students engaged in a number of activities like creating an image of a tiger using hand
printing technique, sharing information related to the National symbols, making tricoloured bird, wall
paintings and pen holders, flags and photo frames.
Raksha Bandhan is a special occasion to
celebrate the bond of love between
brothers and sisters which is one of the
deepest of all human emotions. Many
activities were organised for primary
students. ‘Rakhi Making Activity’ was
organized for the students of class KG and
Nursery and to sweeten the occasion they
also prepared an Oreo Vanilla Milkshake .
Students of Class I-III enjoyed a range of
activities like laddu making, card making,
eco-friendly rakhis, and creating a rakhi
thali and gift hampers. Students of Class IV
and V narrated various mythological stories
where Raksha Bandhan plays a significant
role. They shared interesting anecdotes
about their sibling and spoke about the gift
they would like to give to them on this
joyous occasion.

Corona Warriors Award 2021 for the selfless work
she has been doing in the field of education.
Avantika is a group of contemporary intellectuals
and social workers who have been actively
working for rendering support and services for
bettering the education system.
Our Vice Principal Felicitated
Ms. Ritika Anand, our Vice Principal was felicitated with
CBSE Honour of Excellence in Teaching and School
Leadership 2020 - 21 by the Minister of State for
Education, Annapurna Devi, for her exemplary work
during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic to implement
digital learning. It was indeed a proud moment for us as
she was one of the only 22 educators honoured by CBSE
pan India. She played a major role in PM eVidya
programme, a unique and innovative venture of Prime
Minister Narendra Modi to facilitate multi-mode access
to digital teaching contents even to the remotest parts of
the country. Ms. Anand is a Microsoft Innovative
Educators Experts (MIEE) for two consecutive years 2020
- 21 and 2021 - 22. She has worked very closely with
NCERT to deliver lessons in Science that would enable all
students pan India understand the concepts easily. In
addition, she also collaborated with many institutions
including NCERT, NIOS, and CBSE and delivered
innumerable lectures on various topics promoting
experiential learning for teachers and students.

CBSE RESULT–CLASS XII
The students of Class X performed equally well after taking their first ever Board exam that too
after such an unexpected year. Tanush Royal(98.8%), Harsh(98.8%), Vishwesh Kumar
Gupta(98.2%) and Krishita Garg(97.2%) were the top scorers. 174 students got distinctions in
all five subjects . We are indeed proud of the performance of all the students!

SMS CHRONICLES
Our school completed and celebrated 31 years of
excellence on 20th April 2021. To commemorate our
school’s Foundation Day, the students of Classes X and
XII put up a great show for everyone to cherish. The
program commenced with nostalgic messages from our
Chairman, Mr. T.P Aggarwal and Principal, Ms. A.
Aggarwal. They both shared their thoughts on the
school’s journey from Genesis to Zenith and
congratulated everyone for having raised the bar of
success year after year. Then came an array of various
cultural items, which was a beautiful mosaic of a poem,
speech, songs, orchestra and dances. The students
were also engaged in number of activities. Right from
pre-primary and primary students to the middle
section, students were engaged in celebrating their
school’s birthday. They designed logos, banners,
prepared birthday cakes, composed beautiful poems,
made anniversary school murals and also promised to
plant a sapling. The children also pledged to do their
best in academics and promised to obey the school
rules and take proper care of the environment. Some
classes took a trip down memory lane by preparing a
photo collage. The glorious day was celebrated in a very
special way wishing glory to our school.
FOUNDATION DAY
23 to 25 August, 2021. The event kick started with a spectacular live inauguration on 23 August,
2021. Principal Ms. A. Aggarwal wished best of luck to all the participants of this inter-school event.
Events like Prayogshala, Vigyanshala, Anveshan, Ganit ki Bhasha, Vastukala Mein Ganit, etc.
inculcated the spirit of scientific enquiry and mental discipline in young minds. The wiz kids
sharpened their quizzical skills by participating in π rates, Insight and Masterminds. Young debaters
enthralled everyone with their power-packed performance on the very relevant topic ‘People are
the Gender, they prefer to be’. The participants were judged by a panel of eminent judges,
comprising of Dr. Parmod Sagar (Retired Professor, DU), Dr. G.S. Tuteja (Associate Professor, Zakir
Hussain College, DU), Dr. Kiran Arora (Assistant Professor, Kirori Mal College) and Dr.Sriparna
(Department of Chemistry, DU), Dr. Archana Nagpal (Chemistry Expert), Dr. Narinder Pal Singh,
(Chemistry Expert), Mr. Ranjith (Mathematics Expert from IIT Madras) and many more experts from
the field of Science and Mathematics. The event was a great success with E- Merit Certificates being

Quest 2021
The Investiture Ceremony for the academic session 2021-22 was an extended event in the wake of covid
pandemic. The first phase was held in school premises on 15 August,2021 where the Head boy, Head girl,
School Captains and House captains were conferred with their sashes and ties followed by a detailed
ceremony on a virtual platform on 16 August 2021 wherein the newly selected contingent of Discipline In-
charges were also conferred with their positions and official ties. The Oath taking Ceremony was led by the
Head Boy, Anagh Aditya(XII E) and Head Girl, Radhika Ahuja(XII E). Together they pledged to fulfill their
duties to the best of their abilities, upholding the school motto of loyalty, truth and honour in high esteem.
Principal, Ms. A. Aggarwal congratulated the members of the newly inducted members of the student
council and motivated them to remain committed towards their duties while emphasizing upon the values
of empathy, inclusiveness, right attitude and teamwork. She applauded them for their achievement. Vice
Principals, Ms. R. Anand and Ms. A. Gupta congratulated the newly selected members of the student council
and gave their best wishes for their future endeavors. Last year’s head boy and head girl, Arjun Katyal and
Aakriti Dadhich shared their experiences and expressed their gratitude to the school. It was a proud
moment for the students and their parents who witnessed their children embarking upon a new journey
of responsibility and leadership.
INVESTITURE CEREMONY
The outgoing batch was given a virtual Farewell and accorded Citations on 24th July. The formal
ceremony began with blessings from our Principal -Ms. A. Aggarwal, as she advised the students
to embrace every challenge with confidence and a smiling persona. In a beautifully curated
virtual programme, Class-11 students presented dances, songs and took their Seniors down the
memory lane. A few parents spoke on the occasion and lauded the efforts put in by the
Management and the teachers for the all round development of the students throughout their
school -going years and especially during the present pandemic. The ceremony concluded with
our principal awarding the citations to the outgoing batch and students thanking the institution
which had been their “Second Home” for the past 12 years.
CITATION CEREMONY
Well begun is half done
An ‘Orientation cum familiarisation Programme’ was organized for
the parents of students of Class Nursery who have become part of
SMS family this session, 2021-22. In her introductory note, Principal,
Ms. A. Aggarwal welcomed the parents to St.Mark’s and outlined the
vision and motto of the school. She shared the curriculum, teaching
methodologies and co-scholastic activities that their wards would
experience while at SMS. She emphasised on the vital role of
effective communication between teachers and parents for the
overall development of the children. Highlighting the old adage
that ‘Every Child is Unique’, she implored parents to nurture the
children with love and care to enable blooming of the best traits. The
Class teachers of Nursery were introduced by Vice Principal Ms. R.
Anand.
Concluding the proceedings, Vice Principal Ms. A. Gupta proposed
a vote of thanks and hence with sanguinity of a fresh, educative and
informative beginning, the programme came to an end with the
school song ‘Hail St Marks....’
A virtual orientation was also organised for the parents of Class KG on 8 April 2021 .Our Principal, Ms.
A. Aggarwal, gave an overview of the ethos and values of St. Mark's and gave useful parenting tips for
the current generation and inspired the parents. Vice Principal ,Ms R. Anand and Academic head ,Ms G.
Chandra welcomed the students and the parents to the SMS family. It was an engaging and interactive
session.
Webinar on Holistic Learning Environment
Our principal, Ms. A. Aggarwal, addressed educators from Asia and
Europe on the topic - “Understanding the Elements of a Holistic Learning
Environment: Teaching Practices and Tools”. The webinar, which was a
part of School Collaboration 2021 under the aegis of Asia Europe
Foundation, Singapore, had Ms. Aggarwal speak on various topics such as
the domains of holistic development as well as its need for the students.
She spoke about experiential learning to interdisciplinary learning
highlighting the importance of self guided learning as well as integrated
learning for the holistic development of students around the world. The
educators from both Asia and Europe were highly impressed by the buddy
system and the meditation sessions that Ms. Aggarwal practices in her
school.
Ms. A. Aggarwal, was one of the panelists for the session on ‘Learning in
Harmony for the Future’ by The Hindu, a leading national daily. This
session was held on 19 June, 2021 at The Education Excellence Conclave.
Ms. Aggarwal spoke about how and why harmony is imperative for a
person to be satisfied and happy. She discussed the best ways to create a
positive atmosphere and how harmony can be achieved both within the
family and workplace. She also discussed and gave suggestions on ways
of handling discord at our workplace and family. She stressed upon
having clear goals and an open communication between teachers,
students and parents. Ms. Aggarwal suggested that a focus on enhancing
problem solving and critical thinking skills can promote harmony.

International Conference for Young Scientists: Sukhman ICYS WINNERS
Singh(VIII B) and Pradyuman Sapra(VIII A) won the Bronze PRIZE WINNERS -ICYSS
Medal at the International Conference for Young Scientists held
virtually by the Centre for Talented Youth, Belgrade, Serbia. The
two boys, who were also the youngest participants, presented
their research paper on 'Being Vegan' ICYS 2021 saw 142
participants from 22 countries competing in the fields of
Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Environmental
Science & Life Sciences.
International Conference for Young Social Scientists
Team India, consisting of 4 students, did extremely well at the
International Conference for Young Social Scientists organised
by Centre of Talented Youth,Belgrade, Serbia. Ishita Goel(XII
F) won the Gold Award for her research on Comprehending
the Practice of Khafd within the Dawoodi Bohra
Community.The other students who participated won the
Special Award for Excellent Research -Deveshi Sanmotra(XII
A)– Abortion, Purav Garg(XII C) - Impact of Digital Marketing
and Prabhshabad Sahni(XI A)- Violation of Human Rights.
Team India also bagged the first prize for its cultural
performance!

ECOSOC: Yash Khanwani & Vidhi Khurana Class 10, Sahej YOUTH FORUM IN PROGRESS
Bhatia, Aashita Sethi, Ishita Goel, Prithika Ghosh and Tanishka
Chopra, Class 11 were invited from more than 10,000
applicants from all over the globe to participate in the
Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Youth Forum that was
held virtually on the 7th and 8th of April 2021. ECOSOC brings
the youth together to promote collective action for a
sustainable world. The students attended special sessions
such as - Achieving The SDGs With And For Youth, A Common
Agenda for Young Leaders: An Intergenerational Dialogue,
Youth as Researchers: Knowledge Developed by youth, with
Youth, and for Youth. The various ECOSOC meetings
highlighted that the response to COVID-19 needs to be guided
by international solidarity and cooperation with the objective
to put the world back on track to realize the 2030 Agenda of
the United Nations.
Beginning of a new collaboration: Inspite of the pandemic and Mr. Christian with our Principal,
Ms. A. Aggarwal and Director,
travelling restrictions, we had a surprise visitor from Croatia. Mr. Mr. Rahul Aggarwal
Christian, who came as a representative of Elementary School Ksaver
Sandor Gjalski, Sv.Ivan Zelina, Croatia, not only brought beautiful
warm letters from the Croatian students but also took a few art work
of our students as a souvenir.

'Remembering Shakespeare'- International Virtual Quiz:
We organised a virtual quiz - 'Remembering Shakespeare' that had 29
participants from 7 countries (Croatia, India, Pakistan, Philippines,
Russia, Singapore and Slovenia ).The quiz was played in two rounds,
the first being the prelims from where top eight scorers were selected
to compete in the final multimedia round. The Gold award went to
Phung Ba Long, Boon Lay Secondary School, Singapore, Silver award to
Hetal Gagneja(XII C) from our school and the Bronze award to Zoja
Munda from Gimnazija Ptuj,Slovenia. Muneeba Islam from Sultan
Mahomed Shah Aga Khan Secondary School Karimabad, Karachi
received a Special Mention while the Audience Award was won by
Margarita Kondratenko from Zhukovsky English School,
Moscow,Russia.
Poetry Beyond Borders : We organised Poetry Beyond
Borders; in love with verses, an event to instil love for poetry in
students. Our Principal, Ms. A. Aggarwal, was the Keynote
Speaker for the event which had 27 participants from five
countries - Bangladesh, Egypt, India , Malaysia and Taiwan. The
students recited poems in English but the highlight was the
recitation in Bangla, Arabic, Hindi, Malay and Taiwanese as
students recited in their national language too.

Virtual food carnival: We organised a virtual food carnival - Spice it Up
with our partner schools from USA & Russia. The virtual event saw the
presence of Mr. Andrew Ezzel, President, Give Something Back
International, Ms. Elena Dmirievna Grankina, Principal, Gymnasium No.
32,Russia, Ms.Jessica McDonough, Assistant Principal, Toano Middle
School, USA with our Principal, Ms.A. Aggarwal. From hotdogs to Rajma
Chawal, Dumplings to Idli Sambhar, Caesar salad to Okróshka to Lassi,
students of the three schools not only showcased the dishes but also
taught each other the way they are made.
SDG Dialogue Series: Eighteen students of our school enrolled themselves for a special course on SDG
Dialogue Series to learn about the Sustainable Development Goals set up by the United Nations. The
students, who attended the orientation programme, could choose one or more from the four SDGs (Goals 1,
10, 13 and 16 ) offered by Generation Global, the Tony Blair Institute’s global citizenship programme for
young people aged 13-17 years that enables them to embrace the future, equipped with the knowledge ,
skills , and attitudes to become active and open – minded global citizens.
Video Conference with Kogaya Elementary school: Students of class VI took part in a video conference with
students of Kogaya Elementary school, Japan. The students got an opportunity to make new friends from
another part of the globe. To lighten the mood, students of Kogaya Elementary school presented a dance
performance followed by a presentation by grade VI and VII students. Our students, Kriday Sharma, Harshil
Kapoor and Avni Sharma, sang songs to cheer everyone. Students had an enriching experience as they got to
learn about Japanese culture and share their experience about the pandemic. The meet concluded with
students and teachers wishing good health for everyone.

Interaction with students of Mt. St. Michael's College in Brisbane
A few students of grade VI had a superb experience interacting with their fellow counterparts and friends
from Mt St Michael's College in Brisbane, Australia. Ms Juliette Bentley along with her students interacted
with our students and one can only say that this is just the beginning of a budding and a strong friendship.
Students spoke to each other about various topics like the climate and the food, festivals and other
customs. They had a blast.
Natural Disaster Youth Summit:14 students participated in the Natural Disaster Youth Summit organised by
iEARN Japan. The other participating countries were Indonesia, Ukraine, Columbia , Malaysia , Taiwan ,
Georgia and the host country Japan. The students, as NDYS Ambassadors, explained the importance of

SMS " HAUTE COUTURE"
Our school organised an online event SMS " HAUTE COUTURE" on 17 June 2021 , wherein students
showcased the folk costumes of some of the states of India. Ms.Cornelia Platon, iEarn Coordinator for
Romania ; the principal of Alexandru Papiu Ilarian High School, Romania - Ms. Dorina German; Ms. Eriko
Katsumata from Aoyama Gakuin University, Tokyo joined the event along with their students. Also present
was Dr. Sunita Bhagwat, iEarn Coordinator for India. The event began with the dance performance of Ms.
Suhani Anand, a trained Bharatnatyam dancer followed by the presentation of the folk costumes of a few
states like Himachal Pradesh, Goa, Nagaland, Gujarat, Rajasthan etc. The children of our school showcased
the attire of each state elegantly and spoke a few lines about their costumes.. Overall, it was a visual treat .

Virtual Cultural Show
At a time when it is needed the most, our students presented a virtual cultural show "Peace and Positivity-
the ultimate key to happiness” for guests from the United States of America. Ms.Lisa Casparriello, Mill
Pond School, Massachusetts, Ms Laura Wheeler Nietzer, MY HERO Education Outreach Director and Ms.
Katherine Josten, Founder/Director of Global Art Project for Peace were the special guests for the event.
The students of Mill Pond School also joined the show. Keeping up with the theme of Peace and Positivity,
our students presented music and dance performances. The melodious songs sung with passion, love and
confidence by our students were appreciated by everyone present in the audience. The event also had two
classical dance performances leaving the audience awestruck. Ms.A. Aggarwal asserted, "The world,
certainly, needs peace and positivity for only that will help us all to live in happiness."
Coronavirus Community Heroes Multimedia Contest -- Spring 2021
Kush Huria(VII E) and Kriday Sharma(VII A) won an award at the Coronavirus Community Heroes Multimedia
Contest -- Spring 2021.Kush won the award in the Poetry Category for his poem ‘Young Changemaker Ankit
Agarwal , while Kriday won the award in the Essay Category wherein he wrote on the cycle girl of India –
Jyoti Kumari Paswan. Amey Aggarwal(VII )and Saksham Mehn(VII B) of the same class were the other two
finalists in the Poetry and Essay Categories respectively.
International HOTS Olympiad
The International HOTS Olympiad is the most comprehensive in its field, to foster ‘Higher Order Thinking
Skills’ in core aptitude section for young students. WizKlub Pvt. Ltd. organized the final round of HOTS
Olympiad – Season 1. 11 students from grades 6 to 8, successfully qualified for this conclusive round after
battling a fierce competition at global level. All our participants came out with flying colours, securing for
themselves ,scholarships worth Rs. 2000 and above. Aashvi Ahlawat and Pratyush Goel managed to earn the
‘Outstanding performer’ title in Class 8 and Class 6 categories respectively.

A group of 12 students from Grade 6 created a dictionary which has the local translations of commonly used
English words and phrases. The countries that collaborated in this project were - Australia, Bulgaria, Greece,

Calligraphy Art.
Students of classes 7 to 10 attended a session on Japanese Calligraphy Art. Mrs. Tomiko Kimura and Mrs.
Hiromi Kawamura, two retired teachers from Tokyo, Japan conducted the session where they taught the
students the nuances of the art. The session was also attended by students and staff from Al Fikri Islamic
School, Indonesia as well as a few international educators.
International Online Painting Competition: Amitoj Kaur (XH)
participated in two separate events and bagged prizes in both. In the
International Online Painting Competition-2021 organised by Lions Club
Gurugram Cyber City, she made a doodle representing the culture of
India within the National emblem of India. She won the Silver Star (2nd
Position) along with a certificate and a gift hamper. In “Pan-India
Cartoon Painting Competition" organised by Eventzcraft, Lush Eventia
and dream team , Amitoj won the Third Position and received a
certificate and a gift hamper.
GVC
On May 4, 2021 the Give Something Back International Foundation (GSBI) announced winners of Global
Virtual Classroom Contest (GVC) --- a free online collaborative learning project that fosters creativity, cross
cultural understanding, while learning website designing skills. It was a double bonanza for our school as
we won the Grand Award in the Primary School Division for our collaborative website Food - the essence
of life.
We, along with our partner schools Toano Middle School, USA and Gymnasium No.32, Russia worked on
food issues that included balanced diet, organic farming, food waste, food safety etc. A virtual food
carnival wherein the students of the three schools showcased their traditional dishes was also organised.
The three schools have been appreciated for extraordinary collaboration and impressive teamwork.
In the secondary school division, we received the Second Prize for our website - Human Struggles. Our
students along with their peer from Navodaya Vidyalaya,Jhajhhar explored outbreaks of infectious
diseases and world wide epidemics through history including the current COVID 19 pandemic.The
students have even offered much needed perspectives on the lessons learned and what we can do to
help each other.
Plato has rightly said, “Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind ,flight to the
imagination and life to everything.”
Keeping this in mind, a virtual Inter Class Solo Singing Competition was organized for the
students of Classes KG, I, II and V. The children participated with full zeal and enthusiasm and
enthralled the judges as well as the audience with their melodious voices. They sang a variety of
songs from various genres. All our young maestros who took part in the competition were
appreciated and applauded by one and all.

An Inter-Class Rhyme Recitation competition was organized on
29th July 2021 for students of Class Nursery. The little ones
participated enthusiastically as they got an opportunity to exhibit
their talent and confidence. The students came up with different
rhymes and recited them with great fondness and zeal. It was a
treat to watch their expressions, thoughts, emotions and rhythm.

Robert Frost has stated, ‘ Poetry is when an emotion has found
its thought and the thought has found words.’ Poetry is a form of
expressing one’s ideas, feelings and emotions. It can have a
positive impact on the social and emotional learning of children.
To build confidence and to create an appreciation for poetry
among children, an Inter- Class English Recitation Competition
was held for the students of Class III, on 19 July, 2021. The
theme of the Competition was 'Animals'. The students recited
poems like, Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf, The Tiger and
the Zebra, The Porcupine, The Three Little Pigs and many more
interesting ones. Their confidence, expressions and enthusiasm

An online Inter Class Character Dramatization competition was organised for students of Class IV and V.
Students of Class IV enacted different characters from History like Dr. Kalam, Swami Vivekananda, Joan of
Arc to name a few. They were judged on the basis of presentation, expression, confidence, authenticity
and clarity. All the participants were in costumes and dramatized their character with enthusiasm. The

2021 organised by N.K. Bagrodia Public School, Dwarka.
Students of classes I - III took part in online literary
competitions like Actomania, Enigmatic Duo - One Coin Two
Faces, Design-O-Matics, held on 18 September 2021. These
competitions honed the intrinsic and pedagogical abilities in
the students and manifested their learning outcomes, inherent
talents, and diverse faculties. Aarna Bagga(III E) won the
Second Prize in the event, If I had a Time Machine, and Aarush
Gupta (III G) bagged the Third Position in Design-O-Matics.
The Commerce Society of G D Goenka Public School Model
Town and Delhi Public School, Dwarka organized “Commerce
Fest 2.0” on 11th and 12th and 14th August 2021.The event
involved enthusiastic participation of students from all over
India and abroad. The aim of this event was to build self
confidence and imbibe a proactive approach towards life
consequently enhancing the communication skills, developing
a fine personality and a sanguine attitude. 8 students
participated in various events Vibhor(XIIC) and Harji Singh
Anand(XIID) qualified till the final round of Subject to Market
Risk. Navya Sharma (XA) and Soumil Kapoor (XA) won the
competition of Cred Conundrum.

EXUBERANCE 2021: Exuberance 2021- an Inter School fest for the students extending from Pre-School to
12th was held in the month of July. The event gave space to students to celebrate their ingenious talents
and rev up the energy meter of co-curricular learning. The event was organised by Lancer’s Convent,
Paschim Vihar. Activities like “THE WORLD OF FAIRY TALES”, “AD-MAD SHOW”, “PROVERBIAL STORY”, etc
were organised for the juniors and for the seniors SELENOPHILE”, “APARICHIT KALPANAAYEIN - THE MIME
ACT”, “INWARD LENS TO OUR THOUGHTS”, etc. were held. Overall, it was a great learning experience.

CODINGAL "CODE-BREAKERS“: Paarth Bathla (IX-C) won the Second Paarth Bathla (IX-C)
Position in Codingal "Code-Breakers" , a Coding Hackathon held all over Vedant Dutt(XI F)
India by Ed-Tech startup Codingal, in Collaboration with The Times of
India. Students were asked to build Code Based Games, Mobile
Applications and Websites to solve Real World Problems such as
Climate Change, Healthcare. Paarth Bathla, tried and tackled the Issue
of Health and Medicare industry by building a scalable web application
which provides free medicines to rural regions and contains donation
options through which donators can pay through liquidable Crypto-
Currency directly to NGOs, eliminating the Middle Men completely and
normalizing the latent crypto-trend.
ENTAB-LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION!: A live online interschool
competition- Lights, Camera, Action was organised by Entab campus
care on 15 June 2021 via Youtube channel. Participants from 28
schools across the country showcased their talent by presenting a
monologue or a solo act from a movie or a play. Vedant Dutt(XI F)
played the part of Mark Antony from the famous Shakespearean
Tragedy , ‘Julius Caesar’ and bagged the First Prize. It was a great
platform given to the students to hone their skills of acting.

SPECTRUM 2021: To be a part of the celebration of Pi
Approximation Day, our school students from classes 5 to
12 participated in an INTER-SCHOOL VIRTUAL PI FEST –
SPECTRUM organized by Bosco Public School. Class 5
students participated in Pi jingle and Pi craft. The middle
school students participated in events such as making a Pi
journal, recital of the value of Pi and Pi vogue where the
participant had to dress up on the theme of Pi. Class 10
and 12 students participated in Maths Olympiad related
to Pi. All the children performed well. The results were
announced on the Pi Approximation Day i.e. 22.07.2021.

Reflections International 2021 Bhumi Sinha(XI H)
Our school participated in Reflections International 2021 organised
by City Montessori School, Lucknow. The debate competition
'Envision' was one of the events in which more than 50 schools
participated and Bhumi Sinha(XI H) represented our school in this
event and won the Second Prize. She spoke on the pros and cons of
internet and the use of technology in the real world.

INDIA SPELLING BEE: Jasnoor Kaur Khurana of class-4 has
emerged as the 2nd RUNNER-UP ( Group 2 ) in the “NORTHERN
REGION” at the REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP at the INDIA
SPELLING BEE Regional finale that was held in the online mode
this year, due to the pandemic and lockdown. She qualified at
the Spelling Bee contest held at the school level and emerged as
the SECOND RUNNER-UP in the NORTHERN REGION at the
Spelling Bee Regional Level Contest. The Regional Level contest
saw an engrossing and keen contest among the winners of all the
schools in the Northern region.

UNNAT 2021
Our students participated in 'Unnat 2021', a series of online inter-school events from August 20 - 24, 2021,
organised by Indraprastha World School, Paschim Vihar. The aim of the events was to expose the students
to the new technological innovations, chisel their creativity, and widen their knowledge in the academic
domain, apart from instilling in them a healthy competitive spirit.
Rinaira Arora(II A) ,participated in Stand-up comedy in Hindi Language in
which she played a role of a lazy police officer who wanted to do good for
others but fell in trouble. It was a hilarious act of 3 minutes for which
Rinaira won the Third Prize. Mannat Sachdeva and Kriday Sharma of class
VII won the First position in Annals and Antiquities of Medieval India in
which they made a 3 min Vlog on ‘Rani ki Vav’ a stepwell situated in the
town of Patan, Gujarat which is one of the finest and largest example of
step well architecture in Gujarat and has been listed as one of the
UNESCO's World Heritage Sites since 2014. Mehak Sharma and Khushboo Rinaira Arora(II A)
of XII E participated in Unnat-Chemistry In Everyday Life, in which the girls
prepared a short video to highlight the importance and role of chemistry in
everyday life. The project elaborated the role of immunity boosters and
medicines in fighting infectious diseases.
WAR OF WORDS: St. Thomas School, Dwarka organised an online Inter School Debate Competition, WAR OF
WORDS. Our young debators from classes IV and V expressed their views on the topic HOME SCHOOLING IS
BETTER THAN LEARNING AT SCHOOL. Our school was adjudged the Best Team with Samit Bansal(V E)
bagging the First Prize and Eva Chadha(IV B) bagging the Second Prize.

School Commerce Competition, on 24th & 25th July 2021. Around 20 students of our school participated

Crypteco and Brainfi: The Surprise Event. Revtesh Sharma(XII C) from Property Expo won the competition
with flying colours.
'Unlocking the Locked Talent‘: Our school students participated in the competition named 'Unlocking the
Locked Talent' organised by Bal Bharti Public School, Dwarka in September. Out of all the given categories,
our students participated in the categories:- Dance Competition, Manipulative Maths, Fusion Yoga, Doodle
Art. Delisha Popli (IV F) bagged the First Position in the Dance Competition named 'Aao Twist Kare' wherein

Poetry Appreciation Workshop
The poet Robert Frost once said that a poem “begins in delight and ends in wisdom.” Reading poems for
pleasure and experiencing poems by reading, watching, and listening can help one connect with them.
Students of Classes VI got a similar opportunity when they attended the two day ‘Poetry Appreciation
Workshop’ on 17 and 18 May 2021, wherein our Principal, Ms. A. Aggarwal, who appreciates art, music
and poetry, helped the students understand the different forms of poetry. She read and discussed a few
poems by some renowned American, British and Indian poets. The students on the last day recited poems
which were either written by some well known poets or were self-composed. It was, certainly, an enriching
experience for the students who realized their new found love for poetry.
Change makers Conclave
In our endeavour to provide a wide variety of learning
opportunities and leadership skills to our students, we initiated
‘Change Makers Conclave’ wherein notable Indians from different
walks of life shared their experiences with students. As a part of
these sessions, students of classes 11 & 12 attended an interaction
with Mr.Riyaaz Amlani, CEO & MD, Impresario Handmade
Restaurants, on May 17th.Mr. Amlani is an entrepreneur and
restaurateur and has established 58 restaurants across 16 cities in
India. During an hour-long session, he shared his journey of over
two decades in hospitality industry highlighting his struggles as well
as achievements along the way. He advised the students to
transform the present time of adversity into an opportunity and
spoke about specialized careers like Food photography, Service
Technology, Plate designers who work in collaboration with chefs,
Digital Marketing, and Digital Brand building along with
conventional careers like Hotel Management.
In yet another endeavour to provide meaningful beyond-the-classroom
learning opportunities for our students, a workshop on Photography
for the students of IX and X was organised. The resource person Mr.
Yasser Alaa Mobarak, an Egyptian award-winning photographer, has
won photography prizes from National Geographic Traveler India,
National Geographic Egypt, International Federation of Photographic
Art, Photographic Society of America and Prix De La Photographie
Paris.
A Rendezvous with Ms. Garvita Gulhati: Kriday Sharma, Mannat Sachdeva and Amey Aggarwal organised an
interactive session with Ms. Garvita Gulhati, Founder of Why Waste. The event, with around 65 students as
participants, had the students asking interesting questions from Ms. Garvita. The students were thoroughly
inspired by the young changemaker. The student organisers made a video that highlighted Ms. Garvita's
journey as a young global changemaker and also wrote a poem on her work. Ms. Garvita Gulhati
complimented the young students for their efforts and said that they had taken the first step as
changemakers with this initiative.
Interaction with a Nutritionist: Our school organised an interactive session with Ms. Poonam Duneja , a
renowned nutritionist . The session was also attended by the teacher coordinators and the students from
our partner schools Toano Middle School, USA and Gymnasium No 32, Russia. Ms. Duneja talked about the
importance of a balanced diet and the diet plan that adolescents should follow. She briefed the students
about the components of a healthy diet and also acquainted the students about the dos and don'ts while
choosing a diet. It was followed by an interactive session wherein the students asked various questions
related to food and nutrition.
Parent Volunteered Session: From 10 to 12 May, Parents volunteered to conduct several interesting
sessions, including sketching, yoga, story narration, Vedic math, art & craft, Zumba, quiz, and many more.
Students enjoyed these sessions and learned various things in a new format where their own or peers’
family members were interactively working with them. There was much enthusiasm and excitement
amongst the facilitating parents, students and teachers who were a part of this event.
INTERACTIVE SESSIONS
Interaction with Former Miss India
Beauty lies in the eye of the beholder but it definitely needs grooming. We organized an interactive session
with Ms. Meher Castellino, Miss India 1964 wherein she interacted with 20 girls of class 11 and 12. She gave
individual tips on personal grooming to the students. In the second session Ms. Castellino gave important
tips about the elements of design in the use of garments to hide the figure flaws. The session was very
informative and interesting and was enjoyed thoroughly by the students.
SESSION WITH FORMER MISS INDIA MS. MEHER CASTELLINO
Rashtryia Poshan Maah: It is rightly said-"Consuming a healthy diet helps to prevent malnutrition in all its
form." Today in 2021, India is not just fighting COVID-19 outbreak but is also battling existing malnutrition in
the country among the underprivileged sections of society. As a part of celebration of Poshan Maah the
students of primary wing prepared a nutritious meal and shared it with children from the weaker sections
of the society living in their neighbourhood. This activity enabled our students to learn the benefits of
nutritious diet as well as ethos of volunteerism.
INTERACTIVE SESSIONS
Career Guidance Workshop by our Alumni
A weekend career guidance workshop was organised on the 27th and
28th of August 2021. The workshop, organized by St. Mark's , attended by
St. Markians and facilitated by ex-St. Markians, was indeed
memorable. Our Alumni Dr. Rohit Batra (MD, consultant dermatologist
and lazer surgeon), Lt. Col. Ankur Sabharwal (Lieutenant Colonel and
trains officers for armed forces), Ms. Pallavi Mehta (Lawyer and now a
screenwriter of some of the famous TV shows - Kulfi Kumar Bajewala,
Hero and Choti Sardarni ) and Ms. Nimrit Kaur Ahluwalia (Lawyer and
now an actor in the popular TV show- Choti Sardarni) came to this
common platform to guide our students, make them aware of various
aspects of their respective professions, how to prepare for them as well
as help them identify their areas of interest. It was a weekend full of
nostalgia and great learning!
PARENTAL WORKSHOPS: Interactive workshops for parents was organised to provide
a comprehensive compilation of best parenting practices across different age groups
and develop an insight into the ways of teaching and guiding children through
different challenges. While in the junior wing concerns related to childhood
tantrums, following instructions, sibling rivalry, and behaviour management
were discussed, the workshops in the senior wing centered on providing
information to parents on characteristics of adolescent years, psychosocial
issues, strategies to develop a healthy relationship with the adolescent. Parents
were also introduced to a term “watchful freedom” to practice in an ever changing digital world.
Catering to the emotional challenges faced due to the pandemic situation, an experiential
workshop was also conducted for students as well as their parents to develop emotional awareness and
empower them to regulate their emotions as a team for holistic wellbeing.
