According to the American Civil Liberties Union of Northern California, "For more than two
decades, the Maximum Family Grant (MFG) Rule denied basic assistance to any child born into a

family already receiving CalWORKs assistance. By withholding aid, California drove families
deeper into poverty and is endangering the well-being of approximately 130,000 of the state's

most vulnerable children."

Fellow Falcons,

As we embark into 2017, there are many transitions - educationally, politically, and (I am
sure) personally - on the horizon. Please find comfort in our commitment to you and
your place here at Folsom Lake College. With three campuses, Folsom Lake College is
unique within the Los Rios Community College District and it is our uniqueness that we
should value. EOPS is founded on the core values of equity, inclusion and opportunity.

In collaboration with CalWORKs, DSPS, and FSP, all of us in the Center for Excellence
family want to leave no doubt in your mind that our doors are always open for you. Each
of us should feel valued, respected and safe here.

All the EOPS/CARE, CalWORKs, DSPS, and FSP staff hope that you and your family have
a relaxing, yet fun-filled break! Don’t forget to check in with us before the beginning of
the Spring 2017 semester.

Happy Holidays!

Libby Cook. EOPS/CARE Coordinator
