MAHOPAC 2000 E HOCKEY

INDIANS IC

Welcome to the Mahopac Hockey Journal for the 2020-2021 season, a season unlike
any other due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Fortunately, Varsity was able to safely play a shortened regular season that started three
months later than usual, but certainly better than no season at all. We were glad the
seniors were able to have their “night” and play in their final high school season. Thanks
to Coaches Donaghy and McGee who went beyond their usual efforts in preparing for the
season and keeping it safe for all in finishing out the season without issue. The players
are to be commended for their part as well.

Unfortunately, Modified could not return to play. We look forward to seeing Coach Wood-
row and our future varsity players back on the ice (and back in the Journal) next season.

Another unfortunate impact of the pandemic was our inability to hold typical events like
the car wash, bake sale, Hockey Fights Cancer night, etc. Aside from the obvious effects
on our fundraising efforts, it also deprived the team from important bonding experienc-
es. Hopefully things will return to near normal next season, so we can once again hold
these important events and have fans back at the games.

Parents, we look forward to your continued support of Mahopac Hockey Association
Pac Hockey. Volunteering is critical to our program’s Board Members
success in continuing our mission of making this
program a fun and rewarding experience for current Craig Bricker, President
and future student-athletes. Tom Stiller, Vice President

Coach Tim Donaghy

To The Mahopac Hockey Family,

Thank you to all who made this season possible. Let’s remember that in the middle of January we thought a
season was not possible. Then in a blink of an eye we were told time to start the season. Then to start the season
we were given a bunch of hoops to jump through to get everyone eligible to play which all the players and their
families did. Then we were given a schedule of 6 league games which grew and shrunk day by day as teams had
to quarantine. In the end we got 9 games in. Just as impressive is that we made it through the season without a
quarantine. That says alot about the character of our players.

On the ice the players took on all the obstacles that were thrown at them and excelled. We worked hard and won
the League title. My first as Mahopac coach a big thank you to the players. We had lots of players step up their
play and contribute and shine. This group is the first to go through the program as freshman to seniors under
Coach McGee and myself. We have always asked the players to leave the program better than when they arrived.
This group has exceeded our expectations.

I would like to wish all of my seniors the best of luck in their future endeavors. This group of seniors will be
greatly missed. It is always tough when 9 players move on after a season. But with this group’s leadership we
have players ready to fill these many and big shoes. As for the returning players, let’s mirror the dedication and
focus of this year and next season we can hopefully obtain greater success because we will have less obstacles to
overcome. We know that there will be holes left by the seniors and I am counting on some of you to fill these. I am
confident that you will work hard in the off season and be ready to grow into these new roles.

Thank you to the Mahopac Hockey Association for supporting Coach McGee and myself.
Most of all, thank you for supporting the hockey players. This season many of the
great fundraising activities were not possible such as Hockey Fights Cancer Night,
the Alumni Game, Chuck a Puck, Car Wash, and the Bake Sale. We know that
everyone will work hard to bring these back to help support the program. We are
all very appreciative of your sacrifices and we know organizing these events is no
easy task.

Finally, I would like to mention what a pleasure it has been working with
Coach McGee. We have built a friendship over the last four years that
helps contribute to a positive team atmosphere and look to continue
this relationship far into the future. I know we are both so pleased
with the growth we have seen in our players and look forward to
continuing to build the Mahopac hockey program.

Coach Shaun McGee

To The Mahopac Hockey Family,

After completing my fifth season with the varsity program, I am once again honored to
be involved with such a great organization. While our season was certainly not what we
expected, I have a greater appreciation of the things we get to do. We entered the fall
and early winter not knowing what to expect in terms of a season. It was amazing to see
our player’s sense of gratitude towards just being on the ice together again. It was all
they really cared about. I enjoyed watching our players grow as individuals and as a team
through this abbreviated season. A league championship was a fitting end to the season
and the careers of our 10 seniors. As it is our goal each year, we will continue to work
tirelessly towards bringing a Section One title to the Pac.

I would like to thank our head coach Tim Donaghy for all of the time and passion he has
dedicated to the team all season long. I am extremely confident when I say that Mahopac
Hockey is in a great place moving forward with Coach Donaghy behind the bench. He has
established a culture of hard work and respect for the game that is evident in the teams
he has coached. I would like to thank the Mahopac Hockey Association for all of their
continued support. We have a dedicated group of parents that worked diligently through-
out an unprecedented season on events like Senior Night, as well as multiple fundraising
events throughout the year. Our student athletes would not have the experience they do
playing high school hockey if it were not for you.

Lastly, I would like to thank the players that made this season unforgettable. We, as
coaches, appreciate all of your hard work and dedication to the program. I’d like
to wish the seniors the best of luck in their future endeavors. Thank you Richie,
Ryan, Chris, Michael, AJ, Sean, Jake, Nick, John and Shane for leaving the
program better than you found it. We hope to see you at Brewster Ice Arena
next season and in seasons to come cheering on your alma mater.
