Lizbeth Arzate is a 4th grade student at Arp Elementary. Her favorite color is blue. Her biggest role model is her brothers. Her favorite subject is math, and her favorite animal is a narwhal. Congratulations Lizbeth! Mrs. Brittany Sieber is a teacher aid at Arp Elementary. She enjoys her job, because she gets to help students daily, and loves to see this kids’ faces light up. Her biggest role model is her mom, and her favorite color is pink! Gavin Davidson is a 4th grade student at Arp Elementary. His favorite color is blue. His biggest role model is his dad. jr. high spotlights sometimes many students view teachers as just educators. but some of them have many hidden talents like coach max prior. He has decided to make a music career as a robotics teacher and a coach at the same time. Like wow! Coach prior knew he wanted to be a music creator since he was young. He has just recently got the opportunity from his best friend to be able to record his first album. Coach prior took on a big task. but he is making it work and making people happy with his voice. He said that he should have a new album out by summer 2024. best of luck Coach Prior! 7 Jr. high fun


14 Jr. High staff and students of the month 6TH GRADE STUDENT OF THE MONTH IS AUSTIN WRIGHT. HE HAS BEEN ATTENDING ARP SINCE KINDERGARTEN. HIS BIGGEST INSPIRATION IS HIS DAD BECAUSE HE GOT A JOB AND STUCK WITH IT. HE WANTS TO GO TO COLLEGE AFTER HIGH SCHOOL AND BE A THERAPIST. HIS FAVORITE SUBJECT IN SCHOOL IS SCIENCE. 7TH GRADE STUDENT OF THE MONTH IS EMMA SCHOHN. THIS IS HER FIRST YEAR AT ARP. HER BIGGEST INSPIRATION IS HER PARENTS BECAUSE THEY TAKE CARE OF HER. AFTER HIGH SCHOOL, SHE WANTS TO BECOME A BLOOD WORK DOCTOR. HER FAVORITE SUBJECT IS MATH BECAUSE IT IS EASIEST FOR HER TO LEARN. 8TH GRADE STUDENT OF THE MONTH IS COLTON STINCIPHER. HE HAS BEEN ATTENDING ARP SINCE 6TH GRADE. HIS BIGGEST INSPIRATION IS HIS COUSIN TYLER BECAUSE HE IS FUNNY. HE WANTS TO GO TO THE NFL AFTER HIGH SCHOOL. KTBB Teacher of the Month Nancy Spain Ethics Bowls Results High School Accomplishments These four ladies competed in the National High School Ethics Bowl held at UT Tyler on Saturday, November 11th. The event is sponsored by The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and boasts some very difficult conversations with varying cases involving the ideas of morality and ethics . Callie Brown (9) Meagan Spears(10) Lacy Fletcher(10) Emma Hammerbacher(10) This is Mrs. Spain’s 14th year teaching. She was presented with the KTBB teacher of the month award. She is teaching English 2 and 3, and she is also the one-act play sponsor and gifted/talented sponsor. She has a bachelor of science in English from Abilene Christian University, and her master of science is from Western Governors University. Why does she teach you ask. She teaches because she enjoys what she does, and is blessed to be a part of many lives each day. 11


High School Students/Staff of the Month High School Students/Staff of the Month Julian Barocio is the junior student of the month! Julian's favorite subject is forensics because the murder scenes are interesting to him. One thing he does well as a student is listening in the classroom. He feels like he works better with others in school so that he can interact with them and get their opinions. Cielo Montiel is our senior of the month! Her favorite subject is math because she likes to solve problems, and understand why we solve them. One thing Cielo does great as a student is consistency because she doesn’t give up. She tries again, and even harder. What she likes the most about school is how everybody is so nice and wants you try your best. Mrs. Deards is the teacher of the month! She teaches Spanish one and two. She has been teaching for 22 years. She got her bachelors at San Diego State University, and her masters at UC San Barbara. She went to college to receive all her degrees in 7 1/2 years. Mrs. Deards has taught before at other schools, all levels of Spanish, and also AP physiology. Maggie Eaton is the sophomore of the month! Her favorite subject is agriculture because she enjoys the teachers, and the classes. One thing she does best as a student is that she has amazing handwriting for good notes. Maggie believes she can improve as a student by paying more attention. McKenzie Miller is the freshman student of the month! McKenzie’s favorite subject is art because she loves being very artistic. McKenzie’s top two favorite things about coming to school is that she gets to go to math and art. McKenzie feels like she needs to work as a group because you are able to get more input on the subject you are talking about. 12


Hard work continues to pay off at Arp High School. Digital media and yearbook advisor, Mrs. Le ’Kisha Stinecipher recently was inducted into the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. Along with being the first in her family to enroll in college, Mrs. Stinecipher will continue to get her bachelor ’ s degree in Business Management to fulfill a career asa BIM teacher. Also being inducted into the National Society of Collegiate Scholars was Mrs. Christal Garrett. Arp in the Playoffs With Arp’s win over DeKalb in the first round of the UIL playoffs they advanced to face Harmony in the second round of the playoffs at Hallsville High School. Score of Arp vs. DeKalb: 39-36 The game against Harmony was played at Hallsville ISD’s Bobcat Stadium on Nov. 17 closing the 2023 season. Check out the interview of Ty Bardsley and others! 15


Your 8th Grade Tiger football team went undefeated this season and sweept district play! With the undefeated season, the 8th Grade team was treated to getting the opportunity to give their coach Max Prior a mohawk! Bryce Everett 16


Head coach Joel Avance is returning for his second year as head coach of the girls basketball program. “Our team will be very young but full of talent. We will be looking to continue building on our culture, and confidence after a very positive season last year,” Coach Avance said when asked about his outlook on the upcoming season. This season your Arp Lady Tigers will be playing in the American Airlines Center. “Sports isn't just about hard work and competition. It's also about creating memories that stay with you for the rest of your life. My desire is that this will be one of those moments. Not only do they get to play in an NBA stadium, they will also get to stay after and watch the Mavs play the Pelicans that evening on the same floor. Very exciting time in Arp America!” Commented Coach Avance when asked about his opinion on the exciting matchup being played in the home of the Dallas Mavericks. VETERANS Thank you Johnny Holcomb US Coast Guard 1967-1971 Fun Fact: Mr. Holcomb missed going to Vietnam by 30 minutes. Mr. Holcomb was on a navy vessel, and at 0800 hours he was moved to a adjacent ship. Then at 0830 hours, the ship he had just left was sent to Vietnam. Veterans Day Program On November 10th, Arp High School held their annual Veterans Day program. This event gives recognition to all the living and deceased Veterans in the Arp Area. Mr. Mcollum’s Speech During the program guest speaker J.B. McCollum gave an uplifting speech. His speech covered discipline and how important it is to not only dream about your goals, but make them a reality. Chadster Ellis 24


Sir Turkmen and his Madam Born in 1777 after the American Revolution, he was beside George Washington in the midst of commanding the American militia. He later married Natalie Turkham. The first Thanksgiving took place in 1621 between early settlers called Puritans, and Native Americans, who enjoyed early peaceful relations and shared in a harvest feast together. The Native Americans helped teach the Puritans how to hunt and grow crops.
