Employee Spotlight

Our Featured Employee of the Month is Mr. Randal Wilson.
Mr. Wilson has been working for Arp ISD for 22 years. He
graduated from AHS in 1986. Mr. Wilson has eight kids, most of
whom attended Arp schools as well. Mr. Wilson used to be a
welder and then he came to work at Arp to spend more time with
his kids. He likes to watch automotive restoration shows and in
his free time he likes to fish. If he could have any super power in the world, he would
want to be able to read peoples mind in advance. His advice to students is that
education is very important.

Thank you Mr. Wilson for all that you do for Arp ISD!

A Word for the Class of ‘23

Juniors: Start Preparing: While the seniors are still waiting to see where they will be accepted to next
fall, the Juniors need to begin their college application process as well. There are a few key things the
Class of 2023 can do to make the process seamless.

1. Create that List!
Begin to think about what is important to you in a college. Some things to consider are school
size, location, academic reputation, financial fit, majors and special programs, and social atmos-
phere. Start doing some research and visit, visit, visit!

2. Begin your essay
It’s never too early to begin thinking about your college essay. This essay is unlike a typical
“English class” essay and has 3 main purposes. 1. Answer ”Who are you?” 2. Explain how can
you contribute to a college campus? 3. Demonstrate that you have writing ability. This is tradi-
tionally the sticking points for many students during senior year, so get it out of the way now!
There will be time to update and revise in senior year.

3. Do well in your Junior Year
The most important thing you can do in Junior year is to do well in your classes. Colleges want to
see that you have learned not just math and English over the last 3 years, but that you learned
how to study, to manage your courses and to be responsible. The best way to demonstrate that is
with good grades.
