Glance in Advance Message From Our Superintendent

 EOC/STAAR Testing
This has certainly been an eventful year! In March of 2020 we
May 6 began our annual week long Spring Break holiday. Little did we
 FFA Banquet 6:00pm know that we would not return for in person instruction for the
remainder of the 2019-2020 school year. The global COVID-19
May 10 pandemic has left its mark on the past calendar year. It is still
 School board: 6:30pm leaving its mark even today.
 TSI testing
I am proud that in August of 2020 our students and staff
May 11 returned to Arp ISD. We began the 2020-2021 school year not
 TSI testing fully knowing if we would be able to keep our doors open. This
 Band Spring Concert has been a unique school year. Things have definitely been
different due to COVID-19, but we should all be proud of how
6:30-8:00pm well our school community has navigated this global pandemic.
Thanks to a herculean effort from our faculty, staff, students, and
May 13 parents we have had an amazing school year.

With only a few weeks left in the school year, we find ourselves extremely busy! Please
be aware of the important items below:

EOC Testing
May 4 - Biology
May 5 - US History
May 6 - Algebra I

Scholarship and Awards Ceremony
Thursday, May 13 at 9:00am in the AHS Auditorium—masks optional

Schedule Request Forms
Current 9-11 grade students need to turn in their schedule request forms by Friday,
May 14. Parent signatures are required.

TSI Testing for Seniors
TSI testing dates for seniors are as follows”
May 10 - 7 spots open
May 11 - 10 spots open
* Another testing date will open if needed the week of May 17.

TSI (for sophomores wanting to take dual credit)
A google sign-up sheet will be emailed out to students after EOC results arrive on
June 15. Tentative TSI dates are June 28 & 30.

Graduation
Graduation will be May 21 at 7:00 pm in the AHS Auditorium. Masks are optional.
Seniors will receive 4 reserved tickets and 11 general admission tickets. Seniors will
receive detailed information the week of May 10.

March Employee of the Month

Ms. Williams is the March staff of the month. She has been
teaching at AHS for 2 years. The favorite part of her job
is working closely with the FFA kids and their SAE’s. Ms.
Williams graduated high school from Hawkins ISD and college at
Texas A&M University-Commerce. If she could go on a paid
vacation anywhere, she would go to Italy. She enjoys doing
absolutely nothing on the weekends and her favorite holiday is
Christmas. Her favorite food is spaghetti. Ms. Williams favorite
movie is Princess and the Frog. If she could have a superpower, she
would like to read people minds.
Congratulations to Ms. Williams on being Staff of the Month!

Senior of the Month

Congratulations to Quindavian P. for being the senior
Student of the Month here at AHS! Quindavian’s favorite
thing to do when he is not at school is to watch Netflix, play video
games and basketball. Quindavian’s favorite place to go on
vacation is anywhere but Tyler, Arp, Kilgore or any other close
East Texas town. His favorite class subject is art and he will
probably attend TJC after graduation. Quindavian’s favorite
restaurant is any seafood place and his favorite foods to eat there
are catfish, hushpuppies with some fries. His favorite holiday is
Christmas. He has a dog and his favorite movie is Little Rascals.
Good job Quindavian!

Junior of the Month

Congratulations to Kencia L. who is the junior Student of the
Month here at AHS! Kencia’s favorite thing to do when she is not
at school is to watch Korean dramas and anime. If Kencia could have
any superpower, she would want the ability to teleport. Her favorite
place to go on breaks is Houston and her favorite class subject is
forensics. Kencia would like to attend Sam Houston State University.
The extracurricular activities that she partakes in are golf and academic
rodeo. Kencia’s favorite restaurant is Kawa’s and her favorite food there
is shrimp. When she gets out of school, Kencia says that she would like to be a forensic
pathologist. Kencia’s favorite holiday is Halloween and her favorite movie is Train to Busan.
Keep up the good work Kencia!

Sophomore of the Month

Abby C. is the sophomore Student of the Month! Her favorite
thing to do when she is not in school is to hang out with her
friends. If she could have one superpower it would be to travel into
the future. Her favorite place to go visit are the beaches in Florida.
Her favorite subject is History, because she likes to learn all about
the events that happened in the past. She would like to visit Bora
Bora some day. Abby hopes to attend Trinity Valley Community
College after graduating high school. Congratulations Abby!

Freshman of the Month

Ryson was the freshman Student of the Month for March.
Ryson’s favorite subject is art, because he likes being
creative. His favorite movie is Coraline. He likes to sleep, draw and
run in his free time. If he could have one superpower it would be
the ability to control probability. He would love to travel to Tokyo
and Japan and his favorite place to visit during breaks is Disney
World. Congratulations Ryson!

A Night in Dark Shadows - Prom 2021

On Saturday, March 13, 2021, Arp High School had its
Junior-Senior Prom. Colton Birdsong was chosen as King

Fishing Teams Advance

Arp Bass Teams finished out the regular fishing schedule having back to back tournaments on
Lake Palestine. Tucker Evans and Christian Ward placed 3rd on the March 13 tournament and 5th
the next day putting them in 1st place and winning Anglers of the Year for the East Division. Arp
High School came in 3rd place with 482 points.

We have 9 teams going to the Regional tournament this year on April 17 at Lake O’Pines.

Arp FFA Livestock Judging Team competed at the TAMU-C Area CDE contest on
