The Kuala Gandah Elephant
Conservation Centre is an
elephant sanctuary which
located in Lanchang, Pahang.
It was established in 1989.
All of the elephants are
rescued Asian elephants because their habitats are being
lost to cultivation or development. This Conservation
Centre also aims at raising
public awareness and supporting
research for elephants. Its
existence began to be publicised
in 1997 and has increasingly
become a popular tourist
attraction in Pahang.

This Kuala Gandah elephant
sanctuary is free for entrance
and all you need to pay is the
food and the fee of bathing
with the baby elephants.
Visitors can buy some food
for examples bananas, peanuts, sugar canes and
papayas to feed the elephants. Besides, visitors are
being given the chance to go into the river to wash the

younger elephants subject
to strict quotas and
advanced booking. Visitors
can also ride on an elephant
and may buy some souvenirs
at the souvenir stall. Kids
will fall in love with
elephants after they have experienced the close
interaction at Kuala Gandah.

Actually, this place isn’t

focused on money and it’s

more focused on the elephants.

The donation is encouraged

because an

elephant can

consume up to 1.5 tonne of food which

costs a hundred ringgit per day. There are

26 elephants in the sanctuary and it needs

RM2600 cost of food per day.

As a conclusion, this place is suitable for everyone
especially for families.
