CONTINUOUS LEO

DEVELOPMENT (CLD)

The CONTINUOUS LEO DEVELOPMENT (CLD)
was adopted by a Resolution passed at the 2nd
District 308 B2 Lions Convention in Kota
Kinabalu on 29 April 2000. It provides
comprehensive training facilities to improve the
Leo education and knowledge and thus, be a
highly disciplined, well organized and effective
body in their activities with a deep sense of
commitments towards our Leo Program.

The BLOG (http://cld308b2.blogspot.com) is a store house for CLD
education materials. It is also a Registration Centre that keeps Records of
Leo participants; has general information on CLD activities, procedures, CLD
Achieves and Administration.

PART 1: LEO ORIENTATION

A Leo is given the syllabus on this topic.

Leo members need to attend a District "Leo Member Orientation' conducted by a CLD
Speaker. The presentation will be 45 minutes.

The Leos must recite the Leo Pledge correctly. Furthermore, a work sheet will then be
given. Leos will answer the questions. Speakers will discuss the answers.

The Leos will be registered and given a registration number by the CLD Board so they can
proceed further in the CLD program.

CONTINUOUS LEO

DEVELOPMENT (CLD)

PART 2: L.E.O WORKSHOP

The LE.O course covers the three Lions Clubs International designated
values: Education on Leadership, Education on Experience (Skills for
Adolescence) and Education on Opportunity (Skills for Action).

Leo members who have passed the 'Leo Orientation' and have been
registered with the CLD Board, can attend a 'L.E.O' Course: - LEO Workshop &
LEO Assessment conducted by a CLD Speaker.

The LE.O workshop includes presentation on Leadership, experience,
opportunity topics, group discussion, problem solving activities, public
speaking. (Duration 2 hours).

An LE.O. worksheet will be given covering 60% Leadership topics, 20%
Experience, 20% Opportunity. Leos will answer the questions. Speakers will
discuss the answers. (Duration 45 minutes).

PART 3: SERVICE PROFICIENCY

Five service badges are available Children, Community / Hunger Relief,
Environment, Health, and Vision.

Each service area consists of reports and service points. Each service area
completed will entitle a Leo to obtain a badge.

To qualify for a Service Proficiency Award, a Leo has obtained the 'LEO
Proficiency' Award and has completed all service areas in Part 3.

MEMBER

Lions Dignitaries, Fellow Lions, Lionesses, Leos, Ladies and Gentlemen,
my duty today is to initiate new Leos in our Lion's Program.

We are about to begin the initiation ceremony which will welcome new
members to Leo Club of ______________________________. This is the most
important occasion for these members and for our club, and I sincerely
request the attention and silence of the members during the ceremony.
Please withhold any applause or demonstrations until it is completed.

" I shall now call the names of the new members and their sponsors and
as I do, please step forward when your name is called".

On behalf of the officers and members, I welcome you to join the Leo

members, and we are all happy and proud of your decision to accept.

Membership in a Leo Club is a privilege. You are about to enter a
program that extends throughout the world. It began in 1967 as an
official activity of Lions Club International. Leo goals include high moral
standards, personal responsibility, an attitude of cheerfulness and
understanding, and in addition, extending a helping hand to those in
need.
