The Ready-Made Garment (RMG) industry of Bangladesh has played a pivotal role in
country’s economy since its inception in the late 1970’s. It has made a profound contribution to the
nation’s export revenues, foreign exchange reserve, employments rates, poverty reduction and the
empowerment of women. Despite its numerous achievements and growth, the sector has undergone
significant changes and encountered various challenges particularly in relation to its financial
health. This study aims to investigate the effects of COVID-19 pandemic on the financial
performance of Ready-Made Garments Industry (RMG) in Bangladesh. The research findings
demonstrate that the COVID-19 pandemic adversely affected profitability as highlighted by of firms
through reductions in return on assets and return on equity.
