WORKING PRACTICE
Do not remove the rivets, nuts, and pins from the rim, spoke plate and hub, since they cannot be disassembled.
Never ride ori the rim or try to bend the wheel.
Avoid damaging the alminum alloy rim.

HEADLIGHT
HEADLIGHT CASE REMOVAL
Remove the headlight and disconnect all
wires at their couplers and connectors.
NOTE
It is necessary to hold the connectors
with pliers to prevent the wires from
being cut while operation.
To remove the headlight case, screw out
the right and left reflectors and headlight
stay mounts.
WIRING CONNECTION IN HEAD·
LIGHT CASE
Route the wires into the headlight case
through the headlight case hole.
Route the wire harness into the headlight
case through the headlight case lower hole.
Connect the wires color-to-color.
Set each coupler in its correct holder in the
headlight case.
For wiring procedure, see page 1-12.
HEADLIGHT INSTALLATION
Align the punch marks on the headlight
case with the punch marks on the headlight
case brackets. Position the turn signals
parallel to the ground.
NOTE
Check each component for operation
after assembling.

TACHOMETER
SPEEDOMETER AND
TACHOMETER REMOVAL
Remove the cable nuts and disconnect the
speedometer and tachometer cables.
Remove the two retaining nuts and lift off
the meter bracket with the speedometer,
the tachometer and the indicator assembly.
Remove the four nuts and separate the
speedometer and tachometer from the
bracket.
INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHT
REPLACEMENT
The indicator bulbs can be removed by re- ,_ _,.....
moving the indicator panel cover attaching
screws.
If replacement bulbs do not come on, then
check the relative wirings for shorts, open
circuit, or loose connection.
SPEEDOMETER, TACHOMETER
AND METER LAMP REPLACEMENT
To remove the lamps , remove the
speedometer and tachometer under stays.
Remove the meter under plates and cables
to replace the meters.

STEERING HANDLEBAR
HANDLEBAR REMOVAL
Remove the wire bands.
Remove the turn signal switch.
Remove the brake master cylinder.
Loosen the engine stop switch attaching
screws and remove the handlebar upper
holders, and the handlebar with the throttle
grip, the throttle cables and the engine stop
switch intact.
NOTE
Do not loosen the front brake hose
unless the brake requires servicing .
HANDLEBAR INSTALLATION
Installation is essentially the reverse of
removal.
NOTE
Apply grease to the throttle grip area
of the handlebar.
Position the handlebar on the lower holders
with the punch marks on the handlebar in
line with the top of the holders.
Place the upper holders on the handlebar
with the punch marks facing the front.
Torque the forward bolts first , then tighten
the rear bolts to the same torque.
Position the master cylinder holder with
the relief cut down and the lug in line with
the punch !"'lark on the handlebar.
Install the engine stop and turn signal
switches with the splits in the housings
aligned with the punch marks on the
handlebar.

FRONT WHEEL REMOVAL
Raise the front wheel off the _ground by
placing a padded block or safety stand
under the engine.
Remove the right brake caliper.
Remove the left brake caliper.
NOTE
The brake caliper removal is required
for "F" model only.
Disconnect the speedometer cable from
the speedometer gearbox.
Remove the left and right axle holders.
NOTE
Do not operate the front brake lever after
removing the front wheel. Failure to do
so will cause difficulty to fit the brake
disc between the brake pads.
AXLE INSPECTION
Set the axle on V-blocks and measure the
bend.
The actual bend is 1/2 of TIA (Total indi·
cator Reading).
SERVICE LIMIT: 0.2 mm (0.008 Im.)

wheel in a truing stand and spinning the (1) PLAY
wheel by hand. Replace the bearing with a
new one if noisy or has excessive play.

Check the rim runout by placing the wheel
in a truing stand. Then spin the wheel by
hand, and read the runout by using a dial
indicator gauge.

AXIAL RUNOUT : 2.0 mm (0.0079 In.)
NOTE
The COMSTAR WHEEL cannot be
repaired and must be replaced with a
new one if the service limits are
exceeded.
BRAKE DISC THICKNESS
Measure the disc plate thickness with a
micrometer.
SERVICE LIMIT:
"F" MODEL: 4.0 mm (0.1575 In.)
"K" MODEL: 6.0 mm (0.2362 In.)
BRAKE DISC RUNOUT
Measure the disc plate runout with a dial
indicator gauge.
SERVICE LIMIT: 0.30 mm (0.0118 In.)

Install the bearing retainer with the tool ~ CB750
"Retainer Wrench"and peen it over at two
points.
Install the distance collar and drive in the
bearing.

Lubricate the inside of the dust seal with
grease:
"F" MODEL:
Install the dust seal and collar in the hub on
the right side.
"K" MODEL:
Install the dust seal and collar in the hub on
the left side.
NOTE
· The spoke plate bolts and nuts require
no retaining since they are secured
with lock pins.
· Do not remove these lock pins.
SPEEDOMETER GEAR RETAINER
INSTALLATION
"F" MODEL:
Install the speedometer gear retainer in the
hub from the right side.
"K" MODEL:
Install the speedometer gear retainer in the
hub from the left side.
Disassemble the speedometer gearbox.
Lubricate the gears and sliding faces.
Install the speedometer gear in the wheel
hub, aligning the speedometer gearbox
tangs with the notches in the retainer.

FRONT WHEEL INSTALLATION
Insert the axle through the wheel hub from
the right side.
Torque the axle nut, noting the installation
direction of the speedometer gearbox.
TORQUE SPECIFICATION:
5.5-6.5 kg,m (40-47ft,lbs)
NOTE
Install the speedor1o:?ter gearbox
horizontally, being careful that there is
no sharp bend in the speedometer
cable.
Position the axle holder on the fork end
with the "F" mark facing the front.
Tighten the forward nut to the specified
torque first, then tighten the rear nut to the
same torque.
TORQUE SPECIFICATION:
1.8-2.5kg-m (13.0-18.1 ft-lbs)
NOTE
Place a stand under the engine to
remove load from the front fork. Keep
the handlebar straight ahead.
Install the right caliper holder.
Install the left caliper holder.
Connect the speedometer cable to the
speedometer gearbox while rotating the
wheel by hand.
Install the brake cable and adjust the brake
(Drum type only).
With the front brake applied, pump the
front fork up and down several times to
check for proper operation.
Recheck the installation of the axle holders
and adjust, if necessary.

· Set the fork bottom case in the soft
jaws of a vise, being careful not to
tighten excessively.
· Temporarily install the spring and fork
bolt should difficulty be encountered
in removing the bolt.

Fluid) to fill the front fork.
OIL CAPACITY: 145-155 CC (4.8-5.2 ozs)

Pour the specified amount of ATF. Do

HEAD TOP THREAD TIGHTENING
Install the adjuster in the frame neck and
tighten it until snug against the top cone
race. Then, back it out 1/8 turn.
Make sure that there is no vertical
movement and the stem rotates freely.
TOP BRIDGE INSTALLATION
Install the front fork legs.
Position the fork tubes so that the upper
ends are even with the steering head
adjuster.
NOTE
J Do not mix the right and left fork legs.
Temporarily tighten the bottom bridge fork
bolts.
