Welcome to the past

A Colony is a place like a small village or town ruled by
another country the people living in it are colonists a colonist is
somebody that settles in a new land. The 12 colonies in America
were owned by England and ruled by King George. King George
wanted all thirteen colonies because he already had twelve why
not thirteen so he basically said give me the colonia and said I
will take the New Netherlands peacefully or violently New
Netherlands picked peacefully because they new they didn't
have enough guns or men to fight a war and they didn’t want to
have their houses destroyed. King George gave it to his brother
the Duke of York which made it New York. Luckily they didn't
have to give up there jobs homes or have to move to another
place all they had to do was swear allegiance to great Britain
and follow british rules.

My Colonial town

Most of the streets where narrow and unpaved and there was a
few larger buildings most of the buildings were small and close
together. The governor is leader of the colonia,like a president
he leads the colonia. People gather in a tarem(dining eating and
sleeping rooms. The towns were smaller back then pigs,cows
and goats lived free and could come in homes. Now their in a
farm or a pen or barn. And people would throw their garbage
out the window. Now we use garbage trucks and put the
garbage in pales for the garbage trucks to pick up.

What did the houses look like?

The Colonists first homes were longhouses from the Native
americans. Then they upgraded to houses made of brick,stone
and wood every, house had a fireplace for cooking,warmth and
light. It was lucky to have one table and one chair. Mattresses
were made of wheat. Some cellars which are now called
basements where 6 or 7 feet down. Rich people had manitions
and a fireplace in every room and they poop or pee in a pot or
pit and rub their butt with corn cobs.

Also homes back in the 1700s
did not look as nice as today's
homes.

What would my towns houses look like?

‘’Hi my name is Edward, good marrow how do you fare?’’ ‘’Today I
will be teaching you about my life in colonial times’’. I will be
teaching you about homes. The homes of my town and a fact
about them. Now buildings are made of brick,stone and wood
the date of year is 1710. Here is the apothecary, the apothecary
is a place were they pull out bad teeth,give medicine and give
out candy. ‘’Let’s move on’’ ‘’here is the general store this is
where I get my fancy stuff that I cannot make,from Britain like
tea’’. ‘’Let’s move on, here is the blacksmith’’. ‘’The blacksmith is a
place where a person creates useful tools such as
pots,pans,cooking utensils and puzzle taverns.

Towns

This is the courthouse and the jail and church in Fairfield
Connecticut.

The School House

School was a one room school house with one teacher. The
girls left school when they learned to do reading or writing a
little when they left the left to do housework. Families that were
not wealthy like farmers left school at about 6th grade. The
wealthy people stayed till high school some even went to
college. Parents paid money or food to the teacher. In the winter
the children gave the teacher firewood for their fire if they didn't
they had to sit far from the fire.

Fun All Day and Night

Native Americans did manythings for fun Here are just a few of
them: swimming races and played a game called snow snake.
Colonial people played with wood dolls,ring toss,a board game
called morris,walking on stilts,sack races,nine pins,flying a kite and
roll the hoop.

What Now?

The king of England made the colonists pay taxes for the
war because they felt that they had protected them and
gotten more land. Some of the colonists did not like this and
were patriots because they started the war and the
colonists didn't want a war. Others were still agreeing with
the the king of England and thought it was faire that they
had to pay taxes to the king because he protected them
they were called loyalists. So the Revolutionary war started
the 13 colonies fought off England and gained their
independence and figured out a law for everybody but not
everybody agreed because they were different states so
they sticked to their own rules and decided to become
states.

Allegiance-To be loyal to a person
Breeches-Leggings that go to your knees
Stays-A skirt girls wore for all there life and boys wore till 6 years
old
Colonist-A person that is in a colonia ruled by their home
country
Cellars-another way to say basement
Mattresses-The bouncy part under a bed
