TITLE: KINDNESS AND GENEROSITY
“I have to admit, I didn't expect this when you said there was a dragon on the loose in the
supermarket at Alor Gajah, dispatch.”
“What the hell did you think I meant then?”
“I dunno, a Komodo dragon? You know, something that exists? Listen, this isn’t a job for
Animal Control. Find a wizard or something. I’m not going in there.”
“Wizards don’t even exist!”
Behind him, the ceiling collapsed under the weight of the dragon, dumping it into the
produce aisle.
“Well, neither does a twenty-ton fire-breathing lizard, but one of those just fell through the
roof!”
“Alright, alright!”
A gout of flame erupted from the wreckage, flambéing a pigeon overhead.
“And someone call the fire department.”
“Right."
Silverwing had arrived in front of the supermarket. “Perhaps I shall find water here.” He
thought. People stopped what they were doing to look at Silverwing in awe, or terror. Of
course, he was used to that.
He was a dragon, after all.
Silverwing walked inside, looking for water to quench his thirst.
He found a section in the back, containing water bottle packs and water gallons. Relief
flooded his body and mind, at least until he thought about how to take it with him. The
silver dragon sat there to think, ignoring the stunned people he saw all around him.
“Should I steal it?” The question floated in his mind. But stealing is wrong---even a dragon
could know that. But the longer he waited, the thirstier he became. At last, a solution
arose. A young girls, Amalin and Mei Mei slowly walked up to the thirsty dragon. “E-
excuse me, dragon,” they timidly asked. “S-something seems to be t-troubling you. May
we ask what?” Silverwing turned to look at the girls with gentle eyes. “I am very thirsty,
but I do not know either to steal the water or pay for it, and even if I did pay for it, how
would I take it with me?”
“Maybe we can help.” Amalin and Mei Mei looked thoughtful. “Maybe you could pay for it,
while I can help you take it back to your home.” It was a good idea, Silverwing realized.
This young girl could be a great deal of help. “Okay,” The dragon gave in. “You may help
me. I shall reward you if you do.”
“Why both of you wanna help me?” ask the dragon.
Amalin and Mei Mei sing a song Umbrella by Rihanna.
When the sun shines, we'll shine together
Told you I'll be here forever
Said I'll always be your friend
Took an oath, I'ma stick it out 'til the end
Now that it's raining more than ever
Know that we'll still have each other
You can stand under my umbrella
You can stand under my umbrella, ella, ella, eh, eh, eh
Under my umbrella, ella, ella, eh, eh, eh
Under my umbrella, ella, ella, eh, eh, eh
Under my umbrella, ella, ella, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh
The dragon smiled.
And so, the dragon left the store with the girls on his back, carrying bags full of the water
bottles and gallons.
Amalin and Mei Mei were beaming with joy because they manage to help the dragon.
Its already 7 O’clock, Amalin was driving her car, she suddenly saw an old man, stranded
on the side of the road. He looked like in a needed help. So, Amalin and Mei Mei got out.
They smiled, they approaching him but still he was worried. They could see, how
frightened he was, so they tried to calm him by introducing themselves.
“Both of us here to help you, don’t worry and don’t be scared Uncle. My name is Amalin
and this is Mei Mei. What is your name, Uncle?”
“My name is, Jarjit”.
The tire was flast, so they had to crawl under the car. While changing the tyre, their hands
were hurt.
When the job was done, he asked how much he owed them for their help. Amalin and
Mei Mei smiled. Mei Mei said
“If you want to pay us back, the next time you see someone, who needs help, give that
person needed assistance. And think of us”.
At the same night, the old man stopped by a small café named Amin’s Café located at
Durian Daun, Melaka. He saw there is no customers at that cafe. Then, he saw a waitress,
nearly seven months pregnant, wiping all the tables at the café. The waitress had a sweet
smile towards him.
The old man wondered how someone can be so kind and giving smile to a stranger plus
he is a indian old man. The old man had finished her meal and paid with a hundred ringgit.
The waitress went to get change and when she came back, the old was gone already.
But, he left a sticky note on the table
You don‘t own me anything. Somebody once helped me, just like now I‘m helping you. If
you really want to pay me back, do not let this chain of love end with you“.
That night the waitress came home earlier. She was thinking about the old man and the
money she left.
“ I saw many people that are very well educated but they have no humanity left in them.
By the help of this indian old man, I learn that I have to help others no discrimination is
applicable in humanity for Allah all the humans are just same so why we made
discriminations of poor or rich and many other.
The Prophet Muhammad, Allah’s Blessings and Peace be upon him, said:
“There is no superiority for an Arab over a non-Arab, nor for a non-Arab over an Arab.
Neither is the white superior over the black, nor is the black superior over the white —
except by piety.”
With the help of this hadith we can easily understand that everyone in the world is equal
there is no difference between rich and poor. So when people love humanity they make
their society a better place and helps to make peace among themselves.
This is truly the good example of helping and he inspires me a lot. We can help other in
a different way just to start help others, Allah will help you no matter what.
She was wondering, how the old man could know, how much she and her husband
needed it, especially now, when the baby will soon arrive. She knew that her husband
worried about that, so she was glad to tell him good news.
