Year 7&8 2016 Camp Rotorua

+

We had just arrived at our campsite. I could
hear loads of bored kids say “Finally!!!” But I
wasn’t bored one bit.
“We are here!” I said with excitement. It was a
long eight hour bus ride and we had finally
made it to our campsite.
I was so excited to go on the luge the next
day…

Luge

We were almost at the skyline, it was a
scorching hot Tuesday morning and we were
getting ready to go on the luge. There were
lots of interesting stuff such as the Sky Swing
and the jelly belly shop.
But I was only interested in going on the luge.
Once Mr O had finally called my number I
raced down the ramp, straight down to the
black carts. I hopped into the cart and went
down the scenic route.

My hands were slipping off of the melting hot,
black, rubbery handle bars as I was racing
down the track.
I had a massive headache it felt like I had a
massive brain freeze, I had just crashed into
the side of the barrier. But it all got better
when I got to the bottom of the track.
I went on the ski lift with Arlo. We saw other
kids racing down the track.
And a couple of helmets that had fell onto the
netting. Boston was on the ski lift behind us.
Once we had finally got back up to the top we
raced down back to where the carts were, it
was now time for our second turn…
Once we hopped into a cart we started to go
down the track.
Arlo went first, and then Boston, then Carter
then it was my turn.
I was right behind Carter and Boston, Carter
was ramming me into the wall.
Once we were halfway down, I then went past
Boston. But Carter was too far ahead.
We had finally made it to the bottom, we then
put our carts onto the conveyor belt and went

onto the ski lift with Boston and we went
straight back up to the top.

Jelly bean store

We then went into the jelly belly shop.
They had loads of jelly beans and very cool
jelly bean art work. I got lots of jelly beans and
I accidentally bought sugar free jelly beans
that didn't taste very nice. But otherwise all
the other regular jelly beans I got were really
nice. My favourite jelly beans were the sour
ones that came in little packets of 10. After we
had finished we had to go to the gondola. As
we were going down we saw lots of
interesting stuff. We even saw the sky sports
trailer. Once we had got out of the gondola we
raced down to the bus we then went straight
to the camp site.

Gengy’s

On the Wednesday we went out for dinner to
an all you can eat buffet called ‘Gengy's.’
There were lots of yum foods like sushi and
beef and ice cream and heaps of other stuff.
As we were eating our dinner Carter dared
Boston to chug down a whole glass of water
mixed with pepper. Yes, Boston did drink the
peppery drink of doom and yes, he did vomit
on Carter's shoulder. The vomit that was all
over Carter made me feel sick. After that
Jackson said he would give me $5 dollars if I
drank Jackson's glass of water that had like
half of the pepper shaker in it, it looked like
Boston had vomited in it! Yes, I did drink it
and no, I didn't get $5. After dinner we went
back to the campsite and got ready for bed.

Rainbow springs/Log flume

It was Thursday morning and we were on our
way to rainbow springs.
The bus ride was hot and muggy; I was not
enjoying it at all.

Once we had finally made it I was tired and
my legs felt like jelly even though the ride was
only ten minutes I was still really tired.
Just as we hopped off we all walked to the
front of the big green building and waited for
the lady to come and take us to see the
rainbow trout. When we got the trout pond the

lady then ran up the hill
and took a photo of us.
The rainbow trout looked
massive and there were a
lot of them.
Next we walked over to see the little baby
trout they were so tiny and they were pretty
fast.
As we were walking along we saw lots of
interesting birds and one really big it looked
three times bigger than all the other birds.
Once we had finished looking at all the trout,
geckos, locus and birds we headed towards
the log flume…

We were almost there and I could see the first
boat go down the big drop.
Although it wasn’t that big of a
drop, you still got soaked by all
the water that comes zooming
over the top of your boat.
We raced to the back of the boat. We started
to move, we saw lots of interesting stuff such
as a big plastic, moving dinosaur and a log
that falls over your head. Once we had raced
down the big drop, I got soaking wet and my
clothes were damp. Once everyone had
finished we then went back to the campsite to
grab our togs.

Polynesian Spas!

We had just arrived at the Polynesian spas
and we could see lots of people all in the
spas.
One of the spas was green. After we had a
little paddle we then went back to the
campsite and went to sleep.

Day 5

It was time to go home, we had just finished
and we are now heading home.
After that great, exciting week I almost don't
want to go home.
I can't wait for my next camp!
