STORM EDWARDS
Camp Rotorua
Rainbow Springs
“Wake up!” said Mr O in a calm voice. Calmly I put
my head up out of bed and remembered it was the
log flume so I got out of bed got ready and ran
outside I was so excited for the first time going on
the log flume. We hopped on the bus and drove off
everyone was so excited they couldn't stop talking.
After the bus ride we finally got
there and when I first walked out
the door of the main entrance.
There were bright green trees
surrounding me as I walked out,
there was more and more forest,
I looked down and saw a
beautiful clear lake with Trout that
was the size of Mr O’s arm I felt
my back shiver. We walked
around the animal exhibits to see
all the birds and other animals it
was so cool and we saw our school bird. But the
thing we have all been waiting for is the log flume,
we slowly walked to the log flume. There was a
playground and it was huge there were two swings,
one basket swing, one zip line and a slide all of us
played on that for a while.
Finally it was lunch and I ate my big juicy rap yum it
was so good, now it was time for the thing we have
all been waiting for the log flume, all of us sprinted
inside, 8 of us jumped on the boat and talked away
so excited for the big splash. We went up the pitch
black lift, when we reached the top sun boomed in
our faces (swoosh) as we came in to a peaceful
forest, we were swaying side to side and next
minute we saw a dinosaur it was about 3 meters
tall. We turned the corner and we heard this
unfamiliar voice in the bushes?
“Who was that?” I said to Amy “was that you?”
“No it was a speaker” said Amy in a calm voice
“Ohh I knew that”
We turned around and there was a log about to fall
on us. I felt like we were going to die.
“This stuff never ends.” I said to myself
We started to turn into a dark midnight room we
stopped and went up a dark lift (swish) the boat
rocked side to side, I looked down and saw that we
were very high my brain froze with terror, we faced
straight ahead and saw the drop, at this point I felt
like I had lost my brain. Ready steady,
“AHHHHHHH!!!” everyone screamed and put their
hands up. I could feel the strong brushing wind go
through my face and it got slower and slower as we
got closer to the ground. (Splash, boom) the boat
rocked like crazy when it hit the ground and all of us
were screaming with laughter and didn’t stop
talking. We slowly went up the lift and got back
where we started. I went about 10 times doing the
same thing over and over again and the log flume
never got old.
Agrodome
The bus turned into a driveway and we were
suddenly on a gravel road, we turned the corner
and we saw heaps of bus parked by the Agrodome.
We slowly walked off the bus and lined up to get a
sticker so we were allowed in, and slowly walked
into the Agrodome, we sat down on wooden sets
and next to us were
other people watching
the show. Everyone one
went silent as the man
walked on the stage.
“Welcome to the sheep
show” said the man,
let’s get started
The first sheep came out and it was the Merino
which was the biggest of all of the other sheep
breeds. It showed all the sheep breeds and then a
cow came out and the man picked four people to
come up and milk the cow he picked too people not
from our school and too people from our school
which was Chloe and Matthew. They all got a
certificate for milking a cow. Next he picked five
people to come up he chose three people not from
our school and two people from our school, if I was
up there I would be scared out of my skin, and then
five little lambs came running on the stage and the
people feed them milk they were so, so cute.
Then the man got a sheep and showed us how to
shear them, it only took about 2 minutes to shear.
By then the show was finished and the dogs put on
a show for us. We went to the gift shop and I got
myself a necklace and I got my mum a necklace
that had an M on it and I got my dad a keyring. I felt
happy that I got my mum and dad a gift.
3-D Maze
I was on the bus sitting by Amy and we saw the 3D
maze
“It’s tiny” said Amy, we all jumped off the bus and
walked onto the grass we had to get into a group of
ten and slowly all groups were in the maze it was
so hard finding your way everywhere you would
turn the corner and there would be a dead end,
then you would turn another corner and it would be
a dead end and again and again and again, it
would get so frustrating.
Finally I found the blue and I found Hayden looking
for yellow so I joined in with him and then Danny
came and said he knows where yellow is so
Hayden and I followed Danny it took a while but we
got there it was 2 colours ticked off the list and 2
more to find. Half an hour later we found the green
and there was just the red to find now we were
running as fast as we could around the corners and
dead ends were popping up everywhere it took a
while, but we finally got there in the end, we had
found the red and got out and bought ourselves an
ice cream, yum.
Gondola Ride and Luge
Finally it is time for my best part of camp, the Luge.
I woke up so happy and ready for the Luge I was
jumping up and down of excitement I packed my
bags and was ready to go, we walked on the bus
and I was ready for today, we pulled into the
driveway, and was trying to find a parking big
enough for the bus to fit in so we walk off the bus
and the bus driver tried to find a parking.
We walked in and saw one of the carts that we
were going to ride it looked like it could go really
fast. It was a dark midnight black cart with green for
go and red for stop and that's when I thought that
we were really going to have fun.
We all lined up in a big long line and Amy and I
were in the front with Mrs Caddick, we zig zagged
through the black strips of rope and went through
the glass door, we stepped inside the lift, the
people in my lift were: Mrs Caddick, Tanika, Amy
and I. We were chatting the whole way up and we
felt this breeze come through we were wondering
where it came from but there was a window that we
had never noticed. We saw the BMX people riding
through the cores we saw this one slop and it was
massive if I did that I would back out before I even
would've go to the top. Just like that we were at the
top, we slowed down and we jumped off really fast.
We walked out and went outside to what for the
others once everyone was all up we took a photo of
us and the view.
We went in groups to the
carts, it was finally my
turn and we walked
slowly to the carts I saw
the carts it was a
midnight black colour with
green for go and red to stop stickers on it. The guy
checked my brakes and I was off I started at the
people who haven't done it before it was easy and it
was the first time I have ever done it before. It was
my first corner and I felt nervous my hands were
shaking like mad and my bones frozen into sticks I
finally turned and I made it there came a slope and
I slowly put on my breaks and made it without
tipping my cart I made it to the end and made it to
the gondola, I went on my own up it I saw Sophie
and Hayley in front of me,
“HI!” I shouted, and they said hi back.
It was about time I was up, it took a slow but
peaceful ride I jumped off and sprinted so I could go
again it was the best fun I had ever had. We went
down the lift, looking out the window gazing at the
glorious view. We hopped out the lift and waited for
the others to come down. We were all finally down
and I looked at our photos at the end we went on
the bus and went back to camp.
