A glimpse into Leo Harith’s experience at Speranza’22 Speranza'22, the Annual Awards Ceremony of the Leo Club of University of Kelaniya was super cool, and I got to be the head of the team making it happen. It was a bit tough dealing with different problems, but our team faced them together. In the end, we pulled off an amazing award ceremony. It was a really special experience that we won't forget. Putting together Speranza'22 had its tricky parts. We had to figure out a lot of stuff, like where to do it, how to give out awards, and lots more. But, as a team, we stuck together through thick and thin. Every problem turned into an opportunity for us to get better and work together even more. A Great Time at Speranza'22 Overcoming Challenges for an Awesome Awards Ceremony 32
Our hard work ripened when the award ceremony finally happened. It was like magic – everyone there felt the excitement. People getting awards were cheered on by everyone in the gathering. The whole event went smoothly because our team had planned it out so thoughtfully and carefully. When everything was said and done, and the last award was given out, you could feel that Speranza'22 wasn't just an event. It was a big party celebrating the Leo Club's spirit and enthusiasm. Our team turned problems into successes. It's a story we'll remember and be proud of in the Leo Club of University of Kelaniya forever. More than just the awards and applause, what made Speranza'22 really special was how it brought the UOK Leo family closer. Even when things got tough during planning, it wasn't about giving up; it was about us all working together. The challenges we faced made the Leo Club of University of Kelaniya even stronger. Leo Annals : Funniest Moment in My Leo Journey There are many memories in the past Leo term. Among them, the most beautiful memory is the Leoninus’23 campaign. The experience I got during those few days was extremely great... Dilki Reshani Every moment spent with my favourite Leos is filled with fun and love! Samali Irugal Bandara I’ve always been famous for falling wherever I go. Whenever I participate in a project, if I didn’t fall, then the other directors used to think that it is not a success- ful project. Yasasvi De Silva One of the funniest moments in my Leo journey was in a rural school near Dambulla during the project “Nenasara Athwela”. A curious student asked an unexpected and hilarious question, catching us off guard and filling the room with laughter. It was a lighthearted mo- ment that made the seminar both educational and entertaining. Supun Dilshan It was not a moment but funny two days which add some momorable memories to my life. We organized a two days’ Leadership Development Program at Batangala Youth Center. That was my first experience with the UoK Leos and it was a great one. I had some funny stuffs with my OC mem- bers which always make me smile when I’m trying to recall them. Krishan Fernando The most funniest moments in my Leo journey were the ones in which I had a chance to dance with my lovely board. Navod Dunusinghe The funny thing is I found out the I almost appeared in group photos my eyes are always closed in many photos. Sachini Piumika 34
One day, while we were conducting a food stall in front of the DH, there were a little girl who is a daughter of a lecturer of our university. She was so cute and lovely. She was friendly with us. She bought snacks and mojito from our stall. But later, she started to take our food continuously. Finally, we fell in trouble and had to lose our business! Thisali Kariyawasam For Leoninus’23, we spent two days at a Youth Center. Those days were filled with love, care, generosity and happiness. Yet, back in days it was somewhat difficult to us, now we are memorizing those silly little talks and funny moments we had there. Dimithri Premarathne The food stall, which was conducted as a fundraising campaign for the VOB competition, was the funniest moment that i ever had in the LEO club. Indushan gunawardene VOB 2.0 was the best event that I’ve ever witnessed and it was the turning point of my Leo journey. Kisal Gimhan Wijekoon Once I took a call to Leo Tharindu Amarasinghe to discuss about a matter related to a project. All of a sudden he answered the phone but the voice was different. And the one who answered the call told about some matters of another project of another club. I was little confused. Later, Tharindu ayya took the phone to him after pranking me. He had given the phone to one of his friends who held the presidentship of another club. Achini Perera The funniest moment in my past Leo journey was cooking and eating jack fruit during the projects Leoninus and Breaking Free. I think it was same to my OC members too. Chameera Amarasooriya w I have fallen almost everywhere when I ent to the projects. In short, when I went to the Installation in Galle, I fell from the top of the stairs to the floor. Every moment ended with endless laughter. Another thing N that I will never forget is the Leo Adiva- si ew Year Festival. I was there. I played folk games in it and fell and got my hand injured. Not only that, a video of me cuddling a little Adivasi girl became viral with nice responses from the social media. Those memories bring a smile to my face even to- day. I’m really grateful to having these Leo memories in my life. Vimansha Wickramanayake 35
In LEO journey, the funniest moment was the leadership camp we had before Inizio. It was a great experience and I highly value the opportunity given for us. Adithya Perera funnyma moment ekak widihata labune gdkm ape set eke hitiya eka kellek funny widihata katha krnne ema eya nitharama eyage crush ekak gn kynw e crush ekath awilla prasidda kenek eyage oya crusheslt kynne “sankutta”. kyl eyata sankuttala gdk hitiya projectwise, dancing wlt etc. oya san- kutta seen eka eya jk ekata qwath eya e kyn dewl gdk funny. virochana piyushana My time as a Leo was filled with many funny and rewarding experiences. I had the pleasure of working on various projects, Organizing Committees, and stalls at the university with my OC members. Doing stalls was a lot of work, but it was also a great opportunity to bond with my team and have some fun. And my physical ER hunts were always an adventure! I’m grate- ful for all the funny and adventurous mo- ments I had during my Leo journey, and I’ll cherish those memories forever. Thivanthi Atimorathanna A friend came to draw pictures for the UOK Leo tlal wjqreÿ event the night before. Around 8 pm, another friend who came with him ran hurriedly past all of us. At the same time, a couple of boys from our group chased after him. Finally, we found out that the first guy who took off running did so to find a tap, not for a drink, but to rinse his mouth! Flashback revealed that he has drunk some thinner out of thirst, taking it for water. His mouth was on fire, so he sprinted off to rinse it out! It’s an unforgettable memory for all of us. Kevshan Vinishka I think everywhere we were together was very funny. Priyamali Jayathilaka One of the funniest and most unforgettable moments in my past Leo journey is Project Soba Siripa. Before we worship the Siripaada we have to have a bath from river Seetha Ga- gula. We all UOK Leo pilgrims had a bath from Seetha Gagula and got cleaned up. After get- ting cleaned up, we headed to the bus to put our stuff and start the Siri Paada journey. So, as you all know there’s one thing that happens every and each project in UOK Leo. The thing is every project that Leo Yasasvi De Silva participated she drags and falls. So, as usual, while we at the moment of crossing the river she fell down to the river and got her leg hurt. It’s not a situation to laugh but we couldn’t stop laugh- ing because of the person who fell down. So, it’s one of the past funniest moments. Devini Liyana Gunawardhana 36
Last year, I started my Leo journey. So, at the start of the term, after splitting the membership among the avenues, I applied for the first project that my avenue was looking for applications for the organizing committee. Last term, my avenue was Wildlife & Animal Conservation Avenue. In the organizing commit- tee, I was chosen for the job of Editor. Our initial endeavor, Project Prana, was designed to conserve wildlife and animals. At the time, the entire avenue was in financial difficulty. So we intended to set up some stalls to raise revenue for our avenue. Saruwath stalls, an ice cream stall, and a chai tea stand were set up to raise donations. On the day of the chai tea stall, before commencing the stall, our project co-chair asked a member to bring a ginger bag for the stall to make the chai tea. After a few minutes, the member purchased a bag of ginger from the vendor. Everyone started making chai tea. After a few minutes, one of the members took the ginger bag and began to cut the gingers. It has a similar appearance to ginger but does not smell like ginger. We could all see why once we chopped the ginger. We all burst out laughing. Can you figure out why everyone was laughing? Our member inadvertently purchased turmeric instead of ginger. So, I believe chai stall day is an incredible moment that we will never forget. Beenu Mudaligama The funniest moment I had in my Leo journey was during the event day of Project Femina organized by Women Empowerment Avenue. We embarked on a journey to Puththalama and conducted an awareness session for the school girls in Thabbowa South. To support their hygiene needs, we also donated sanitary napkins for a year’s usage. The humorous part came during the interaction with the girls. We planned various fun activities for them, and their enthusiasm and laughter were contagious. We played games, shared jokes, and even had impromptu dance-offs. Their pure joy and innocence made every moment incredibly amusing. What made the journey even more memorable was the time spent with fellow Leo Club members. On the way to Puththalama and back to the university, we sang our hearts out, danced to our favorite tunes, and engaged in funny chit chats with our club members. It was a journey filled with laughter, bonding, and the satisfaction of making a positive impact on the lives of those young girls. Nanayakkara Drinking with a punched straw at the Leo tlal wjqreÿ event is a fantastic memory for me.. Bawantha Wedagedara During the time we were preparing for Awurudu function we had to spend a night at one of the bordim places of a Leo boy .All the girls and boys spent the night there while enjoying with funny jokes. Furthermore we cooked meals there and made cups of tea and had a great joy. The jokes we cracked were the funniest part of it and it was soo beautiful.
