Lester allan Pelton who significantly improved and developed the construction of
hydroelectric energy. Although he developed the plant the turbine itself was built by
James Francis and later remodeled by Lester.

● Where is it currently being used and to what extent?
It is being used in different countries such as Canada, Brazil and the United States and
being 16% of the International Energy Agency

● What does the future hold for the use of this technology?
The future has for this technology to be the 34% of the world's energy significantly rising
by 2030. A possibility at the hydroelectric plants that they filter polluted water to give
people in need of clean water to have clean water.

● Why or why not is this energy source appropriate for the Tri-State Area?
It would be appropriate because there are multiple bodies of water in this area allowing
potential sites to be built. Over 2,000 sites could be built in the tri-state area giving off
lots of energy. There are 30 hydroelectric energy plants. In the world 13% of the world's
energy is hydroelectric.

● What is the first major hydroelectric power plant?
On September 30, 1882, the world's f​ irst hydroelectric power plant​ began operation
on the Fox River in Appleton, Wisconsin. It provided cheap energy for a significant
growth in industrial business. This powerplant was known as the appleton power plant.
