I am honored to welcome all honourable speaker and participants to the 2nd International Conference on Sciences, Technology, Education, and Management (InSTEM) 2023 organised by the University College of MAIWP International (UCMI) on 5th October 2023 in Kuala Lumpur City. The theme for the 2nd InSTEM is “Bridging the Gaps in Multidisciplinary Research”. This conference brings together experts, researchers, educators, and professionals from diverse disciplines to exchange views and sharpen the evidence and recommendations for related field of science, technology, education, and management. It also provides the opportunity to discuss various related issues and share experiences, as well as to think together about the global challenges to create a better future. I believed that this conference will contribute towards more systematic research while new collaborations and friendships can emerge and also to encourage participants especially the young researchers to explore current research ideas. NORZAINI BINTI AZMAN Deputy Director General of Higher Education (Academic Management and Research) 20 23 INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY,EDUCATION & MANAGEMENT ND 2 Conference Commencement Norzaini Azman earned her first degree in Education from University of Edinburgh, Scotland, her master and PhD in Higher Education from University of Manchester, England. She is Professor of Higher Education at the Centre for Policy and Leadership, Faculty of Education, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. Norzaini is also a fellow of Academy of Professors, Malaysia; and a Governance Board Member of Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) and University College Yayasan Pahang (UCYP). She is currently appointed as Deputy Director General of Higher Education (Academic and Research Management) at the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia. Norzaini served as the President of the Malaysian Society for Research and Higher Education Policy Development (PenDaPaT) for three (3) terms (Jan 2017 – Jan 2023). She has also been appointed as an Associate Research Fellow at the National Higher Education Research Institute (IPPTN), Universiti Sains Malaysia and at the Institute for Environment and Development (LESTARI), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. Her main research interests include higher education policy and governance, the academic profession, higher education, and sustainability and leadership.

ASMA ISMAIL Pro- Chancellor University College of MAIWP International (UCMI) Malaysia 20 23 INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY,EDUCATION & MANAGEMENT ND 2 Keynote Address Prof. Emerita Datuk Dr. Asma binti Ismail FASc, is the Immediate Past President of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia and the immediate past Science, Technology and Innovation Advisor to the Prime Minister and to the country. She currently holds the positions of the Ibnu Sina Chair for Medicine at International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM ), Pro-Canselor at University College of MAIWP International (UCMI), University Board member for Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) member of the Consultative and Anti-Corruption Panel for the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission and is the Chair for the Planetary Health Action Plan for Malaysia. Prof. Emerita Datuk Dr. Asma holds a BSc (Biology) from the University of Nevada, Reno, USA, M.A. (Microbiology) from Indiana University, USA and a Ph.D (Cellular and Molecular Biology) from University of Nevada, Reno, USA. She also received her Honorary Doctor of Science from the University of Glasgow, Honorary Degree Doctor of the University, Keele University and Honorary Doctorate in Literature from Kyoto University of Foreign Studies (KUFS). Besides being the first female Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) and Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Prof. Emerita Datuk Dr. Asma is also Malaysia’s first female Director-General of Higher Education, first female President of Academy of Sciences Malaysia, first female to be appointed as the Chairperson of the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) and the first woman to be the National Science Advisor to the Prime Minister and to the country. In addition, she was elected to the Academy of Sciences Malaysia in 2003, The Academy of Sciences for the Developing World (TWAS) in 2010, The Islamic World Academy of Sciences in 2016, and was elected as an Honorary Member of the Iranian Academy of Medical Sciences in 2017. Prof. Emerita Datuk Dr. Asma’s contribution to higher education and science development ecosystem are internationally recognised. She has initiated scientific 2 discoveries which have led to the attainment of 16 patents that are commercialised worldwide, and the rapid diagnostic test for typhoid called TYPHIDOT, advocated by WHO. She had also obtained numerous awards and recognitions (more than 270) for her achievements at National and International levels. She has shared her knowledge via more than 130 papers, more than 540 invited talks and more than 90 keynotes at national and global levels. Prof. Emerita Datuk Dr. Asma has been elected as a member of several international boards including the Board of Governors for Commonwealth of Learning (COL) based in Vancouver, Canada, member of the Directing Board and Executive Committee for Islamic Citation Center based in Shiraz, Iran for the OIC, Member of the College of Fellows, Keele University and as a Governing Advisory Board Member for Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University, Japan. She has been appointed as Co-Chair, for the Inter Academy Partnership Board comprising of 150 science academies world[1]wide in 2022 and elected as a member of the International Science Council Standing Committee for Science Planning in 2022 and Chair of the membership for IAP. At the national level she serves as a board member for CREST (Collaborative Research in Engineering, Science and Technology) Center to move STI based companies in the country since 2017, board member of IIUM Holdings Sdn. Bhd, member of the National Science Council chaired by the Prime Minister, High-Tech Nation Council chaired by the Minister of MOSTI (Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation), member of the National Action Council on Shared Prosperity Vision under the Distinguished Educator category, independent board of Trustee for Merdeka Award Trust, board member for the Axiata Foundation, member of the University governing board for UTM and member of the Higher Education Council for the country. She has also been a part of the selection panel for various international awards and recognitions such as TWAS membership (Medical and Health Sciences) and the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) Prize for Women’s contribution to development. She was also part of the jury panel for the Merdeka Award, Rhodes Scholarship to select Malaysians to Oxford University, the Loreal Women in Science Award, the Anugerah Akademik Negara (National Academic Award), MOHE Entrepreneurial Award (MEA) and Best Managed Companies, Asia by Deloitte. Prof. Emerita Datuk Dr. Asma Ismail was also awarded as “Tokoh Akademik Negara “ or National Academic Laureate in 2022, “Tokoh Srikandi” National Award (Academic) in 2018, and “Tokoh Maulidul Rasul” (national level) in 2019. Other awards and recognitions include National Young Scientist Award, National Innovation Award and was named in Jan ,2023 by Forbes Asia magazine as among the Top 50 women over 50 from Asia Pacific that had reached new heights in contributing to the field of higher education, research and innovation as well as policy in the Science,Technology, Inovation and Economy locally and abroad and for inspiring the next generation. Prof. Emerita Datuk Dr. Asma Ismail’s contributions to Malaysia’s higher education system include the establishment of the prestigious National Academic Award (Anugerah Akademik Negara), the establishment of Research Universities in Malaysia and in developing and implementing The Malaysian Education Blueprint (Higher Education) 2013 to 202


Dr. Othman Talib UCSI University, MALAYSIA Prof. Dr. Ching Siew Mooi Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), MALAYSIA Prof. Vu Quang Huy Van Lang University Vietnam Professor Siew Mooi is a Professor of Family Medicine Department and a Consultant Clinical Specialist at the Universiti Putra Malaysia (Malaysia). Her research interests are hypertension, stroke, gestational diabetes, addiction and complementary alternative medicine. She has over 131 publications with scopus h-index of 24 and has been involved in many research projects, grants and awards at national and international levels. She has multiple joint publications with collaborators from Asia, Europe, and the UK. She is the committee member of the International Society of Hypertension under division women and hypertension and Hypertension core group of The Indian Association for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition. She is listed as one of the top 2% Scientists in the World based on Stanford Report 2021 and 2022 (Career-Long Citation Impact Until End – 2020). pLENARY2 “NONADHERENCE IN PATIENTS WITH HYPERTENSION: THE UNMET CHALLENGES” Prof. Vu Quang Huy holds significant positions in the field of medical technology education in Vietnam, serving as the President of AASMT, CVASMT, and the Southern Military Medical Association. He is also the Dean of the Medicine Faculty at Van Lang University. Vietnam's medical laboratory technician training has expanded from three to 33 institutions under his leadership, offering training from intermediate to doctoral levels. He founded CVASMT in 2018 to promote collaboration among institutions and research. With a substantial demand for technicians, including in foreign markets, ensuring quality training, international accreditation, and increased student and faculty exchanges are essential priorities for future development in the field. pLENARY3 MEDICAL TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION IN VIET NAM: INTEGRATION AND HARMONY PROGRAM AND OUTCOME TO MEET VIETNAM, ASEAN REGIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL NEEDS Othman Bin Talib, affiliated with UCSI University in Malaysia, is a distinguished educator specializing in Pedagogy with a focus on Science and Chemistry Education. His subspecializations include Multimedia Learning Theory, Animation, and Research Methodology. Othman holds a Bachelor of Science from UKM (1987), where he specialized in Monitoring Water Quality at Sepangar Bay. He pursued a Master of Science from UPM (1999) with a thesis on The Effectiveness of Mapping Concept Integration Method in the Teaching of Chemical Equilibrium, demonstrating expertise in Pedagogy, Experimental Research Design, and Quantitative Data Analysis. Nuevo Our Lady of Fatima University Philippines Dr. Mastura Badzis International Islamic University Malaysia Malaysia Dr. Ferdinand Mortel is the Dean of the College of Medical Technology of Manila Central University and has been in the academe for more than 25 years. He graduated with degrees Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology, Master of Arts in College Teaching major in Medical Technology, and Doctor of Philosophy major in Educational Administration from Manila Central University. He also serves in other functions on the following capacity: member of CHED NCR Regional Quality Assurance Team (RQAT), member of the National e-Health Capability Building Experts Group of the Department of Health (DOH)-Philippines former Secretary and now the Vice President of the Philippine Association of Schools of Medical Technology and Public Health Inc. (PASMETH)- Philippines. He also held various positions as the former President of the Faculty Association of Manila Central University (FAMCU), president of MCU Medical Technology Association (MCUMTAA), President of MCU alumni Association (MCUAA) and the former Chair of the Research Ethics Review Board (ERB) of Manila Central University Dr. Mastura Badzis, an education expert with 29+ years of experience, holds a doctoral degree in Child Development and Education from the University of Warwick, UK. Currently an Associate Professor at IIUM, she previously served as Deputy Dean Postgraduate and Responsible Research. Mastura has directed the National Child Development Research Centre, been a Visiting Associate Professor at Sultan Qaboos University, Oman, and a Visiting Foreign Scholar at the University of Tokyo. She's a sought-after keynote speaker, subject matter expert, and columnist, contributing to child development, psychology, and education discourse. Additionally, she actively engages in community and professional services and has supervised 12 PhD graduates. pLENARY6 ENHANCING SELF-REGULATION IN YOUNG CHILDREN Jose Jurel M. Nuevo, DrPH, PhD, MSMT, MA Chem, RMT, is a distinguished figure in academia and administration. He currently serves as the College Dean for the College of Medical Technology/Medical Laboratory Science at Our Lady of Fatima University, a position he has held since June 2000. Additionally, he holds the role of Professor IV in the Graduate School since June 2005. Dr. Nuevo also directs the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee and the Animal Care and Experimentation Facility at the university, a role he has undertaken since June 2010. Prof. Dr. Mohd Helmi Ali Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Malaysia Dr. Lalu Nurul Yaqin Universiti Brunei Darussalam Brunei Mohd Helmi Ali is an Professor at the UKM-Graduate School of Business, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. He has experiences in multiple industries such as food, oil and gas, maritime, transportation, and construction. Despite of his recent involvement in academics, he has worked with many research fields, in particular on food integrity and supply chain, halal-hub. His research interest focus on food integrity, halal food supply chain, sustainable development, operation management and innovation. He also is a chartered member The Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport Malaysia. Prof. Ts Dr. Helmi Ali, an esteemed scholar at UKM, specializes in a wide range of fields, including Halal, Food Supply Chain, Food Integrity, Sustainable Production and Consumption, Operations Management, and Transportation, making significant contributions to these areas through his extensive research and expertise. Dr. Lalu Nurul Yaqin is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at Universiti Brunei Darussalam. He holds a Ph.D. in Languages and Linguistics from the University of Malaya. He is deeply dedicated to research and teaching. His research interests include Cultural Linguistics, Pragmatics, Sociolinguistics, and Educational Issues. His research has been featured in numerous esteemed journals, and he remains an active chief editor and reviewer for national and international publications.
