Title: Why music is really important in our daily life?
General Purpose: To inform my audience
Specific Purpose: At the end of my speech, the audience we will learn the importance of
music in our lives and the benefits associated with listen to music to our health and
development of our brain.
Introduction
1. Attention-getter: Today, I am going to talk about music. We can say that all people around
the world listen to music because it is part of our everyday lives. During my whole life I have
never met any person who said they do not fancy music. Many people do not realize the
importance and benefits of listening music. Do you really think that the only way that music
benefits our life is to relax after a stressful day?
Since the beginning of civilization man has heard music, he has played music using the
simplest to the most complex instruments that exist nowadays. Every day of our lives we listen
to music, when we are staying in our home, when we are driving in our car, when we want to
relax, when we go to a party, when we take a shower, music is always part of our lives. The
music has on us the power to affect our mood. Music stimulates brain cells, reduces stress
and is also used to cure sick people and has therapeutic powers. Music should be considered
an essential element of human being life.
Since I was child I have been listening to and enjoying music. When I was nine years old I
took piano and guitar classes. Later on, when I was fourteen years old I wanted to be a singer
and I used to be part of a band (singing group) from my high school. When I became an adult,
I decided that I wanted another career but I never apart music from my life. I have always
surrounded myself with music and try to go to as many live concerts and music festivals as I
can.
2. Write specific purpose: Today I am going to talk to you about music. We are going to
learn how music can affect our lives our emotions, how music can be a form of therapy and
how you can use it to handle stress. Additionally, we can learn about all the physical and
emotional benefits of listening to music every day.
Body
3. Music as therapy: If we enjoy listening to music and doing that you forgot about all the
problem and bad things that happened to you during the day, the Music can be the best form
of stress relief.
Many therapists use music as a therapeutic method to rehabilitate sick people. Has been
proven that music produces physical benefits. Listening to Music induce your brains levels of
serotonin, dopamine and melatonin, chemicals involved in feeling good. Can relax you and
ease your mind.
Music has been used in hospitals and rehabilitation centres as therapy for adult cancer
patients and it has been proved that significantly reduces emotional distress and boosts
patient’s quality of life. Additionally, has been proved that has the same effect on war veterans
with Post Traumatic Stress.
4. Music is instrumental to develop brain in children: Music is instrumental to develop
brain in children because it uses both sides of your brain. Nowadays, teachers from early
education schools use music to improve the growth of a child’s brain academically, emotionally,
physically and spiritually.
Boston College researchers will use MRI and fMRI imaging to assess the effects of music
training on cognition and investigate whether skills acquired in music training transfer to other
cognitive functions, such as mathematical and verbal performances.
5. Emotional Benefits developed by listen music: Music can trigger happy memories or
moments in time. Article in the Washington Post: music that we enjoy causes spikes in our
dopamine and causes us to crave more of that good feeling, which keeps us listening to that
genre and perusing the best of the best when it comes to our music taste.
Pregnant women when listening to music share hormones with the baby so when the woman
feels good while listening to a certain kind of music the baby will pick up on that emotion and
will still feel those happy or relaxing emotions when they are out of the womb.
Conclusion
6. Write your conclusion: If you don’t believe that this effect is real, see for yourself. When
you do you will agree that music is therapeutic and can affect your mood and relax you on the
most stressful of days. l. Physically your brain becomes more developed with music training,
brain cells are stimulated by music on both sides of the brain. m. Music is something simple
that can really affect your emotions.
Listening to music is important to your brain development and has been known to enhance
your intellect. It also has many emotional benefits to your body. Music is often referred to as
a drug, mostly because it has more than just the ability to make you happy it can provoke
almost any emotion and unlike recreational drugs music causes people to do things that are
beneficial to themselves. Music is going to be present in your life even if you are sad.
