4 Message from President of Bunditpatanasilpa Institute Bunditpatanasilpa Institute, Ministry of Culture is proud to represent the great rule in order to inherit, develop and create Thai Art-Culture by organize Thai Art-Culture festival “Inheriting and Creating Art to the Land of the East” under the project of Academic and Performance through Art-Culture Exhibition year 2023 at Chanthaburi Collage of Dramatic Arts between 14 – 15 January 2023. The purpose is to publish creative works of institution under Bunditpatanasilpa Institute. It is an opportunity to exchange and learn about Art-Culture and cultivate students and people to realize the value of Art-Culture and be part of conservation, development and creation economic and social value to local and nation by cultural resources that related to way of life, social landscape, wisdom and cultural landscape of the local area. It is valuable and gorgeous wisdom heritage and it is represent Thai nation entity. Faculty of Fine Arts cooperates with College of Fine Arts, Suphanburi College of Fine Arts, Nakhon Si Thammarat College of Fine Arts and Chanthaburi College of Dramatic Arts organize International Visual Arts & Design Exhibition 2023 that it is one of Thai Art-Culture Festival “Inherit- ing and Creating Art to the Land of the East”. Although it cannot ignore from human life, iron do not come from the earth. This earth cannot produce that metal. Iron comes from exploded giant star, supernova. In this painting, I depict this concept by placing iron above the ancient earth. Gears and chains represent iron. A part of globe is for the earth. The melting watercolor is for the sent down iron. This watercolor painting is a combination between spontaneity of watercolor effects and realistic forms. I use the wet on wet technique in some part.

This process also caused the emergence of hybrid artifacts. Some of them were a set of ritual items used in ancestor commemoration.

The work has combined with Hue imperial objects and architecture and used oil painting to show the typical beauty of the ancient figures. This also expresses the spirit, emotions, and sentiments of the woman in the old age, living in the feudal past, with draconian regulations of Confucianism.

The artist likes to paint features in the rocks and that can be seen at some extent in this work. As the title suggests, “Gal Amukkuwa” is an eerie but beautiful ancient place where the Mahaweli River (The longest river in Sri Lanka) flows in the mountainous environment of his area. His approach further refers to the naked human body in the open air.
