Personal Reflection on ACP Program Professor A. Bradley

I’ve been teaching in one entity or another for over two decades. Knowing so, I came into the program with no real exceptions. I honestly had my eyes on the

prize...the stipend of course. I had no idea as to what we could possibly learn in the certification program. An old dog can categorically learn new tricks. Initially, I

thought it would be a boring reiteration of material that we had already been introduced to. From the first day, I walked in and was on the edge of my seat as I was

advised and geared with tools that could assist my students, as well as, myself. Each class produced more content that I was able to add to my teaching arsenal. As

time changes, so does technology, students and everything in between.Again, I was pleasantly surprised with the content and the all that I have learned throughout

this course.

The tools has been a blessing in disguise. McKeachies’s Teaching Tips has a wealth of information that professors could truly benefit from. Implementing learning

objectives is advantageous for the students; as well as, the instructors. Realizing that all students learn differently is a lesson that’s imperative to learn as a students,

parent and educator. Creating a class where everyone could learn in an environment that is catered to them is one that every lecturer to strive for.

It is hard to believe that there are a plethora of resources that I not only love, but was able to introduce some to my students in the classrooms. Introducing ways to

keep my students engaged is something I was able to add to my repertoire. The digital syllabus is one that I love as it will be beneficial to my face to face classes; as

well as, students online and hybrid courses. As educators, we can get lost in the monotony of things; however, the various methodologies I acquired in the ACP

program will enhance my ways of teaching. I used to be afraid to implement technology in the classroom, this course afforded me the opportunity to realize that

technology can be a help instead of a hinderance in the classroom. The tools has been a great adage for educational advancement in a number of ways. My students

look forward to lessons as it’s a new way of learning with a twist. I have utilized a number of strategies to my classroom. Game apps have been a great learning tool,

such as Kahoot and Quizlet.Allowing my students to come up with creative assignments in the classroom was a hit. I allowed my students to be creative with one of

the recent lectures I taught them. Student opted create articles, flyers, posters, digital art, poems and a rap on the lesson which allowed them to express themselves

and an easy way to identify and grasp the content. Utilizing student driven assignments is one that I learned in this program that I will continue to implement in the

years to come.

I have been blessed to meet some amazing professors along this journey. Learning new ways to handle challenges in my classroom has been most impactful. Knowing

that I have had the opportunity to meet like-minded individuals in this course will be something I will cherish forever. I have made some lifelong connections and

have colleagues that will be there long after this program is over.

My schedule is chaotic enough as it is. Having this class on Wednesdays has definitely been a challenge to say the least. I can definitely say no matter how exhausted

my day are, I look forward to each session as I take something away every single time. It’s awesome to know that we are truly in this together. I have been able to

brainstorm with my colleagues in creating content for my students, different teaching strategies and ways to assist students that learn differently. There were

scenarios posed and real-life strategies implemented even for those that are deemed challenging. Creating lessons and being able to provide a platform that seeks

the attention of millennials is ideal.Another great thing that Nicole provided in this class is keeping us engaged and providing a dais that got us out of our comfort

zones. The magic happens when we are able to get out of our comfort zones because that is how we are able to grow. This course has been a blessing and I will

forever be grateful for the opportunity this course has provided me and the other educators. This experience has been priceless as no one could have prepared me in

the beginning to truly realize I would walk away with such feeling of accomplishment. For the future dons that will take this course, embrace it with an open mind

and get ready to be blown away as the knowledge is astounding.
