250 Appendix B: Player Options Becoming a Revenant If a player character is unjustly murdered, they may wish to seek vengeance against those who inflicted this injustice upon them. If the GM and player agree, the character may return as a revenant. While they are a revenant, the character cannot pass on to their afterlife, or be resurrected by any means. Before becoming a revenant, agree with your GM on the reason for, and target or targets of, your revenge. As a revenant you gain the following features: Undead. Your type becomes undead, rather than humanoid. You no longer require food, drink, sleep, or air. You no longer grow or age, and you can no longer gain experience or levels. Revenant Resistances. You become immune to exhaustion, and the charmed, frightened, paralyzed, poisoned, and stunned conditions. You gain resistance to necrotic and psychic damage, and immunity to poison damage. Regeneration. You regain a number of hit points equal to half your level at the start of each of your turns. If you take fire or radiant damage, you cannot regenerate on your next turn. Darkvision. You gain darkvision within 60 feet of you, unless you already have darkvision with a greater range. Vengeful Strikes. When you make a weapon attack against the target of your revenge, or a creature that is trying to protect the target from you, you roll the weapon’s damage dice one additional time and add the result to the total. Turn Immunity. You are immune to effects that turn undead. Vengeance Seeker. You innately know the distance and direction of any and all creatures against whom you seek revenge, even if the creature and you are on different planes of existence. If all the creatures die, you learn of their deaths and lose your Regeneration ability. Without Rest. If you are killed, you reanimate with full hit points after 24 hours. If your body has lost parts, it regenerates from the head, and any lost body parts are restored when you reanimate. If your head is destroyed, you can’t reanimate and your soul is forced to the afterlife. Revenge. If you, or one of your allies, slay all targets of your revenge, your purpose as a revenant is complete. You lose your Regeneration and Without Rest abilities and you die. If your soul moves on to the afterlife for any reason, you can’t be resurrected by any means.
