After the voyage begins…..

The explorers as we learned were motivated by a number of
different factors. As we discussed though, this was not an
easy trip they were going to make. In fact there was just as
much chance they would die, as there was they would be
successful.

Often times the explorers were gone much longer
than expected. They would run out of fresh water, or

the materials they brought
