An Introduction to FasterEFT

What is FasterEFT?

FasterEFT (Emotionally Focused Transformation)
is a series of techniques based on a strong belief system. It
allows you to make dramatic and often permanent changes
in your life. FasterEFT is a thinking process. It encourages
you to take complete responsibility for yourself. It uses a
series of valuable tools that empowers you to change how
you represent your past as well as shift limiting beliefs and
emotional disruptions to restore your physical and mental
health.

Robert Smith

Robert Smith developed Faste-
rEFT as a fast way to help others. He’s
built on EFT (Emotional Freedom Tech-
niques), BSFF (Be Set Free Fast) and
other healing modalities. NLP (Neuro-
linguistic Programming) is at its core,
resulting in a seamless, creative skill set.
You can learn Robert’s FasterEFT and
change your unhelpful lifelong patterns
really fast.

FasterEFT is safe

This method is completely safe and can be used by
anyone, anywhere. The more you know about the mind the
greater and faster the changes can happen. If you follow the
steps in this book you’ll find it beneficial. It is always a good
idea when dealing with your mind to remember that we are
more than our experiences. We also have a responsibility to
ourselves, and the world around us, to aim to be the best we
can be.

What it can do for you

Physical and emotional problems associated with the
mind-body system can be changed with FasterEFT. You can
use it for addictions, phobias, eating habits or disorders,
stressors, anxieties, performance issues, depression, aches
and pains and more. Problems are usually caused by
underlying subconscious beliefs. Many issues are due to
perceptions or how we think things should be.

FasterEFT is at the core of a growing community of
experienced, international practitioners who have been
trained by Robert Smith personally. Many practitioners
now offer Internet sessions, making it easier than ever to be
the best you can be.

The Process – How it works

The quick tap

The Quick Tap is the main tool in FasterEFT. The steps
are as follows.
1. Think of a problem that bothers you. Notice how it

makes you feel. Or ask yourself “How do I know I have
the problem?” If you have a problem with someone else
it is best to work on yourself first.
2. It’s best to make the problem feel as real and as strong
as possible. You can do this by remembering as many
different details about times you’ve had this problem
before. Think of pictures, sounds and physical sensations.
3. Say “I am feeling this for the last time”.
4. Notice how strong it is and give it a rating 0-10 (10 being
intense)
5. Imagine a tree. What happens when you pull the roots
from under the tree? It falls over and dies. The same
happens to the removal of the roots to a problem. Once
you sort out what underlies it, the problem can be
removed too.
6. With either hand (or both) tap lightly on your mid-
Eyebrows, Side of your Eye, Under the Eye, on the
Collarbone (where a man’s tie knot sits) as you say:

7. Take hold of your wrist, take a deep breath and as you
exhale say “Peace” as you recall a peaceful memory or
place.

8. Notice how you feel. Repeat steps 2-7 until you feel really
at peace with the memory.

9. After you make peace with it, imagine what you would
have liked to have happen.

Why FasterEFT Works

Your Mind,
Your Experiences, Your Reactions

Your mind is made up of your experiences. Your
reactions are trained habits from your experiences. When
you address your past problems and memories and replace
them with positive experiences you will automatically
be a better person. You cannot help but change this way,
because this is what made “you” act in certain ways in the
first place.

In FasterEFT we believe that your problems started at
birth. You have been learning how to survive based on the
information you received since. So, decide how you would
like to be. Take control of your mind and your life.

The Magic Of “How You Know” Explained

The significant difference between therapies like
FasterEFT and conventional healing therapies lies in taking
notice of how the mind works. Usually when we ask a “why”
question it leads the mind to create a justification for a
problem and embed it further.

With FasterEFT we ask, “How do you know you have a
problem?” because this allows you to think about your own
internal processes. When you look inside you find the “how
to”, and that allows you to address it with the Quick Tap to
change it.

When you change a “how to” memory, you change the
structure of how your brain usually knows to respond. So
when it’s changed to how you’d have liked it to have happened
in your memory, you automatically respond based on that
instead. It works brilliantly.

You will always know what the original memory was, but
there’ll be no trigger now. You have a new, positive resource,
with a better feeling.

Breaking A Belief Or “Problem”

There are two parts to a problem. There is some
proof, which is either a memory or knowledge that there
should be a problem. Or there are emotions, or feelings
supporting the belief or problem. Ultimately, you cannot
have a problem if there is no “true” belief about one.

If you know what you want to change, go back to a
memory, back to the proof. In that memory there will also
be some emotion. Both are drivers for a belief. Without
a belief, you don’t follow through with the associated
action.

Why Tapping Works

Acupressure is over 5000 years old and has its roots
in ancient China. It is among the oldest in known history.
All those years ago they found that if the body was touched
on specific meridians it created a physical reaction in the
corresponding internal organs. Today we know that organs
produce chemicals and electrical impulses to create a flight
or flight response. Stress and emotions are the expressions

of perceived threats. Tapping on the meridians disrupts the
message, breaking the emotional connections within the
mind-body system. By touching particular points you relax
the organs that allow you to feel emotions in the first place.
When these organs are relaxed, you are able to bring in new
thoughts, experiences, and use your imagination to create
new resources to change your behaviour.

Although the tapping process is not required to alter
your beliefs, it is very helpful in creating faster changes. That
sums up FasterEFT.

Change Your Memories, Change Your Life

By changing our memories, we are setting up new
behaviours for our mind to run when we encounter different
experiences. We’ve all wished we’d done things differently,
but somehow our body seemed to do its own thing. A great
many of our actions run on autopilot. This is because our
mind, when experiencing “like” actions, works to save us the
effort of thinking intently on what we should do in a similar
situation. Your mind does this to free you up to think about
other things whilst taking some action. The only problem
with this is that when you’re on autopilot you can get stuck
in repeating some problem behaviour.

We can change this sort of habit by going to the memories
behind our unwanted actions and then changing the feelings
behind them. With the feelings changed the “drivers” are
gone and we can imprint new experiences that we’d rather

have in their place. Doing this to all our problems and bad
experiences puts us in control with the opportunity to
become whoever we really want to be.

Tools to Assist

Suds

SUDS represents Subjective Units of Distress. This
measure basically means that you give a reference (between
0-10) to how much you are feeling a particular emotion at
one time. So if you have a huge emotional issue and feel a
massive weight on your chest, hardly able to breathe, that
would be a 10. If there’s only a slight bit of emotion it would
be much lower, say a 1 or 2. When there’s no reaction, it is
down to a zero.

Totems

This stands for Test, Operate, Test, Exit, Make it Come
Back and Smile (or flip it). This ultimately means that we
Test to see how you have the problem and notice how strong
it is. We then Operate on it, or in other words perform a
Quick Tap or other FasterEFT techniques to help lessen or
remove the feeling supporting it. Now we Test again to see if
the problem is still there and if not, we Exit. Otherwise, we
Operate again until it is gone. We then try to make it come
back, by looking for other experiences that were similar so
that we make the problem stand out as much as possible. If
there is no reaction then we’re ready to Smile, which means
we’ve flipped it to something better.

The A.R.T. of Change

What rules your life? There are two things that can rule
you. Either what you want, or what you don’t want. You
might think you live by what you actually want, but what
really drives you to do the things you do?? When we really
want to change something in our lives, we need to realise
what is driving our belief or problem. We analyse all the
“don’t wants” and then we progressively flip the feelings
associated with each to what we do want. Having positive
resources for our actions in life will keeps us healthier and
more positive.

For example:

Anxiety Peace
Worry
Stress Assurance
Emptiness Fun

Fulfilment

Parts and Pieces

Focus on a particular part or piece of your feeling or
memory. This could be residual parts of something you’ve
previously worked on.

Here are the steps:
1. Identify what part you’d like to change about the problem.

Notice how you know you have it.
2. Repeat the tapping sequence from the Quick Tap while

saying, “let it go, release and let go” (instead of the list of
different emotions).
3. As you take hold of your wrist, take a deep breath in and
say “Peace” as you exhale.
4. Aim at the part you’ve been working on again. Notice how
it has changed and tap until it no longer bothers you.
5. Remember to make it a positive experience.

Mental Tap

This is exactly the same as tapping with your fingers,
except you imagine the feeling of your fingers on the
different points. This technique is great in public places. It
gives you privacy to release a negative feeling.

Tap Down, Tap Up

Find a negative belief about yourself like “I’m not good
enough” and tap on it until there’s no feeling left. Then do
the opposite, “I am more than good enough” and tap on that
until it’s 100% true for you.

Happy Journal

Buy a special notebook and write down all of your positive
experiences – all the things that make you happy. This
becomes a great resource to remind yourself of happy things
and its proof of how good things can be. In the back of the
book, it’s a good idea to write down every negative experience
you remember then tap on all of them. This becomes your
Peace List. It can change your life for the better.

Upper Shortcut

In acupressure there are what is known as shortcuts,
these are points where a large amount of signals can be sent
to the different organs in one go. We have already used the
Lower Shortcut in the Quick Tap (wrist points).

The Upper Shortcut is located on your crown, the very
top of the head. It’s useful to tap there if you’re feeling a lot
of emotion. It has a calming effect on many points, at once.

Affirmation Tap

It’s always a good thing to affirm something positive. A
quick and easy tapping spot is just around the upper part
above your ears. It feels terrific, and when you say positive
things it can re-enforce good feelings using Intention. It
allows your subconscious to aim at bringing more of the
good things into your life.

Power Word

A Power Word is any word you choose. It’s like saying
“Peace” at the end of the rounds of tapping. Just pick a word
that you have a positive association with. Something like
“Fabulous” or “Awesome”. Then think of a time when you
felt something good about that word.

When you notice the feelings associated with the word,
make them as strong as possible. Find what makes that
feeling so good. For a picture, make the image closer to
you, brighter or bigger. Make sounds louder. Feelings more
intense. Once they’re all really strong, just say the word and
repeat the process until you get that great feeling just from
saying the word.

Super Tap

Think about a number of problems that are similar to
each other. Notice what feelings and sensations come up for
them, and tap using the words that come to mind. When
there’s no charge left, change the negatives to positives and
tap those in. Pick an object, sound or feeling to represent all
the new good feelings.

Play it Backwards

It is surprisingly hard to feel bad in reverse. So when
you find a negative memory, just play it through forward

first, feel the emotions, and then play it backwards. Notice
the changes.

Expressions Technique

Changing looks on faces in a memory can make
problems feel entirely different. This technique clears many
angles of a memory. After you’ve tapped on the looks on
all the faces in a memory for a few rounds, the charges on
a problem can be released. Sad, angry expressions etc turn
into smiling faces. It rewrites the stories, changing problems
into positives.

If You’re Stuck, Do Something Different

If you’re getting too caught up in a memory while
tapping, do something physical like standing up, stretching,
just moving around.

This conscious awareness breaks your thought patterns
and helps you move on when you’re a bit stuck. Then you
can sit down again for more rounds of FasterEFT, feeling
fresher and lighter about the problem you’re working on.

Borrowing a Feeling

You can take good feelings from other happy memories
as new resources to deal with bad memories. It’s always fun
to remember the best times of your life. Notice what makes
you feel good about them and bring those feelings in as you
tap on a bad memory.

It’s like the helping hand you needed back in time but
couldn’t find then.

Two Models of the World –
Time to Take Responsibility

There are two ways at looking at your own emotional
condition. These two models are almost complete opposites.
The First “lower” model is where you view the world around
you as the cause of all your problems. You blame other people
or circumstances for your problems. This can range from
your beliefs about yourself to what you think other people
believe about you. Your life is about reaction, thinking other
factors are controlling your life.

The Second “higher” model of the world is where you
look within yourself. Where you take responsibility for how
you react to the world and notice your “how to programs”.
This gives you the opportunity to change them to how you
would LIKE them to be. This is acknowledging the world
but accepting you’re in control of yourself. You may need
to change some of your own beliefs in order to live in this
model, but it is so freeing. You become the master of your
own life with this model.

No Broken People -
Perfect System, Just a Lack of Information

FasterEFT is based on the very strong belief system that
there are no broken people. Even a person you might deem
as the worst of the worst was doing what they believed was
the right thing to do at the time, given their experiences.

The only difference between you and anyone else are the
resources you draw on to create your behaviour.

So, it’s helpful to remember that we use a perfect learning
system to develop and change in the world around us.
The reason we develop a problem in the first place comes
down to what we’ve learned over time, and our perceptions
about our experiences. So often, habits we’ve developed that
originally served a purpose, often no longer apply when we
reach adulthood. Our environment changes and we need to
change and grow with too!

Love Your Neighbour as Yourself

How you see yourself is what will determine how you treat
the world around you. If you don’t love yourself, then you
can’t love the world around you. It is vitally important that
you bring as much love to yourself as you can. Once you
do this you’ll discover that the world around you changes.
You’ll notice everyone is treating you better, and you’re
having more fun and enjoying yourself.

What is Stress?

Stress is the body’s reaction to perception. Your past
experiences determine how your body thinks it should
react to what you see, hear, and feel. If you change how you
reacted to different experiences in your memories, then
you’ll have new information and be able to react differently

in new situations. Ultimately this means the end of stress. If
you change how you learnt to react to a stressor in the first
place, you won’t feel as stressed.

Stress over an extended time can lead to all sorts of
health issues depending on how you represent it in your
body. Stress can lead to many different physical problems,
including an elevated heartbeat, increased blood pressure,
digestive problems, circulatory problems, nervous disorders
and much more. So there are plenty of sound reasons for
removing as many stress-inducing habits from your life as
possible.

Forgiveness

Without forgiveness we remain stuck, in all sorts
of pain. Often we find it hardest to forgive ourselves. Not
forgiving someone else is like taking poison and waiting
for the other person to die. Replaying hurtful memories
reinforces those old, bad experiences. We become all the
people in the memory and we are rehearsing all the things
that happened in that memory. It is of vital importance for
your long-term health that you bring lasting peace and love
to your past to ensure that you’ll be peaceful and joyful in
your future.

When we don’t forgive we maintain principles that could
even be compared to those found in a war. Is it a good thing
to retaliate one bad feeling for another? Do two bad feelings
ever create a good feeling? When we don’t forgive we’re

adding fuel to a fire. In the overall scheme of things, that
simply doesn’t make sense.

We first need to forgive ourselves. Then we can move on
to forgive the world for anything that’s shown up. In doing
this we break the chains that bind us to our problems.

History

The FasterEFT style of tapping has now been practiced
globally for well over a decade. It has helped tens of thousands
of people to live life with more joy and it’s helped countless
numbers to relieve physical and emotional pain.

Some of the skills that lie behind FasterEFT date back to
the 1970s. They have been slowing gaining popularity but
even now they largely remain outside mainstream thinking.
In part this is because the medical model has the attention
of the media. Techniques like FasterEFT, which help so
many people come off medication and live more fulfilled
lives, often sail under the radar because they don’t support
popular thinking, or vested financial interests.

Fortunately there’s a strong band of dedicated people
working diligently to spread the news about FasterEFT
around the world. It’s our job to help people realise how easy
it can be to let go of their issues and transform their lives for
the better.

What is NLP?

NLPistheabbreviation for Neuro Linguistic Programming.
It involves a series of techniques and understandings that
were created to help people model themselves into whatever
they wanted to become. NLP continues to be very popular
for its potential to enhance a person’s skills and performance.

Many of the principles of NLP are incorporated seamlessly
within FasterEFT. A qualified and skilled practitioner can
help you to become the very best you choose to be.

You Become What You Think About

There have been a great deal of advancements in the
understanding of the human brain in recent times. One of
the greatest advancements was the finding of a part of the
brain known as the Reticular Formation. This is basically a
filtration system. It picks up and sends messages according
to what you believe is of higher priority in your life.

This part of your brain reacts to the subconscious mind
and changes what it transmits depending on the beliefs
lodged in your subconscious mind. That’s why it’s important
to become aware of what you hold inside and work towards
changing any limiting beliefs which no longer serve you.

If you’ve been wishing, even striving for a better life yet
finding you’re being dragged away from it, most likely it’s
your subconscious beliefs that are holding you back.

Your thoughts are the starting point of your actions,
and your thoughts are governed by your subconscious
beliefs. When you receive new information, that’s when
your subconscious mind decides where it’s to be stored and
which feelings it’s associated with. The stronger the feeling
for that thought, the more the Reticular Formation will look
to create more of it in your life. These show up whether or
not it’s what your conscious mind would prefer.

This means that we bring into our lives what we hold
within our mind. So it’s important to weed out what no
longer serves us and to make a practice of thinking positive
thoughts that are strong, kind and above all, full of peace.
