around the class by students.

10 m Warm up

1. Students are invited to play a game that set up into five
rounds namely “situation predict”. The situations

consist of five situation as followings; bank,
restaurant, coffee shop, market/supermarket, and bus
station.
2. Students are split into five groups. Each group, then,

choose a representative to silently display the situation
assigned by a teacher.

20 m 3. Every groups attempt to predict what situation the
demonstration take place.

Presentation

1. Students are introduced to the modal verbs and their
definition as well as their examples in use.

2. Students are introduced to particular vocabularies
related to a use of instructions/requests in different
situations which will be necessary in further.

Practice
1. Students need to work individually at first. They are

40 m given a practice which requires students to complete a
conversation reordering the shuffle words in
parentheses in meaningful conversations.

2. Students compare their work with their partners if they
see the difference, let those of them correct
conversations by themselves.

Production
1. After they complete the task in practice, they are split
into group of four with the same situation.

2. In order for students to visit all situations, the activities
will be set up into two rounds and each round will take
five to seven minutes. The half of them stand by at

their own situations, rest of them go to visit each group
and the members need to service them.

3. Later, they change their role to stand by at their
situation and give a service for their friend in turn.

Evaluation
1. Students can complete their task by exercise in
practice.

2. Students engage in language activities in role of
request and give-conversation.

3. Students check their own self by use of the checklist
which determines they complete all activities in the
course.

Anticipated Problem & Solutions
Students probably don’t understand how to do activities. The teacher need to explain and
demonstrate activities as well. Students will not be confident in their work and hesitate to share
their ideas. The teacher need to praise them and observe closely each pair work.
