About IIUM WAQF ROOM P R O J E C T In July 2021, IIUM Waqf Room project was initiated by the Council of Principals supported by Residential and Services Department, Development Division, and Kulliyyah of Architecture and Environmental Design. The main aim is to accommodate a more comfortable and conducive living for students. It is also to sustain the cycle of improving and maintaining the furniture at the Mahallah which will be based on donations by individuals and any organisations. The IIUM Waqf Room project is a student accommodation upgraded with IKEA furnishing and paintwork. The layout was designed by a 1st year student from the Kulliyyah of Architecture and Environmental Design with guidance from the course advisor. The minimalist concept is applied to suit preference of the younger generation and the usage of IKEA furnishing is to create a home environment. It is believed that a comfortable and conducive study and living environment will contribute in producing better graduates.
our accomplishment IIUM WAQF ROOM P R O J E C T IIUM Waqf Room initial Project was funded by the family of an IIUM alumni, Allahyarhamah Azra Banu Masheerul Hassan under the ECM Libra Foundation. A total of RM 1 million was granted to the project, covering the purchase of furniture, toilet refurbishment and also maintenance. The IIUM waqf Room models was launched on 9th August 2022 and officiated by Ybhg. Dato' Seri Kalimullah Masheerul Hassan, the Chairman of ECM Libra Foundation. The IIUM Waqf Rooms Project are located at Block F, Mahallah Aminah. The twin-standard rooms can accommodate up to 128 female residents. The prerequisites to stay at the accommodation is to have an excellent study performance, active involvement in university programmes and a good record of staying at Mahallah. The University is looking forward to see more funders taking an interest in establishing the idea of the Waqf Room so that a similar block can be offered to IIUM male residents.
