Like the old Hollywood Squares game, people are becoming more and more accustomed to presen ng their best self in the
frame of rectangular box that lights up and glows when you speak. Early one Saturday morning in July sorors logged into Zoom
and laid eyes on sisters they had not seen in months. The laughter was infec ous and the joy in our sisterhood was plen ful.
Soror Pace welcomed everyone, and as an icebreaker and Board introduc on, each commi ee chair was called upon and asked
to share what unique skill they would bring to the Board using a word that began with the ini al of their name.

By their own admission, the 2020-2022 Board proclaimed they would serve with posi vity, thoroughness and joy along with
many other a ributes.

Soror Cynthia Hudson provided an informa ve mini workshop on Parliamentary Procedures to ensure all commi ee chairs are
equipped to properly par cipate in business mee ngs and conduct their commi ee mee ngs.

The Board has accepted the challenges of the current state of the country, sorority and community; and with the help of
commi ee members seeks crea ve ways to maintain engagement and fulfil the mission of the organiza on.

Throughout the year, the commi ee held ac vi es for the par cipants which included

Hampton Alumnae Sorors shared their virtual photo booth images
and thoughts on the Regional Conference experience.

”by Delcenia Hobson and Staysi P. Blunt

I liked the fact that I was able to focus in on the most important things, like the people. To be able
to focus on the individual that was speaking was a focal point for me. Also, we were more on me
than we usually are at an actual conference. I was also amazed at what technology can do. I did,
however, miss the Opening Session. - Audrey Cooper

”I liked the fact that it was one day; it seems like we’ve learned that we can get a lot done in one

day. The expense was a plus, because we didn’t have to go anywhere, but, I missed seeing
everyone, mee ng the candidates and hearing them speak, the Memorial Service, and most of all,
I miss all the pomp and circumstance. - Cheryl Griffin

”I thoroughly enjoyed my 1st Regional conference. The conference was enlightening and very

informa ve!! I was so excited, I changed a re twice! All I could think about was the blessing of
being a dis nct woman of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc....definitely a dream come true.”

- Gala Harvell

”My first Regional Conference was not what I expected but everything I expected. Yes, I missed the

mee ng of new Sorors from across the region. But watching the business aspect of Delta on the
Regional level gave me a new found respect for what we do. - Pam Porter

by Sheila Williams ”

Breast Cancer Awareness is an annual interna onal health campaign organized by ”
major breast cancer chari es every October to increase awareness of the disease
and to raise funds for research into its cause, preven on, diagnosis, treatment and
cure. The campaign also offers informa on and support to those affected by breast
cancer. A variety of events around the world are organized in October, including
walks and runs, and the pink illumina on of landmark buildings.

In 1998 I was diagnosed with this disease in the early stage. All I could
think about was death, ques oning God, “why me Lord”? The word cancer
was known as death. Two weeks later I was diagnosed with cervical cancer
on the surface of my cervix. I had two types of surgeries at the same me
to remove some of my breast and DNC. The cervical cancer was
completely removed but the par al breast had to be completely removed
due to lack of cancer clearance. I had to do chemo for 4 months. I have
been free of breast cancer for 20 years. I had two other types of cancer, a
rare cancerous polyp in my colon that tried to a ack my body and AML
Leukemia which I had to have the bone marrow transplant in 2010. I
thank God for His healing and giving me a second chance in life. Had it not
been for the Lord and my family I wouldn't have made it. I've been cancer
free since then.

It is important that we know how to prevent breast cancer or to catch it in the
early stages. When breast cancer is detected early, and if adequate diagnosis and
treatment are available, there is a good chance that breast cancer can be cured.
Women should examine their breast frequently to feel for any type of knots in the
breast ssue and should have a mammogram screening done once a year.

The Hampton Alumnae Chapter honors all cancer survivors and fighters. The Lord
has truly blessed us all with a second chance in life.

The Crimson and Cream Adopt-A-Spot Team, honors someone every year for their
phenomenal cleaning du es to the commi ee. This person goes above and beyond the
Adopt-a-Spot Team's commitment to clean outside of our monthly cleaning by cleaning her
neighborhood as well. The 2019-2020 “Chick with the S ck” is Soror Mildred Forbes. She
has collected over 50 bags of trash in her neighborhood! She collects her bags, takes
pictures, sends them to Commi ee Chair as proof, documents her bag numbers and lets the
Chair know as soon as she is done! She will come to the monthly mee ngs with a smile
while bringing her soror sassiness. She does not let age bother her while bending down,

is an awesome soror, and the commi ee commends her efforts and diligence.
