“He is not here:

Matthew 28:6

By LISA CRUMP

Chapter Chaplain

“There is a me for everything and a season for every ac vity under the heavens”
according to Ecclesiastes 3:1. As the world evolves and life constantly changes, we are
consistently reminded there is a season for everything. Daily rou nes as we know eventually
shi and look completely different. We experience seasons of trials, joy, sadness, laughter
and seasons of endings along with new beginnings. And throughout our lives, we experience
many seasons that we cannot control. Let's be real, life is about constant unpredictable
pa erns of varia on. During those unpredictable seasons being faithful can be challenging,
but the one truth we can all hold to is knowing that God does not change.

No work performed or task completed is eternal. Thus, change is inevitable, there is
always some form of transi on in life. Regardless of what that might look like, remember
there can be so much beauty in change including le ng go of past hurts and painful
memories. 1 Peter 5:10 tells us that “The God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory
in Christ, a er you have suffered a li le while, will himself restore you and make you strong,
firm and steadfast. But one must believe during those difficult mes, God has our best
interest at heart and He is showing us more of Him.

He has beau fully choreographed every part of our lives. While we may never understand
why God would allow things to happen, Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us to Trust in the Lord with our
own heart and lean not to our own understanding. In all of our ways acknowledge Him and
He shall direct our path.” By faith, we have to trust the process and believe in His divine plan.
And during those seasons of change, simply seek to hear His voice, trust His ming and
remain faithful understanding that everything He does is for our good and His Glory.

My Sisters, life is made up of different seasons. All of which help us to learn and grow into
the person God has called us to be. The seasons that God sees us through are unique,
beau ful and tailored just for helping us to understand the goodness of God's crea on that
transforms right before our very own eyes. But, even if an incredible moment ends and fades
into a memory, God remains the same and His word tells us that by believing in Him, there
will be more incredible moments that lie ahead.

So, my Sisters as the seasons con nue to come and go and life tosses us moments of
happiness, sadness, ups and downs, always remember God is constant and both the good
and bad are working together for our good.

Con nue to trust God by embracing the change of seasons.

WHAT’S POPPING AT HAC?

By: Delcenia Hobson

March 2021 was a GREAT month for the Hampton Alumnae Chapter! 82 sorors volunteered to par cipate in our chapter-wide
Double Good Virtual Popcorn Fundraiser to benefit our community programs and scholarship ini a ve. The special commi ee
made sure all of the par cipants were prepared by the start date. Commi ee member Illa Hamle e said, “I am so proud of our
Delta Dears! They signed up to par cipate even though they were unsure of how it would work on their cell phones. We
worked with them and they did amazing!”

Prior to the event start, the commi ee offered Zoom group sessions to field ques ons, and even provided one-on-one support
for those who needed it. It all paid off in the end…a er a phenomenal four days, March 23-27, of sharing pop-up store links,
making calls, and upda ng goals, this HAC team of hard working sorors, who sold to 2,230 supporters in 37 states, ended the
fundraiser with $85,477 in total sales, making the event total profit to the chapter $42,738.50!

All 82 par cipants sold something…whether it was two bags of popcorn, or 200 bags, they ALL contributed to the success of
this fundraiser. THEY WERE ALL AMAZING! Their drive to ensure we had a successful event was second to none… and the
friendly compe on was fun to watch. Our top 10 sellers had $33,700 in total sales! The top three sellers were led by Soror Joy
Jefferson, with $5,417, closely followed by Soror Anita Carter with $4,654 and Soror Michelle Hammond with $4,285. Our
beloved HAC Delta Dears did an outstanding job as well! The top three finished within $15 of each other! They were Soror
Reatha Montgomery with $1,284, Soror Alice Capehart with $1,271 and Soror Charlene Boyd with $1,257.

THANK YOU SORORS for making this fundraiser one of the best the chapter has seen!

HONESTY

by Sheila Williams

WHAT IS HONESTY?

Honesty implies a refusal to lie, steal, or deceive in any way.

When you are honest, you speak the truth. More broadly, you present yourself in a genuine and
sincere way, without pretense, and taking responsibility for your feelings and ac ons. You are a
person of integrity — you are who you say you are — and you act consistently across the
domains of your life rather than being one way in the community and a completely different
way in your family. As a result, you believe you are being consistently true to yourself.

This strength involves accurately represen ng your internal states, inten ons, and
commitments, both publicly and privately. The strength of honesty is o en linked to self-

values. Honesty allows people to take responsibility for their feelings and behaviors, owning
them, and reaping benefits by doing so.
